I saw this 1 series on my way to work this morning, stunning example:D

Welshy, You don’t say what car you drive.

Put your money where your mouth is and show us your car, preferably several shots with you in it so we can authenticate it is yours

Jest knew these'd come in handy again :D

Great to hear you like your new purchase Amanda, would love to see/have a ride in it at some point if you are passing some day :)

*Maybe we could compare like for like - my humble derv vs yours :D

*Tongue in cheek of course :)

Welshy seems to be on my ignore list - looks like im not missing much from the quotes either.

As for the other detractors, I will wait with anticipation to see what their next car purchases are so I can share my collective car wisdom on their purchase:D

I'm certainly not questioning your decision to buy this car, it seems a corker any which way you look at it.

:orb_angel

Stop start is only a good thing if you frequently drive in congestion if you dont it will not be used.

At least I read the thread

It did and without the hiccough. I was very pleased to see that Mr Grumpity hadn’t written rude things on the back in the dirt.

At the moment, it seems that it takes around 40-50 miles from clean to get the back end dirty enough to dribble dirty streaks down it in the damp condition. My hands get dirty closing the boot after about 20-30 miles. I have never known a car get so dirty, it’s in a league of its own.

if i drove for 2 hours to get the car washed, it would be dirty again by it was home:(

Amazing how he was absent for so long and then at the mention of BMW he pounced :(

BTW - I think he left the building a loooong time ago :D

I can’t work him out. I think he likes BMWs, but not the ones that anyone actually owns at the time.

I seem to be in the same boat as Dave; something very odd has happened and his posts aren't visible anymore

Steve

Well I went to have a test of said 123d on the weekend and boy was I impressed with it - a great buy. The seats just like all M sport ones were incredible - (I personally think the best in the business without getting to silly money).

Im quite new to PCP's (having always bought cars for cash but also never spending more than £6k on a car its clearly much easier o save up to that level than £20k) and from what Ive seen its not really the best option to go for.

Allow me to explain - you could buy a car by extending your mortgage which should be cheaper APR than a HP (unless its a really discounted APR), or you could buy the car on 1 or number of credit cards which are at 0% on purchases then after the 0% deal expries you could then balance tfr to another card at 0% paying the tfr fee of 2.99% or even swoping it to a life of balance rate.

Could you explain as you used to sell PCP's why they are better than HP/extending mortgage (if thats available). Im very curious as I may go down this route but any advice would come in handy.

Car I drive is the Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo FYI. And why I didnt reply sooner is because I go xmas shopping on the weekend and have no time to look at the web.

How simple do you want it?

After paying a comparable deposit, PCPs have cheaper monthly figure as you're not paying the car off in full like a HP, you leave a final lump sum topay off on a PCP. The deal will normally have a guaranteed final value which is lower than the trade in of you car. So after your deal expires you can pay the GFV and keep the car or because the trade value is higher, you have some "equity" (for want of a better term) that can you can use as you deposit on a new car and start another PCP deal.

For example:

I drive a poverty spec Mazda 3. For the price of my monthly HP deal over 3 years, I could be running a 3 MPS on a 3 yr PCP deal. See the appeal of PCP? Same money much better car.

BUT whereas I'll own my car after 3 years and have no more payments, on a PCP I'd still need to pay a lump sum or swap the car for another PCP deal and still be shelling out '00s a month. When I worked it out for me it was cheaper to buy my car outright on HP than PCP but that is obviously dependent on the terms of the deal

PCPs work if you like to drive a new car every 3 years or less or you've got a company car allowance. I think the changes in company car tax that made the car allowance more tax efficient have also increased the popularity of PCP. As to why BMWs are so cheap on PCP deals that's another kettle of fish.

If someone comes along and de-bunks all this, I'll come back and delete it!:o
