Falken 452's

toyos ~ too soft

eagle F1 ~ dont do in the size I want

What size do you want?

225/45/17 is most popular

Vote for the Falkens here - my last set survived 18.5k miles of abuse :D

well at the min it has 205/50/17s on

Go for 225x45x17's mate. they're also usually cheaper!

I like the Falkens and the Goodyears..

Goodyear Eagle F1 or Toyo T1-R...most people rate these and also F1's always win the tyre tests.

I have been told the speedo will read out if I put different sized one son. is this true

yes it will be only by a tiny percentage (ie <1%) and that is perfectlly legal to do

I'm pleased with my Dunlop SP9000... They're wearing slightly faster than I would like, but more slowly than I would expect for the level of grip they give.

I've always had the opposite problem with Dunlops; they wear stupidly quickly, and don't give great grip either.

That aside, I'd agree with the make and size advice already posted.

the rolling circumferance of the 215x50x17's is not much different to 225x45x17's, so wouldnt worry about it.

205 width is wrong anyway!!

I thought the standard fitment was 205/50/17? The rolling diameter between 205/50's and 225/45's is 0.1 inches whereas the difference between 215/50's and 225/45's is 0.5 inches.

I found that the Falkens were more expensive for 225's but the Toyo's came in 5 quid cheaper so worth shopping around.

perhaps im getting confuddled lol

i could've sworn the standard tyres were 215.

Have you actually tried SP9000's?

When I know they get well and truly spanked by Goodyears in tyre tests, and how rubbish the rest of the range are, why would I?

I'll take that as a no then.

I'd avoid the Avon ZZ3 tyres. There great in the Dry they have 10mm thread from standard (rather than the normal 8mm) They last well and are quiet on the road plus they are cheap. All sounds good but the wet performance is terrible.

Falkens then??

rather keep to the standard size of 205/50/R17 for the time being

Toyo's deffo If for no other reason than their wet performance. If you loon everywhere don't expect them to last though

I can only speak for the earlier Falken 451's but i found the earlier Falkens to be very good for the money (on a par with Pirrelli P Zero) They gripped in all conditions, didnt wear too quickly and for some reason i remember them being good at control through aqua planes on the M25. Only bad side was they were a tad noisey, but i was driving a diesel Focus at the time so it didnt matter. The 452/'s are obviously the follow up so i would imagine that these would have all been improved on aswell.

I've used both Toyo T1R's and Falken 452's.

Toyo's grip better but the Falkens last longer, although in all honesty there isnt much in it in my opinion.

I would highly recommend changing to 225/45/17's, they cost a lot less(more common size) and the rolling radius difference is negligable, I changed 3 years ago and certainly wont be going back.

I`ve got Nokian 215x45x17 and they are very good :)

You should have 225's on there really mate. I think it may be dodgy having those on there. How does it handle ???
