I plan to arrive there in the eve... drink a lot and then if i can't manage my tent i'll be too drunked to care! lol

Still not sure where to put the TV and Wii in the tent though....

Will there be wifi... would hate to think i'll be without internet for a couple of days

Just got all my kit out ready to check over and realized that it's all military.

The only thing of mine that isn't camo'd is the tent. Gonna feel a bit silly on a civi campsite.

just looking at the map on sat nav as we coming from the south it says take a591 off the m6, surely it be quicker to head up to penrith and then go east? any advice anyone?

yes it would... much much quicker... set up your sat nav to favour motorways (if you can) and it'll take you the right way...

Quicker for Appleby maybe, but if you want to get to Keswick, I'd go WEST from Penrith

ive been told by a friend who goes up that way alot that their is a nice lake near keswick with boat trips and you can hire bikes out in keswick for a ride around.

We're contemplating bringing our bikes with us on the rack but not sure if we'll use them...

And there's plenty of nice lakes near keswick btw! lol

Lake coniston is quite nice... have spent 2 camping trips round there!

The main lake ad Windemere is the one with the boats on (if anyone has a stagecoach staff pass you can get on free!!!!).

our lake is derwent water... you can hire motor boats, row boats, walk half way round it and catch the boat back ect ect... and yes, you can hire bikes too.... I have an old mountain bike that you can have for £100 a day

we could all pile down and take over the row boats for an hour if its warm enough you can swim in there too
