Camping Trip to the Lakes - Friday 27th - Sunday 29th June

Featured Replies

although my car is noticably slower on standard esso compaired to shell v-max! :o

I filled up the GT with 95 RON the other day and now regret it. After running V-power in it there seems to be a very noticeable drop off in power.:(

Trying to get through as much fuel as possible now so I can fill up with the good stuff again for the weekend.:D

What's wrong with briquettes?

Don't hold it so close, then it gradually gets soft inside and doesnt burn on the outside :)

We just had a bbq as well.

Some mad kebabds, Pineapple, apple and marshmellows

And then Bannasa in tin foil with tia meria and chocolate buttons inside

mmmmmmmmmmmm

I find they make the food taste 'funny' kinda like fire lighters :) Can't beat real charcoal. Also they don't seem to hold the heat for too long.

Scotty: good call on the bananas with chocolate in :D

Yep - they're fantastic! Last lot I did I slit them, put honey in, BBQ'd them and then poured rum on them.

Awesome Ideaa BBQ is still warm as well

BRB!!!

I concur. Any fruit cooked with choc, marshmallws, alcohol etc is FTW. Who is bringing the bananas then? Infact, I Think I might go for a full on fruite salad!

I shall be bringing some bananas as well as the obligatory "mahoosive smokin' mushrooms".:D

I may well be gate crashing this if I don't get my finger out and book a holiday soon.

Do it, Pix! :)

God havn't looked in this thread for ages! Have missed all sorts of serious discussions!

Will hopefully still be attending... Not in work at the moment so will be a 0% credit card job... but shouldn't be costing too much!

How are we gonna sort out payment for the camp-site? (just so people know what we're doing and it doesn't all turn to chaos on the last day!!!

Just all chipping in before we leave?

Also.. had a thought about food... if there is a supermarket nearby then maybe we could all chip-in with a few quid each... then a few of us go to the shop and buy all the food... that way we're not all having to bring food and going to shop to buy things seperately... (with there being a lot of us it might not be so good for us all to go to the supermarket at once!!!)

Then obviously any special requests made to the people going to shop (or bring it with you!!!)

What you think guys?

Phil

To be honest, I find it easier to pay the camp site guy individually, as we will be staying for different times/number of people etc etc.

Same on the food front as well.

how about a big bbq sat night we bring our own stuff and chuck it in a pile and we then all work through it?

I like that idea a lot

There's what, 50 people going? There will be a good few BBQs on the go so I think the most realistic version of events will be some people will bring their own stuff, and some peolpe, once branched off into little groups, may do group buys of food and share food and BBQ's between them. There's no way the entire lot of us is going to be able to share one pile of food. It's jst not feasible

I might be able to come up for the pile of food :D

Lol... just looked back through the pages at the latest list!

Hadn't realised it had grown so much! lol

Yeh guess that won't really work with the number of people! lol

Just a suggestion... so back to plan A: Bring mountains of own food!!!

Looking forward to it now... think i will dig out some old hits 97 cd's and the like!!

Buggar... just thought... this now means that i'm going to have to rummage around in the attick and fetch all our camping stuff down :o

Who else will be bringing a gazebo? We're bringing a decent sized "pop-up" one!! lol

p.s. Just looked up how far it is for me now... 111 miles each way... approx 2 hours 25mins!

It would have only been 48.3 miles if i were still in Lancaster!! lol

philje123... if your heading up via the A1/A66 route you may see me. Were setting of about 8:30 / 9 am friday morning.

Yes i will be going up that route!

But prob not setting off till friday evening or saturday morning!

Phil

Auroan and phil - have you considered taking the A684 through Hawes instead of the A66.

Might be a little bit longer but its a stunning drive and well worth it IMHO

I don't do longer drives in a V6 ;-)

Maybe on the way back.. but on the way we will prbablt just want to get there asap especially if travelling friday eve!

And yes it is nice round there... My mum used to live not far from Hawes in Settle.
