Video of it on the Nurburgring :)

Looks like they know we're going to be driving this car! :p

For a stock car, it seems to handle quite nicely.

Below is an Autobild hybrid photoshop of what the car should look like. Seems pretty accurate based on the teaser images released by Skoda so far:

Looks nice from the front, but just too generic from the side. I bet the estate looks loads better

Bland, shmand... Who cares!

At the end of the day as long as you have the brilliant build & reliability and driving quality of the VAG, plus the usually excellent price point.

They'll have another winner on their hands. If that autobild picture is anything near it, then I'll be very happy indeed.

Skodas target market likes bland and conservative. This is one of the best looking new Skodas since the Mk1 Octy vRS.

The only pictures I can find in autoexpress show the heavily disguised testing mule, this has stickers placed to make the headlights look like a Fabia. Look closely and you can see the outline of the headlights as per the autobild photoshop.

I quiet like the look of this car, and if I were looking for a new car this would be quiet high on the list.

I wouldn't call it bland. Japanese/Korean blobs I find bland. Conservative yes, but I like the simple clean and sharp styling inside and out.

Agree that this is one of the best recent Skodas. Only other truly good looking recent Skoda I would say is the Superb Combi. Looking forward to seeing the Octavia3 and Superb facelift now as I feel this new designer has something going for him.

Mannyo,
I am looking at this weeks magazine (no.1219) and it does no appear to be disguised.
If it is then I need a trip to Specsavers. Smiley face as my emincons are not working. Now they are.

Yeah, that is the disguised one. They have done a good job, but the top of the headlights, top of the grille, Skoda badge and the dividing sections of the lower bumper are all stick on parts.

Thanks,

On a serious note though won't the introduction of this new model ultimately hit the current Octavia's value used especially poor sods whos car falls around the same value around when this hits the streets! I mean who would buy a used Octy near out of warranty against one of these new fresh likely nicer looking motors?

Look closely at the lights in particular and you can see the actual body lines underneath the sticker designed to fool the eye.

Nah, my only wish is that people in Stockholm would learn how to parallel park. Mirrors seem to be a unfortunate casualty. I think I'm going to start a facebook group to help these innocent victims of this atrocity.... You know, the usual. "Like if you would feed this starving kid."

Well while it may not be earth shattering in it's appearance, at least is is not gawpy like most other  new designs now with odd  silly shaped afterthought  rear side windows, especially when the  lower part of the window line moves upwards as it goes towards the back end. So many cars now are the most peculiar in shape and unsighly to the eye, certainly from the outside and gawd knows what from the inside. Some of the best designs go back to the 60's and 70's. I wish some manufacturer would use the old body designs, maybe tweeked here and there for  airflow reasons and with  the latest mechanicals. When one looks at the dash boards and steering wheels etc of cars of the era, one longs to be  back then.
