The engine.

I think that's enough photos.

Just to finish off a video of a Needle Sweep and Start up:-

Well I've only driven it for 13 miles back from the garage maxing out at 53mph so haven't got much of an opinion on it as yet.

The auto box takes a bit of getting used to. I found trying to reverse it out of the drive, which it on a slope, required a bit of throttle to get moving.

I found this cause the car to move a bit faster than I liked so it meant me hitting the breaks instantly.

The seats were a little hard for me but very supportive.

The car was very responsive at low revs without any lag.

My mother is keeping the old car for the next week so I will be taking her out in the new one to get her confidence up so she is happy to drive it.

I forgot to spec cruise control with the car because I saw C/Control but that meant Climate Control. :wall:

It can be retro fitted if need be so no big deal.

In all I'm happy with it and I think its a great little car. I hope my mother will think the same.

Very nice. Good spec too and a full tank

No it didn't get a full tank it was just under 1/2 a tank when we picked it up.

The pump clicked off at 29 litres so there must have been around 15 litres in the tank.

I managed to put in 41.78 litres to brim it.

So the tank holds around 55 litres. Not bad for a 45 litre tank,

As my mother goes to the same Texaco station to get petrol they only sell 95.

So it will only get 95 petrol.

If I had my way it would get V-Power.

Is that venting? Are you familiar with the venting procedure?

Lovely car but really anyone paying £19k should get a full tank of petrol at the very least. My 12V was £9k new six months ago and that came with a full tank.

That 9k offer was a bargain

Paid £12500 or something like that for my 12v SE in march last year.

Yes that's venting.

My ex-girlfriend had an old 61-plate diesel Fabia.

It was my job to fill it up (and pay for) the diesel.

So pressing the little switch down in the fuel pipe gives an extra 10 litres after the initial pump clicking out.

In the diesel that equated to over 100 miles before the needle left full.

True but to rephrase what someone once said "Garages are not in the business of selling cars they are in the business of making money".

Please do not vent a Petrol car like the vRS unless you are away to use at least 10 litres worth of petrol.

It takes at least 7 litres extra venting.

If you vent and leave with only a few miles covered, that is highly dangerous in hot weather.

There is no Expansion room.  Explosion room though.

OK that's lessoned learned.

What is the purpose of the switch in the neck of the fuel tank?

Does it get pressed down when the cap is on?

Yeah. Iv had had 150 miles before losing the first fuel bar on the MFD.

It is only recommended to do it before a long journey though... As the fuel doesnt have anywhere to expand to when the expansion tank is full of fuel.

  • 2 weeks later...

Well it has been two week since delivery and the car is working perfectly.

It had its first clean today as well.

P9140011_zps53303dab.jpg

Both looking  nice and clean.

P9140010_zps7a663515.jpg

I don't think I can convince my mother to have an S3 vs vRS,

P9140013_zpsa188f738.jpg

Only done 65miles since picking it up. That means averaging just over 30 miles a week and that's not going to change so it's going to take a while for the car to bed in.

In all my mother is really impressed with the car. The automatic transmission took a little bit of time to get use to it.

The only criticism is that there is a bit of road noise compared to the SE model she drove.

But that is down to the larger wheels fitted.

I still recommend the Fabia as a budget car even though in vRS trim the price is getting a bit high.

The usual criticism of cheap plastic and handling isn't really an issue.
