La vie en France

Talking of stupidity etc, European Heritage weekend just passed, all the world takes to the car and visits 'stuff', so, around Nantes the western bit of the ring road was shut, with a gang of erks with pneumatic  industrial sanders at work on the rather large bridge which crosses the Loire, bridge shut, said erks sanding off the surface to remove a failed coating of epoxy grip 'stuff' - would this happen in the UK well I suppose so!

2nd piece of cretinous behaviour, the red hat brigade(les bonnets rouge) were at it again on Friday in Morlaix, protesting about local agriculture probs, - the artichoke harvest is suffering because they cannot sell their artichokes because those other nasty Europeans are taking the French market by selling at a lower price, so what did mes amis do, burned down the local tax office! whilst en route Nantes Friday afternoon there had been a major mobilisation of the local Gendarmerie, about 24 minibuses, 3 coaches seen travelling north around Quimper,  Morlaix bound I suspect!

Having had time to reflect ,I think they drink coffee but don't actually smell it, they think Europe owes them a living with huge subsidies etc - time for reality to check in here a la frog, they need a strong leader, Hollande, although socialist doesn't like the poor - according to his last partner the rotweiller(local name for the lady!)!

Sorry for the rant just thought a wider audience might be as amused as I am.

Well protectionism is banned in EU law so they can protest unril the cows come home. However I have always found rural French people lovely (much better than the towns) but like here the poor sods are really struggling to survive. I must have some sympathy and admire the French for their gumption. Here we just moan. If people in the UK protested a bit more we would not get shafted as much by big business and the establishment elite.

I am sure all but Daily Fail/ Torygraph readers would agree :)

They're little tinkers those Froglettes, but laudably, in contrast to us, they do put up a fight when they think that their own establishment is attempting to beat them into the ground.

How many food banks are there in urban  France ? (No need in the rural areas cause there's a good poaching industry going on).

Vive La Fraternite, Egalite and the "Get-out-of-my-faceity".

Having lived in rural France for 8 years and still working in Paris today, for sure, I'd retire in France over the UK. But as far as work goes, I just cannot see myself working in France. The bureaucracy is enough to drive any sane person mad. The difficulties in setting up your own business.

Hollande has just gone back above the 20% popularity rating. How low can one go?

My mum who lives and works in France is driven mad, and although we're by no means true right-hand people, the socialist government just cannot survive at the moment.

I'm meant to be back in Paris tomorrow. I'll spare you my frustration about the AF strikes, cancelled flights, etc. I feel sorry for the majority staff who are hard-working people but the latest pilots' strike has really ****ed me off and I have no real sympathy for them now.

Tend to agree, in part.

Seen bureaucracy (In the public sector) at work there whilst on hols - last time I sent a postcard back to UK from Britany, it took three weeks to arrive.

But things in the private sector like supermarkets, seem on par, if not better organised than UK.

Then again, if you're on restricted-income in the UK, you suffer the same effect i.e. you have to wait until you've saved-up for something, which being the UK is bound to be over-priced

Details of the Morlaix incident:-

Now is that criminal damage or arson ? - fair chance that certain Police forces over here might classify that for the lesser offence, especially for residential premises (Cough !).

Is it being hyped just because its alleged to be the work of Les Bonnets ?_
