Small dent in car after main dealer service

The Nobody doing a check at drop off, not checking for marked wheels or obvious damage is a matter to raise with the Dealer Principle. Poor Franchised dealership practice. BUT, the Premium Price charged for Servicing 'Should' include the Body Work inspection for the Paint & Corrosion Warranty/. Not on the Time Sheet / Service Sheet, no longer Service Books, but Skoda are the first to say 'No record of Inspections' when knocking back Warranty Claims'. Inspections are not required in the Warranty T&C,s. But Skoda / VW Group show it as part of Servicing. What is supposed to be checked is damage or poorly repaired damage. Seldom done and then recorded.

Small dent in car after main dealer service

I will probably just mention it to dealer when I get the call asking if I was happy with the work done there , probably on Monday.

When I dropped off car nobody came and did a walk round to check for marks they just took keys and sent me on my way. And the car park is so tight there and it was raining when I picked up so I wasn’t going to walk round and inspect whole car.

I have owned cars for past 35 years and everyone I have owned has picked up dents at some point being parked in public car parks it’s just one of those things I guess, as you said I could pay for it to be removed myself but Sod’s Law would just get another dent parked elsewhere at some point, so will probably just live with it but still mention to them when I get call.

I once picked up a brand new golf Gt back in 2006 and within a month someone cut the hedge along side when I use to leave it for work and scrapped the hedge cutter alongside the rear side panel!

Cruise control intermittent

Might be worth getting it scanned as well. It could be a failing brake switch or if fitted dirty front radar sensor.

Depends if the Dealership done a check of the bodywork and have marked anything down on any tick (lie) sheet or not then of course it could as you say have happened in their car park or since leaving them.

In reality most probable outcome might be that it's up to you whether you live with it or just do what they would do and pay a mobile dent guy/person to take the dent out. Sod's Law if you pay to have it removed you'll get another dent on another (or same panel) sometime later. Another downside of fashion is very dark colour cars do tent to show up these things more especially when clean and polished.

My wife had a very big dent put in the rear panel of her two-door car on the driver's side from a hit and p1ss off carpark incident, I said to forget about it ubtil it got hit again or when she was going to change car. About 18 months later she'd just had the car serviced at the Dealership and once again they had offered to do the work and given her a very good price quote (bodyshop must have been short of work) and she said she was having it done as she saw the dent everytime she got in the car as it was on the drivers said. Like an idiot I joked she'd probably get a dent on the repaired and paint panel within a couple of days, doh! She collected it at a lunchtime and on return home that night a face like thunder, sure enough small door opening dent on the same panel within hours of her collecting the car. I, unusually, wisely said nothing at the time. IIRC the small dent was still there when she got rid of that car.

Last century I picked up a brand new car and within hours of first collecting that car someone open their car door on to it, my wife was with me at the time so knew these things can happen but that was my car and not hers so probably that made the difference. I thought about saying something to the man that done it but he was struggling to get a baby out of a back seat and I thought what's the piont it change anything that had happened or prevent it happening again as it was an accident not totally malicios or careless action from a selfish person.
