  1. I had one on the Kamiq 1.5tsi Monte Carlo, I looked out of it at a thunderstorm then slid the blind back and left it there. I was asked by a couple of other owners (different makes) who had problems but I could not help. I would theorise that driving so the chassis is subjected to twisting on a regular basis would increase the chances of leaking or cracking.
  2. Back in the past, Mobil did the "Economy Run" 50+ mpg on a 1000cc car (Morris Mini Minor) slightly better on the 1100version. https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/june-1967/66/13th-mobil-economy-run/ Later the AA exhorted drivers to not exceed 55 mph as this had been found to be the most economic speed during a fuel shortage (whatever it was at the time)
  3. No I had no problem with my Kamiq but on other skoda manual g/box cars I had noticed it.
  4. This car was across the road and to my left I would not have expected something at the angle and distance to activate the brakes, I noticed brakes coming on mini- roundabouts before but at a much reduced angle
  5. I had no problem with my 1.5 tsi Kamiq but I did notice you have to wait/pause for the revs to climb before moving off or you WILL stall. I had one instance of Radar brakes on. Exiting a car park my way was clear and I moved forward but a car pulled up on my left for a POST BOX and my brakes hammered on. Quite frightening.
  6. DerekU I realise there is a difference between the Estate and the hatchback and that tyres made another difference, I was rambling on a bit πŸ€”. I was really interested in the suspension units they don't seem particularly soft but the body seems to roll more than I expected (tyres are the Goodyear eco?) Never mind I shall just have to drive sedately (until the voices say get on with it!)
  7. Have you tried switch cleaner? I used to use WD 40 but it always seems messy the switch cleaner moves dirt and frees stuff up. If required I re-lube with fine oil using a cocktail stick or something similar just a single drop. Strangely the contact cleaner is a WD 40 product and has a fixed spray pipe.
  8. I enjoyed driving my Monte Carlo version of the Fabia Estate (I think the tyres were Kumho) but this SE L (similar power) does not seem to hold the road as well. I was wondering if the Fabias all had the same suspension units or if the Monte are stiffer?
  9. Put some premium fuel in it a tankful once a moth works wonders
  10. Watching the "shorts" on you tube I watched in amazement as a car was jumpstarted with an 18volt Makita battery and a couple of craft knife blades. Now modern cars with computers everywhere and 18volts worries me somewhat! but at the same time fascinates me are there any circumstances where any of you would try this or is it a walk in the park and I am too chicken to try it?
  11. Hooray 2024, mk.4 Fabia SE L. See the accelerator pedal then the edge of the dash panel the light coloured lump, thats my plug in the OBD.
  12. Mine is on the edge of the dash panel just below the fuse box Mk.4 2024 reg.
  13. I had a Kamiq 1.5 dsg monte carlo with the glass roof (It was a stock car, not my choice) I opened it once to watch a rain storm through and never bothered again! I have since been approached on two occasions by Skoda owners asking if mine had cracked like theirs. * sorry one was a vauxhall, I think.
  14. Not that I know of, sorry
  15. Amazon car-play adaptor read the "About this item" carefully
  16. Did you bed the brakes in, I had not heard of it until I bought my first disc braked car. It builds up a "skin" on the disc so the small machine marks don't grab the pads.
  17. I have the analogue speedometer but shortly after taking delivery the digital dash was introduced along with traffic sign recognition and a horsepower increase! I don't suppose they will offer an update : )
  18. I don't know the specific part you are after but motor factor shops stock all sorts of panel connectors the sort you push a pin into a gripper to expand it for a tight fit
  19. I had a car that squeaked and rustled around the dashboard and uttered plaintive cries when turning the steering wheel from lock to lock' especially as the weather got hotter. I found a small amount of silicone household polish applied with a squirt, or on a cloth, shut it all up, especially the steering column nylon bushes. Just be careful overspray can turn surfaces such as car mats extremely slick.
  20. After many years a Ford owner, I decided to buy a Skoda Yeti, I had two, then a Fabia Kombi monte carlo and a 1.5 Kamiq, monte carlo dsg, my first automatic and now a Fabia SE-L dsg I quite like Skoda. I would like a top range Superb but never seem to run to one. Enjoy your Octavia it is a brilliant car.
  21. john1952, I looked at the original kit and there it was! re. the Aero wheel covers, they may be needed when you come to sell your car. Cleaned up they would make unusual wall decoration or put back on the car could save you money when petrol prices climb againπŸ˜„.
  22. I have not really looked at the Aero wheel covers, what are the pullers like, please. I am surprised I got a free umbrella let alone no pullers.
  23. A bit long winded but another angle on using an automatic, he calls the DSG a Robotised-Gearbox.
  24. Not much room with the full sized wheel as you supposed, the polystyrene I took out was left outside under a porch my female cat has moved in as it is warmer than her usual cardboard box.
