  1. There is a limited (but adequate) time to replace the battery but also the battery must be the correct way up when inserted.
  2. The DSG is electronically operated I seem to remember someone having a similar problem on here, the problem was poor battery condition.
  3. I thought this would be interesting to see. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2hfXwBupJE
  4. Apparently the Disc is best as the baddies just cut the steering wheel into pieces to remove the hooked on or over varieties.
  5. Thanks for that but I'm not a fan of Halfords.
  6. Thank you, it is as I thought, more a deterrent to be seen than taken seriously at the cheaper end of the range, the Disc being around £150.
  7. I have noticed more people using steering wheel clamps for extra security, especially on key less vehicles. One in particular stood out, the Big Disc steering wheel clamp. Does anyone here use a steering wheel clamp, would you recommend it?
  8. I tented with a Fabia estate and found that I could get almost as much in the car with the seats up as with them folded. Put heavy stuff across the rear seats, then fill the footwells then the boot with lighter stuff (this helps the handling) Later I did add a huge top box just to carry the Duvalay bedding rolls and some clothing.
  9. Nice motor, mine has dsg, swapping for little Fabia 110 also dsg.

Initially I used to carry a couple of litres of AdBlue, but the usage was so frugal (I was very surprised) you get plenty of warning to refill.
  11. I have had two Yeti, 2x wheel drive 110ps they both towed beautifully, first my Eriba then my Orion. They carried almost everything I offered up including several Ercol captains chairs and all sorts of camping gear. It was quick, handled well, braked well and, I thought, looked amazing in and out.
  12. In a couple of years the Fabia will be electric and you might find it worth staying as a Skoda customer
  13. https://www.skoda.co.uk/discover/download-a-brochure I have an SE-L on order (stock car)
  14. I was told that a tyre manufacturer built a factory close to Skoda (Kumho ?) I had these on one of my Skodas, a premium tyre for mid range tyre prices, I found them excellent. Skoda are using Eco tyres from which ever company, these are often run at high pressures and have tread pattern for low speed rolling so at speed may produce more noise.
  15. My milage is lower nowadays than previously, so I use my C-tek At Least once a month, battery charges overnight.

Anni, Bexhillian is right you do need to clean up any spills straight away. Kitchen roll is good, with a sealable plastic bag for the used stuff.

I used to buy my AdBlue from a VW parts supplier the price then was very reasonable and I also had two types of dispenser. One dispenser came with a small cap and probe the other was a long tube and cut out automatically when the tank was full. (actually they both did) I think the VW parts supplier advertised on e-bay.
  18. Thank you, I find the manual confusing as every version is included so I tend to rely on Briskoda. 😉
  19. I was told D and hold on the footbrake, for longer stops Handbrake and P . Neutral is for towing or some such function. I would love to know the official explanation
  20. I used premium fuel when towing It did seem worth it, the diesel was happy and I felt it performed better (I am sure it did) The result should have been lower ash.
  21. My Monte does very well on fuel, I don't do much town driving but it is around 20mpg. Cruising around 55mpg but I do like the acceleration and use it as often as I can (shades of Mr.Toad) The two cylinder eco mode is a joy as long as the traffic is moving smoothly.
  22. I was told the car is in the UK but it would take 3-weeks before I get it! Why 3-weeks ?
  23. I think my Fabia Kombi Monte Carlo was six speed It drove beautifully full of camping gear or a dash across the bridge to Wales. Engine/gearbox was very smooth
  24. I tried the main ones, but by the time you add in the "extras" .....
  25. I don't auto-renew but when I had my renewal notice my chin dropped to the floor another £38 per month. I called up all the recommended insurers on my computer and gave them the same details as my current policy. Most wanted more, only one could match it so I stuck with my current insurer. It would seem that a lot of unfortunate drivers lost their vehicles in flooding incidents so we must pay.
