  1. I don't know for sure either. I'm taking your (and your mechanic's) word for it that the coilpacks and plugs are all good. Given those being good, the most likely cause of a weak spark is a low voltage (or high resistance) in the LT feed, which really requires a multimeter to check.
  2. You know which calipers you have. Got to a real parts factor (not a Halfrauds) and ask for pad shims for them. And get a tube of Copaslip when you're there because shims will stop knocking but increase the likelihood of squealing.
  3. Possibly not. Given the age of the car, that may not be the original Skoda radio-cassette.
  4. What's the LT feed to the coilpacks like?
  5. Yes. You can improve it by doing a pumpectomy, but this fault is an annoyance rather than a critical failure.
  6. Yes. It's called "corrosion", and is very common in rarely used and/or gently driven cars.
  7. Briskie friendly version of which part of your anatomy gets no protection!
  8. A "bun freezer".

24 hour clock is standard, at least for digital displays, in a lot of countries.
  10. If you didn't have regen, would the brake lights come on now? Even if you dropped a gear or 2 as you released the throttle?
  11. Really, to the extent that there is no entry for a company "Zenec" in English Wikipedia.
  12. Totally agreed, not least because it means looking to see if there's someone there to see your signal.
  13. First off - 5W/30 is a viscosity, not a specification. A VW 500 series specification details a number of parameters, and includes a range of possible viscosities. If you look on Opie's website for whichever engine you have, you'll find a range of suitable oils. Some people have a preferred brand and others prefer whatever's cheapest.
  14. I'm fairly sure they're connected, because that sensor supplies inputs to the EMS as well as the Climatronic.
  15. You think that will work? I know it doesn't work the other way round, because I know how AC (and full climate) work, but not where to connect the gubbins to drain and recharge a system.
  16. Are you sure? Only this is the Octavia 1 forum, and the only thing we know about a DSG is that none of our cars have one.
  17. All the catalyst/"O2 sensor" faults could be down to one of the 2 lambda sensors being faulty. A competent mechanic can find which one in 5 minutes with a multimeter.
  18. Anonymity retained. A for Audi are/were in Clydebank, maybe 5 minutes walk from Clydebank railway station. 4 trains an hour to/from Partick, and lots of buses from there to the QEUH (still often known as the Southern from being on the same site).
  19. As it's the same OP, I presume so. I do actually live in the area myself these days,
  20. It looks ok, and at this age you need to know about 3 things; condition, condition and condition.
  21. Could try A for Audi who are/were based in Clydebank but I see do city centre collection and drop off. Tell me which hospital you work at and I'll know which would be better for you.
  22. Can you ask them to provide part numbers? This sounds rather like brake pad shims, but the price seems excessive.
  23. Yes. It does rather suggest having a detergent pack and a base that you don't actually need...
  24. Wel, since we are this far off topic anyway ... I'd say it's only 1 or 2 bhp at most, but fresh spark plugs improve the peak power and, more relevantly, the low end torque, of any petrol engine.
  25. SO which is your native language then, Yorkshire, Strine, or English?
