  1. Seconded the above. Also, if it happens again, try "wiggling" the gear lever about the reverse position so see if it's a switch issue.
  2. I've noticed that with fresh plugs in spark ignition engines too.
  3. Er, the substances sold as antifreeze / "summer coolant", be they glycol or OAT based, are all additives, specifically "water wetters". I'll agree the 50/50 mix ratio as long as you agree to stop misusing words in what is a second language to both your primary respondent and yourself.
  4. It's dead clear I think. You're saying the Skoda's kerb weight is higher, not the pedal effort is 200kg greater?
  5. Unlikely. Geodysy is a specialist discipline in itself. Lots of coders more or less understand it when they see it; lots of geographers and mathematicians may be capable of coding it as well as doing it; I'd be surprised if a workshop manager has any of those skill sets.
  6. @bencelang - Well, to offer you further advice on any likely issue, I'd need to know the colour of your oil warning, and whether it was a steady or flashing light.
  7. Which is entirely consistent with a systematic conversion error. Since you did "move" the car between shots, there could also be a rounding error in here someplace, depending on which way it's doing geodysy. I would need access to the code, and a geographer who's also a coder and a consenting mathematician to get much further!
  8. OK, new thought - If you commit the same offence more than once during a race, should you get a longer penalty for the second (and any subsequent) offence than for the first one?
  9. And that just means the nav app is consistently wrong if it uses, say, ITRF and the GPS it takes the positioning pulses from uses WGS84. This is part of what I do as a day job.
  10. And, indeed, for having a non-standard pattern alloy wheel fitted.
  11. Yeah, a 215/55 will be too high, and may make your speedo read illegally, even if it clears inner and outer arches all round (and at full lock both ways at the front).
  12. I think your filler cap will show a list of all the standard sizes for an Octy 2. Since you don't mention which trim you have, I can't advise further because I don't know what your standard size is.
  13. Sounds plausible; these are definitely differences N-S between the WGS84 and Airy's Spheroids, and between the OSGB 36 and OSGB70 grids (BTW OS maps still use OGB36).
  14. Yeah, it would do. Because you turned the ignition off, rather than because you fixed the fault. Have you done anything that might diagnose an oil system problem, even like dipping the oil level?
  15. Are you saying that a lower bit rate recording is better!?
  16. Cheers. Not what I'd wondered about then.
  17. Standard GPS is only accurate to about 15m (source Wikipedia), and I do know of places where that would put you on a different road, or on the opposed carriageway of the road. Does AA use DGPS, since that has centimetric accuracy?
  18. Does the outside temperature readout (in Climatronic display, and echoed in trip computer) stay constant and believable or vary between cold and hot?
  19. @Nurse123 - Before I say anything else, "thank you for your service". Now, back at your car, my first thought was of a gear linkage misalignment. I can't recommend someone since I don't know where you live or work, but any VAG specialist will understand the phrase, and fix the issue in about an hour. As for the "very hot", start with the basics and check the engine oil and coolant levels. If they're low, that may fix your issue with the bonnet temperature.
  20. No. That said, if the actual fault hasn't been repaired, the relevant code will recur.
  21. Edit explaining price difference.
  22. ... talking bullocks about how much power is dissipated by an ICE system.
  23. So somehow you generate friction from the brake pads without pressing them against the discs!!?
  24. On a 5 year old car, if you want to try and raise a warranty claim for glowplugs, pass me the nachos and salsa.
