Yes indeed, apart from head gasket issues occasionally. Bottom ends are as tough as old boots.

I assure you it does have them if it's a 1.4, 8 valve. The pushrods just drop into them.

Believe it or not these engines were modified by VW to have hydraulic lifters.

You don't need a gap just a preload on the hydraulic valve lifters. No problem at all 🙂
