  2. As you now have the Fabia is it an option to sell the Citigo to your son, then he can do what he wants with it and at his expense.
  3. All I can say is that mine sits nice and even, car just come up three years old with almost 170km on the clock. Personally I prefer the softer ride as I do mostly longer journeys so comfort is important for me.
  4. To be fair as your car is a 2016 they are nearly 10 years old, nothing lasts forever so they've done OK, so perhaps consider originals from Skoda?. At least you know they will fit and keep the ride height correct and the ride will be restored to original.
  5. On my previous car the front discs and pads lasted to just over 130k miles - lots of long drives at a steady speed on the motorways and dual carriageways the brakes don't get used much for mile after mile, the discs also stay in really good rust free condition.
  6. Auto hold came in on the Octavia with the mk4 - basically if you have a traditional handbrake lever you haven't got 'auto hold', but you may have 'hill hold'.
  7. What you describe is 'hill hold' which holds for a few seconds after removing your foot from the brake pedal, auto hold is different and keeps the foot pedal pressure active for several minutes, if you haven't moved after several minutes the car then changes auto hold to the electronic hand brake.

I usually average around 3k a month, on an exceptionally busy month I might do 4.5k (but that's unusual), average speed around 42mph and average 60mpg, lots of longer drives usually on motorways sitting in 7th gear at 70mph and 1600rpm so nothing really wears out, front brakes still on original discs & pads with a good amount of life left in them, rears were changed not so long ago. Had it from new, 7 miles on the clock the day I picked it up, still really enjoy getting in it and driving it.
  9. The Superb had it's first MOT today, all good except a nail was found in the rear tyre which is shown as an 'advisory', luckily it was in a repairable area so they fixed it before I picked it up.

    As said above it is definitely the instrument brightness control - I have exactly the same in my Superb and tried it out one night this week, make sure it is dark outside and you have your headlights on, then move the slider up & down to alter the instrument and control button brightness. The brightness can also be adjusted from the main screen by going into 'Car' menu then 'Lights' menu, if you change the slider position on either screen it alters the opposite screen, I think the swipe down from the top of the screen is simply the short cut option.
  12. You are supposed to buy a newer car when you want to buy a newer car - it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or says. When looked after and maintained properly cars will go on for years and years. Generally speaking with newer cars there is so much more to go wrong than with an older model, and the maintenance costs are higher the newer the car so keep enjoying your Fabia until you feel is the right time to replace it.

  14. Mine is just like new, 72 plate but over 100k miles so plenty of cleaning in that area with a microfibre cloth as it does seem to pick up dust and I like it looking nice and clean. I can't see how Skoda can call it wear and tear as it's not really an area that gets wear and tear. Perhaps you've just been unlucky and the plastic chrome on that particular batch didn't take well to the base surface underneath.
  15. The newer 2.0 litre engine you are referring to is generally a great engine, the one with the problems you describe refer to the older 1.8 petrol engine.
  16. I think as you do more of a stop/start style of covering the miles I would swap to fixed servicing.

New Skoda's have been set to variable (or longlife) servicing since they were new for quite a while now, this 'longlife' service is recommended for people who tend to do longer journeys of say 25 miles or more a day. The longlife service is every 30,000km (or 18,600 miles). If you do mainly shorter journeys you can change to fixed (or annual) servicing, so every 15,000km (or 9,300 miles). It sounds as if yours may be set to the longer service period, but if you prefer get it serviced more regular ask the dealer to set it to fixed servicing routine.

To the best of my knowledge all new Skoda vehicles are still set to variable (or longlife) service regime when new which is up to every 30,000km (18,600 miles) for those who drive generally longer journeys. For people who do mainly shorter journeys the service can be changed to 15,000km (9300 miles - or every 12 months). In your case it looks like it is set to variable servicing so unless you do lots of short journeys I would leave it on the current service schedule and get it serviced when it will let you know via the app and also on the car dash.

  21. My honest opinion would be neither car. Reason being is at 400 miles a week and you want to keep it for at least 6 years you would put another 125,000 on it, that amounts to quite a few total miles and while the Superb is quite capable of doing that total mileage you have to consider maintenance/repair costs as the mileage builds. If you are prepared to pay these potential costs then go for the diesel, reason being who knows what the battery replacement costs could be should the iV require a new battery pack and other related electrical components as well as more regular servicing over longlife services of the diesel. In my opinion (and I could well be wrong) there is less to go wrong with the diesel over time. Others on the forum may well be much more knowledgeable on how a battery pack will survive over extended mileage/time. My money would go on an older lower mileage model - buts that just me.
  22. I had exactly what you describe. Had two PCN's one week then another the following week, I was also nowhere near the violations which were all recorded in and around the East London area - I had been working there a month or so beforehand so I suspect someone spotted my car and noted the registration then put it on a another car of a similar colour, except my car was light blue and the offending car was dark blue (the V5 just says 'blue' so that's good enough for it to be the right car in the eyes of the police & PCN company). Notified the police who really weren't that interested at all, and suggested I either re-register my car or just put up with it. The problem with re-registering it is insurance don't like that sort of thing and when you come to sell it it appears to have a very dodgy history if anyone checks. On the other hand if you keep the current registration you may keep getting PCN's or worse, such as the registration being linked to a more serious motoring offense or armed robbery etc. Once the registration is recorded as being cloned you could also keep getting pulled over by the traffic police as it looks like an illegal vehicle. Really surprised the police weren't interested as I pointed out the offending car is probably stolen and being driven without road fund license, insurance, MOT, no driving license and so on. In the end I kept the registration the same and the PCN's stopped coming and have heard nothing more since then. It wasn't easy convincing the PCN company it really wasn't me, as all the evidence (car registration number) suggested it was me, had to email them a copy of the V5 and several pictures of my car clearly showing it was a different shade of blue, the alloy wheels were different as were the headlights, before they accepted it was a cloned plate. Good luck sorting it out, I hope you find it easier and quicker than I did.
  23. It was removed as some owners realised they had been speeding which the app had recorded, unsurprisingly it was unpopular with these people who complained to Skoda UK, but those who liked the feature now don't have it either which is a shame, a few spoilt it for the many springs to mind.
  24. Nice Superb you have there 👍 I also find it can take quite a while to find the ideal seating position, but as mac11irl says above you will find it eventually - just remember to store it in the memory once you've found it. Oh, and welcome to the Briskoda Forum.
  25. My subscription is due to run out first week of October. If I renew it before the end of August to get the 15% discount will it renew when the current one runs out in October or immediately?
