Common "issues" and solutions with Felicia/Favorit based vehicles
The most common issue for Felicia and Favorit in humid and cold countries is RUST. This is the main reason why the cars end up in junkyards. Here are the areas where rust may start to eat the body. Any constructive and practical ideas for solving the problem before showing up are welcome. We already know there are countries with hot and dry weather where rust is not an issue.

Cooling System
The rust in the coolant is the result of the corrosion of the steel or cast iron parts of the system. Block, liners, intake manifold, pump impeller. Normally the rust must be cleaned mechanically or chemically. The best results I've got so far on EXTERNAL rusty parts is using a rust inhibitor that will neutralize the rust. Not sure what will happen if, let's say, we'd fill the cooling system with such solution. There are some available commercially solutions like Thermocure.

Škoda Forman (Favorit Estate) Test On A Hot Summer Day
So it's Turkey. Nice highways you have there. To me the most telling part of the trip was the long uphill. The engine performed excellent for a car of its age. That is why we love this small family car.

Xenon light intensity
I thought the British MOT regulates everything to the bone. I mean, the light intensity of the headlights has neither minimum nor maximum? Exaggerating a little, it's like saying you can have a candle or the sun inside your headlights. So long they are correctly aimed, ride on... Back on topic. I am thinking of writing to VAG group and ask about some numbers, ideally a light intensity spread diagram function of distance for a new car. I don't think they are very different between Skoda, Seat, Audi and VW.

Xenon light intensity
No too bright or too dim headlights test?

Xenon light intensity
I have watched numerous videos on the matter. They all failed in giving a definitive answer because nobody seems to have any reference data. I wonder if the MOT lighting equipment can do more than checking the correct aim of the beams.

Xenon light intensity
Hello Is there any easy way we can measure the light intensity of a Xenon headlight? I would like to know how much decreased the light intensity compared to brand new.

FELICIA/FAVORIT APPRECIATION THREAD
It is amazing that after more than 20 years, a small Czech car is still loved by so many o us. The only things that made people lose their car were rust, lack of maintenance, abuse or accidents.

RicardoM replied to captain_crunch's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanEvery distributor has bearings. This one too. There are three bronze bearings that have all lubrication points. The holder has one long bearing lubricated.

RicardoM replied to captain_crunch's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanYou wrongly assume that the distributor for Felicia 1.3 with carburetor is one part that goes to the camshaft. In fact it has 2 parts. A holder, that is removed only when the timing cover is removed, and the distributor per se. That is why removing the distributor means in fact removing only the top part of it hold in place by a clamp with a screw.

10" Dash Camera Rearview Mirror in my Felicia
The quality of the video is not that good. But after I visited his page on skoda-virt, I saw this image and now it's clear. The hard way he pushed into the camera to unlock the trunk fooled me and made me think he disabled the key lock to discourage possible thieves. Thank God the camera is recessed below the surface of the button.

RicardoM replied to captain_crunch's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanI respect that. Good description. Now we have a better image of the entire situation. The best thing you did was changing the gearbox. In order to get full engine power/peak engine performance/good acceleration, the following prerequisites are mandatory: good fuel delivery good engine breathing (both inlet and exhaust) good ignition and ignition timing good valve timing good compression Now, to answer your question, a stuck distributor affects directly the ignition timing, hence the combustion, hence top speed and acceleration.

RicardoM replied to captain_crunch's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda Forman@captain_crunch I have just realized that you didn't tell us HOW the low power fault started to occur. The history. Was the low power issue always present since you have the car? Was it a sudden drop of power? Any guess what other thing happened prior this issue? Was it a slow decay of power?- Skoda Members' opinion is required
RicardoM replied to captain_crunch's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanTrust @Wino and me. He played a lot with carburetors, Pierburg 2E3 included. In fact I think he still has a few in his den - Skoda Members' opinion is required
