@areed Sorry to hear about the HGF so quick. It is hard to tell what is the cause of premature failure. Both the quality of the HG and of the coolant seem to have played a role. I tend also to agree with @R_Blue

@Thefeliciahacker I recommend creating a new topic for the head gasket job because this one was hijacked as usual.

It is a modified car indeed. Too bad the engine is the old 1.3 SPI while the body is MK2.

Try to keep the old head gasket intact to be able to "read" it and find out where the leak occurred. Take photos on both sides twice. Once with the head gasket as is (wet and dirty) and once after you cleaned it with a rag. Of course, the corrosion of the head will tell you also the story.

I wouldn't go for shortcuts. Do it by the book. What may appear as a time saver, it will bite you in the rear later. Buy quality replacement parts for gaskets, liquid gaskets, bolts, nuts,etc. Be methodical and attentive to details. You do the head gasket job once for many years to come.

You are looking at a head gasket job. Not the end of the world. There are plenty of topics with great photos in this section. Bite the bullet and do it.

I was referring to manufacturer of the car. Skoda in our case.

I advise everybody to stay away from any "additives" that promise to do wonders. It is just marketing BS. Use only what the manufacturer advised.

A good original gasket doesn't need sealant.

@R_Blue Go with original NGK spark plugs and you'll be fine.

Skoda recommends to start driving immediately but without going to town with revving. Normally the engine will warm up in about 5 minutes. Then you can go to rally with this small family car.

It depends of the size of the leak and other variables.

My Felicia going strong after 24 years although it is my 2nd car to use daily. You can't beat its reliability.
