Wheel spin
that's why I got winter set, why throw away tyres you can use for 6 months a year, and do say 5000 miles a year for next 4-5 years. If you have a set of Tiguan winter wheels, what size are they, do the fit a Karoq

Original wheel/rim characteristics
The data (size, ET etc) is usually on the rim, but on the inside, you might be able to photograph it by holding camera under car, although might need to move car slightly until info rotates to bottom, not in wheelarch https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b This Skoda rim catalogue has lot of size data, can order them from parts Dept, or get rims from other retailers. Then just source the tyres on internet.

Wheel spin
Temperature is answer. The tyres from from the factory are Eco biased warm weather tyres to improve fuel savings at warm (I think it is 23c) test temperatures. They go hard when cooler, and wet grip falls off sharply below about +10c, (maybe even bit higher, say +13c). Nearer 6c in dry Quite simply they are not designed for year round use in UK, either need to switch to winter set of tyres Nov-March or change them to all season tyres. Nothing wrong with the car, just basic physics and coefficient of friction. A non grippy tyre in colder weather is not going to grip so wheel will spin if put lot of power to it. Change the tyres, for ones that work in cold rain, all will be sorted. I had similar problem with my Arona (and that is 1 litre DSG), bought set of winter tyres and never spun them since, even when frosty. Skoda do a rim catalogue, order set via parts Dept or other retailers, then source tyres on internet. Alternatively change to all season, but will have tyres to throw away, whereas you could use them for next few years April-Oct https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/639a0118-4da5-446b-a786-86e1f789b57b Winter tyre sets big advantage is can switch wheels around to even out wear, when swapping sets. The front left always wears faster than rear right (due to roundabouts), and by even out wear usually can get to 60k+ miles with the 2 sets, before have to buy 5th new tyre. So compares favourably with those who buy 2 new tyres about every 20k miles.

1.0 TSI manual: difficult to pull away smoothly
The UK brochure has no model with drive mode as standard, shows as cost option on Monte Carlo spec only Only 4 of 15 specs in UK come with 6speed manual gearbox, so not going to be that common here either. 7 of 15 UK specs are 7speed DSG https://www.skoda.co.uk/_doc/775d73bc-eb9d-4a50-911e-863d73b99333

THE Winter Tyres Thread
If you go for the 17 inch rims for the Kodiaq which take 215/65 R17 tyres, then there is very good selection of premium winter tyres in that size. Might be cheaper to order rims separately, then order the tyres to be fitted to them. Although maybe can get a good deal on complete wheels. Generally tyres are easy to order on internet. Ordering rims is bit more effort as fewer places sell them that advertise online (use the linked catalogue and phone up your nearest dealers parts Dept for a price too) Good 215/65 R17 winter tyres include (what you choose will depend on price and availability), so here is shortlist. : Bridgestone blizzak LM-005 Continental TS870 P Dunlop winter sport SUV Goodyear Ultragrip performance + SUV Hankook i*cept evo3 x W330 SUV Michelin pilot Alpin 5 Pirelli winter Sottozero 3

Looks like price (in Germany) starts at €43,840 (which is £38,335)

Tyre pressure warning pinged up!
I don't think I would worry to much if your rear tyres have 4-5mm of tread after a front-rear swap But I wouldn't be happy putting worn tyres with under 3mm tread at the back, maybe this is where the putting new tyres on back idea came from.

Front assist sensor unavailable.
The sensors can get blocked by muddy water. wet leaves, dead flies, snow etc Sometimes clears itself after few miles, occasionally will need wipe over then clears itself. Probably coincidence that didn't reoccur after pumping up tyres.

Superb mk4 Launch info and video
Like the new Kodiaq, what's the point of having a big lever if there are no manual versions. Probably just a general tidy up so basic design can be used for next new model too (which will probably be the proposed electric Elroq, which is a Karoq sized electric car) The Fabia and Octavia are relatively new, Scala and Kamiq just had facelift so probably continuing until 2026-2027. But will probably take 8-10 years before the petrol versions of existing models get fully phased out.

Superb Mk4
Almost certainly, it seems it shares many of the features and spec levels of the new Kodiaq and that isn't likely to be cheap For comparison the current (mk3) has brochure price of £31,325 to £45,310 for hatch (before adding options), and £32,605 to £46,595 for estate (before adding options). Adding just token number of options puts over half the range over the £40,000 tax threshold

Kamiq spare wheel
Kamiq uses 5 bolt with 100 spacing and centre bore of 57.1mm Kamiq come with 16, 17, 18 inch wheels in various European countries, tyre sizes are different so outside diameter only varies by few mm. From memory some with biggest diameter won't quite fit in wheel well (literally just few mm to big, although tyres with worn tread (so few mm smaller) will. A special space saver skinny tyre is also an alternative, but bear in mind if you have 18 inch wheel with 215/45 R18 tyres they are obscure size so don't be surprised if got to wait few days for a replacement to come from central warehouse if get bad puncture, as unlikely to be one in stock at local centre.

VRS MK4 Road Noise
Anyone who goes on Bridgestone website will see their description, nothing about quietness, comfort etc. One thing they are not is an all year tyre designed to let your passengers waft along in peace and comfort. Basically not going to get a very quiet tyre in the 19 inch size, it's more a vanity (pretty) size rather than a practical or quiet size MASTER YOUR JOURNEY, AWAKEN YOUR SENSES Potenza is Bridgestone's dedicated range for the performance segment. All in One Policy vs Actual Practice at the garage?
Interestingly this just made me look at the policy documents for my Seat All-in-one taken out during discount period in August 2022. Discovered it includes full software updates to latest at both services, wheels off to fully check brakes at major service (not just visual from underside). A set of spark plugs are included, as is pollen filter and air filters (not paid extras). Also there is long list of items to be included in the inspection report, and a full road test each time (presumably not just driving few metres to service bay) Incidently current Seat offer is £630 if anyone is interested

Superb mk4 Launch info and video
https://www.skoda-storyboard.com/en/skoda-world/all-new-skoda-superb-world-premiere-2023/ The new Superb continues the tradition of spacious and refined cars. Modern materials and technology will offer passengers even greater comfort, and the interior space, both for occupants and luggage, is also larger. The fourth generation comes with a wealth of options to choose from. The Superb will continue to be available in Combi estate and hatchback body styles, and customers will be able to choose from seven different interior designs, six powertrain options including a plug-in hybrid variant, and all-wheel drive. There will also be a premium Laurin & Klement trim level. “The Superb has been the flagship of Škoda’s internal combustion engine range for more than 20 years. In its fourth generation it will continue to be just that, offering an even more refined, sculptural design, outstanding spaciousness and cutting-edge technology,” says Klaus Zellmer, Škoda chairman of the board. New colours and more space The exterior proudly displays Škoda’s new design language, Modern Solid. Customers will be able to choose from a total of eight colour shades, six of which are completely new. These are Purity White and the metallic shades of Pebble Silver, Ebony Black, Cobalt Blue, Carmine Red and Ice Tea Yellow. The new Superb is larger than the previous generation, with the body boasting improved aerodynamics. The lower drag coefficients are 0.23 for the hatchback and 0.25 for the Combi estate, improvements of 10% and 15% respectively contributing to reduced fuel consumption. The front of the car is dominated by a new octagonal grille and second-generation LED Matrix beam headlights, which deliver up to 40% more light output than the first version. The wheels can be up to 19 inches in diameter. “The Superb has traditionally shaped Škoda’s design language and the fourth model generation will continue to do just that: its looks are characterised by sharply drawn lines, clearly defined dynamic proportions and a modern sculptural and crystalline styling. We have also managed to significantly improve the aerodynamics of both the hatchback and the Combi estate, while at the same time offering passengers even more space,” says Oliver Stefani, head of Škoda Design. The Superb offers more space for both occupants and luggage. Both body variants are longer and taller than their predecessor (by 40 mm and 5 mm in the Combi, 43 mm and 12 mm in the hatchback), so passengers will not only have more legroom, but more headroom as well. The boot remains huge, with the hatchback boasting 645 litres of space (a 20-litre increase) and the Combi 690 litres (30 litres more). Practicality and sustainability The interior of the fourth-generation Škoda Superb is practical in terms of both space and storage and also controls and functions. The dashboard is uncluttered and elegant, dominated by a large 10" or 13" infotainment screen, with a 10" Virtual Cockpit for the driver. A special feature of the new generation are the multi-function Smart Dials, which provide quick and easy access to various functions, including air conditioning adjustment. The seven different interior Design Selections create a pleasant environment for the occupants, and the materials used place a particular emphasis on sustainability. All textile materials on the seats and door trim are made from 100% recycled polyester, for example, while the leather is tanned using an environmentally friendly process. The ice scraper in the tank cap and the umbrella in the door, which the Superb was the first to feature, are now also made from sustainable materials. State-of-the-art technology The cars are powered by one of six engine variants. The 1.5 TSI unit with 110 kW has mild-hybrid technology, while the 2.0 TSI unit in 150 kW and 195 kW versions delivers plenty of power. The fuel-efficient 2.0 TDI diesel will be available in 110 kW and 142 kW versions. The sixth powertrain is a plug-in hybrid that combines a 1.5 TSI unit and an electric motor. The latter delivers a system output of 150 kW (204 hp) and enables an all-electric range of more than 100 kilometres on the WLTP cycle. This unit will be exclusive to the Superb Combi estate. All variants of the latest-generation Superb have a DSG automatic gearboxwith the selector on the steering column, and the most powerful diesel and petrol engines come with all-wheel drive as standard. A range of advanced driver assistance systems (such as the new generation of parking assistance systems, assisted driving and blind-spot monitoring) will make driving the car easier. The optional DCC Plus Adaptive Chassis will provide a superior driving experience. The Superb also boasts cutting-edge safety equipment with up to ten airbags, and advanced connectivity.

Best tires for grip on octavia VRS MK3
Used to have same problem, then discovered winter tyres, and regardless of muddy field run off, greasy salted roads, cold rain, frost, sleet etc. regardless if it is +15c or -5c grip they like a dry summer road. Never been able to spin the wheels in cold rain since. And as a bonus on the rare days we have had snow never been stranded, and we have some steep hills in South Cotswolds, and snowploughs round here are sparse, even some B roads won't see one for days after snowfall.

Best Winter Tyres
Yes for some, as that is on the data sheets that tyre manufacturers produce. Sometimes these are on manufacturers websites, or if not gives more general (non scientific) description which says similar. There is no such thing as a UK spec tyre, the specs are in world regions, and we get European spec. Virtually all the UK tyre factories have closed so not likely to be UK tyre either. In Europe there is basically now 4 specs of road tyre (excluding specialist types and off road etc). Summer, All season, Winter, Nordic. The first is what factory fits, it is seasonal (not all year), not optimised for use in colder months November-March. The one for all year use is the all season (clue in the name), winter is self explanatory, suitable for when temperatures are generally below about +12c, and Nordic (which aren't on sale in UK) for Scandinavia and North Eastern European winters where lying snow and temperatures below -15c regularly occur. The exact temperature thresholds vary by brand and formulation.

Best Winter Tyres
Not true, the tyres the cars are delivered with are Eco biased tyres optimised for WTLP test temperatures (about +23c), much warmer than UK average. Generally in the wet the winter tyres will outperform the summer tyres below about +10c (yes might be nearer +4c in complete dry), but in UK get rain below about +10c more like 6-8 months a year. We don't get warm tropical rain.

Any tips on driving an automatic?
You can ease the brake pedal (not have it fully pressed down), just ahead of going, sort of tells the car to get ready so won't be a delay when you want to move. You can also do this, or wiggle steering wheel if using start-stop to make car ready to go. The front radar will also restart it if car in front moves off

New to a Superb,
The facelift was 2020 Cambelts are about every 130,000 miles, no official time limit, but estimated about 12-15 years on EA211 tsi engines. For long while there was 5 year recommendation to change cam belt in UK, but this is now amended to match Europe Basically same engine is used throughout VW group models, but there are different power versions The 2 litre engines have varied a bit in power depending on which euro6 emissions spec, they were built to, eg euro6d temp is different to euro6. There used to be a 1.4tsi, later became 1.5tsi

Best tires for grip on octavia VRS MK3
@Neil26111 If you are spinning the wheels at mid autumn temperatures then it will get worse as temperatures fall towards winter. Quite simply some summer tyres grip in wet falls off below about +10c to +13c (exact amount varies by tyre brand and type). Down to around +6c and some can be quite poor in wet. If it's cold enough for salted roads (which become damp) then some summer budget tyres are close to hopeless If you want to drive your car in a very spirited way, then need to use high performance winter tyres from about mid October to end March even in UK. It's just not possible to have tyres with very high grip from about -10c to +35c (there is trade off between grippy and too soft and sticky, rubber is hard when cold, oozy when hot, so have to be comprise in ideal temperature range). If you are more of a general driver (and don't care about saving tenth of second on a lap), just want good tyres all year then consider premium all season tyres. If you want a recommendation for performance winter tyres, can I suggest Goodyear Ultragrip performance 3, or Michelin pilot Alpin 6 or Pirelli P zero winter, or Continental TS870 Price and availability in size required might limit your choice.
