Rear Brake Disc Covers Rusted
be worth when you get them taking the belt and braces approach and throw a lick of paint on them, then fitting. They seem to be the most mildest of mild steel.

Assuming it's petrol, yes they're 340mm. If it's diesel, they're 312mm

They're there to shield the discs from water and grim from the road. As far as I know, they're not a necessary part of the braking system, more a bit of protection. Mine on the rear are looking a bit worn and I think when I've the time, a lick of hammerite wouldn't go amiss.- LED headlight adjustment
Have a look by the headlight unit and by one of the sides, there's a hex sized hole where you can adjust the height of the beam manually. That's for xenons, mine used to illuminate the floor!!- Work straight out the box
Rather than piddle about with LED bulbs, I would invest in quality halogen bulbs like Osram Night Breakers. I've the Night Breaker lasers in my bike and the difference is astonishing. They are pricey as £20 a pair, but they're worth it.- 2016 1.2 TSI vs 2017 1.0 TSI
My mum has a 1.0tsi 115 scala and we've been 5 up in that and the otherwise quiet engine did struggle a little bit and sounded quite worked. My dad was driving at the time and said 'I'm having to keep the revs up to keep us moving.' He's driven my car and says an engine of that size wouldn't be suitable unless you're prepared to rag the nuts off it all the time. I've had a go it my mum's car and for 1 person to go to work, nip the shops or go anywhere else local, it's competent enough. If it was needed for longer journeys with more people and more luggage more often, we would have steered towards an octavia with a 1.5tsi 150 engine. So in your case, I would say a 1.4tsi would prove a better purchase.- Sasha’s Octavia vRS
it normally turns off when you go above a certain speed- Rear brake disc/pad change
Other way round, jack it up using the OEM jack on the sill where the arrow is and then put your axle stand on that section where the rubber thingy is. That's a garage lift up point.- Bonnet bras - Yea or Nay?
Should have added "in our country" to the end of my post. I've only ever seen them on ASBOmobiles in Britain. Your environment poses more of a risk to your safety and your car, so fitting one would provide protection.- Bonnet bras - Yea or Nay?
you need to be sectioned if you fit the above to your car.- Meteor grey vRS - what colour alloys?
Black alloys look nice, but they look awful after only a few journeys after cleaning them. I've got black wheels on my motorbike and they look great, but being a little more exposed to the elements, they capture the gunk that bit easier and you can see it clearly on them. I'm a fan of the anthracite on my gemini wheels, they don't look filthy even after a couple of weeks and I feel the brake dust 'blends' in with their colour. It all depends how OCD you are about cleaning your car. I've found it to have been a worthwhile exercise when I did my spring clean of my car to take each wheel off and then polish and wax them. All in the bolt holes, in the centre cap recess and everywhere else. Does make a big difference when cleaning as it only takes a pressure wash to lift the vast majority of the dust off. Especially if yours are going to be getting refurbed anyway, it be worth seeing if the place where they're getting done does the ceramic coating. Having that would not only protect the new finish, but make them easier to clean as well.- Adjust camber?
Any such work on suspension does need your alignment checking over. You can never set it up properly by assuming it's 'back near enough'. Surprised you've not noticed the handling of the car is bad, especially if the tyres have worn out so quickly as you say.- Installing Speed Cameras on The Amundsen MIB2 - Free Database and Quite Simple to Do!
@bigade1 this works all OK on the columbus MIB2. question for you though, is there is way of changing the alert distance to the camera?- Getting auto headlights to turn on earlier
is the option on the infotainment not doing it's job? I've the sensitivity on mine set to medium and I've never felt the need to manually intervene. I do feel sometimes on a slightly overcast late afternoon the lights can very occasionally come on a bit premature, but I feel the middle setting is the best all rounder.- Installing Speed Cameras on The Amundsen MIB2 - Free Database and Quite Simple to Do!
I've seen this thread a few times now (assuming it pops back up the top when there's an update) but I've just put this onto my second SD card, put it into my Columbus MIB2 and it appears to have accepted them. I've searched the thread, but I've not found a definite yes or no if they do indeed work on the Columbus. I'll be off the gym in the morning and I know I'll be driving past at least 2 cameras (a red light and a normal speed camera). I've set them to appear on my POI's and hopefully I've set them to 'ping' when I'm in their vicinity, so fingers crossed all looks good to go. I'll report back tomorrow.- Best panel filters / intake systems for petrol VRS
On all my vehicles I've always run K&N filters. Always found them to be easier to maintain. As said above, when people do clean them, they reoil it within an inch of it's life. You only need a light spray across.- What bulbs can I change?
You'd have to piece together your own kit. There isn't a 'ready to buy' one- What bulbs can I change?
And so they have, probably because no sod bothered to carry one.- What bulbs can I change?
Supposed to, yes, but it's not the law, BUT..... the police over there do take pleasure in fining. The main thing I've seen people getting 'spoken to' about is speeding. For a lot of vehicles you can't change the bulbs at the roadside. Loads of Citroens are bumper off jobs. Woe betide someone driving a PF mk3 has their front indicator go, as you'd be expected to have a scalpel, the repair cap, as well as a bulb. Be fun trying to change that at the roadside. The best thing I'd suggest is to ensure you've all your documents, the breath test kits, a warning triangle and a hi viz within reach in the cabin for everyone who'll be in the car. European breakdown and recovery is a must. Also, make sure the minute you're off the ferry / chunnel to switch the beam direction on your infotainment menu.- MK3 Octavia front doors seem a bit small
Don't worry about Tyrone, he can move when he has to........ I'm just on 6ft3, 13st and size 12 feet. Can't say I've any issue with getting in and out, nor the use of the car. I find I fit into the side bolsters very well. Not too loose, but not too tight. I sit probably a bit closer than I realistically need to, but I find the car easier to control with my arms and knee with a little more of an angle already in them- What would you change about your Octavia?
I know, it's a proper pipe dream car setup. But a diesel hybrid with an auto 'box is attainable. Many new buses, certainly the double deckers, have them fitted.- What would you change about your Octavia?
The main thing, as people have already mentioned, which I would definitely want is more sound deadening. I wouldn't say it's loud when you're at motorway speeds, but this is room for improvement. In an ideal world I'd like my dream octavia to have; 4wd with a rear bias, a manual gearbox, a diesel with around 300hp and a mild hybrid system. - Rear Brake Disc Covers Rusted
