  1. If ever I've been out and had a 'brisk' journey, when I'm getting closer to home keep an eye on the oil temperature. It would appear (just from what I've found) if the oil temperature is above 100c, the car won't cut out and the fans will be going like mad. An end from any fast drive out has a few junctions and 30mph roads so I'm able to calm the car down. If it doesn't cut out when I'm home, I just idle it on the drive for a bit.
  2. The only indication I have of my car doing an active regen is the car not cutting out at the lights. Can't honestly say I've noticed performance being affected.
  3. That's how I'd describe their handling. They're a somewhat twitchy car. Some may say precise steering, but I felt it was darty when I was a passenger in a Cooper S. Sounded decent and went well. It's a B road blaster, but not a car I'd wish to be in for a length of time
  4. think the 18" is for the vrs because of the bigger brakes IIRC
  5. you been on a dyno to get those figures?
  6. I had a DTUK box on my car and ended up taking it off because I kept causing limp home mode and the engine acting daft. I've seen those above DSD videos and it does show how limited the tuning of the CUNA engine is unless you pay stupid money. he best thing if you're worried about the reliability is to ensure you get a custom map done. That way, the tuner can check how your car responds to a change in the map and make adjustments accordingly. I've other fish to fry at the moment, but when things are sorted, I endeavour to get a DSD custom map on my car.
  7. @Sec8200 the service interval is 5 years or 75k miles (iirc). I had an email reminder from my dealership telling me it needed doing. Was your service done at a Skoda dealership?
  8. I replaced mine with a pair of LED bulbs. Housing comes out easy enough (I got it removed using the corner of an old credit card). That circuit isn't canbus managed, so no need for coding.
  9. with your car being a 2016 car, it should be due the 5 yearly cambelt change. I'd get the waterpump done at the same time. As said above as well, if your expansion tank as 'mit silikat' on it, it'll have one of the silica bags in it as well. I'd get that whipped out as well before you have the work done.
  10. it's a full engine out job. Don't think that'd go unnoticed in the asda car park
  11. from what i understand, it'll treat the battery as a the same one, but I'd probably saved you'd be better changing the serial so the car treats it like it's 'third' battery. As long as the battery details which are saved (AH and battery), the car will know how to charge it up.
  12. You don't need the engine on to do the update. Just turn the radio on with the button, get the update going and leave it. Just have to go back once (think about half hour after starting) as the auto turn off happens. It carries on from where ever it stopped.
  13. I've just checked mine out of interest; Installed SW train version MH12_ER_SKG11_P2104_1 Installed SW MU version 0318 Software version H25.14.38_HIGH2.EU by the looks of things, my columbus MIB2 has older software, but I don't have any issues with songs on either of my SD cards
  14. Mine is a 2.0tdi VRS, so they must be thinking about all the diesel engined cars. I picked the car back up over an hour ago and I can't say I felt anything different in how it drove and the mpg coming back home was what I expected. They're not interested in answering questions. As long as they're getting the money, that's all they're interested in.
  15. Been into my local stealership for the cambelt and water pump change and I was told my car was in need of this software. When I asked about it, I was told it improves your catalytic converters efficiency. He got a little panicky when I questioned him about how long this update has been available. When I said the car was serviced October 2020, he just said 'oh it mustn't have been around then'. And judging by the post time stamps above, he's telling a few porkies!!!
  16. If you're having trouble and it's under warranty still, I'd get it into the dealer
  17. @Kestrel2288 what is it you intend to be towing?
  18. They must be a very recent introduction to the UK market.
  19. If you lower the car, you run the risk of having a tow ball height which is too low. In theory, a 15mm drop should be OK because that's the drop which the VRS suspension is. If the tow ball is too low, not only will it be possibly lower than the minimum 350mm laden tow ball height, it could severally affect your car's handling. The best thing to do would be to measure the tow ball height whatever your towing and that will give you an idea of whether you'd be able to safely lower your car.
  20. mine definitely are PS4 and not PS4S. We can't get PS4S in 18" in Britain
  21. yeah, I've noticed there's a slight creaking sound from the suspension, both coming on and off the drive. I've just put it down to the car not being used as much.
  22. Now these are the reasons why I'm made up getting my Mk3 when I had the chance to in 2016. VRS TDI with a manual gearbox Infotainment system separate from the HVAC system The buttons on both the steering wheel and the side of the infotainment screen are physical buttons £30 VED 0% finance The equivalent Mk4 now..... VRS TDI with a DSG 'box only. I don't mind autos, but I prefer manuals An all in infotainment and HVAC screen. The ease of twisting a knob to turn the fan up / temperature up whilst keeping your eyes on the road No physical buttons around the infotainment screen and touch buttons on the steering wheel. I wouldn't like the idea of having to constantly be taking my eyes off the road because I've pressed the wrong button on the steering wheel. £490 VED because with all the options I've on my car, it just tips over the £40k threshold 4.1% finance
  23. Not sure about the brolly, but the scraper is normally always included in the fuel flap. It's Skoda's 'thing'.
  24. I've got them on my car as a replacement for the shocking Bridgestone Potenzas S001's which were on it from new. I think the grip from them, especially in the wet, is miles better. Found them fine in the cold as well. Can't say I've noticed a major difference in the dry, as the Bridgestones didn't struggle there.
