  1. I don't know what to suggest really. Replacing whole engine loom sounds a big job speculatively. Is there some live data monitoring within VCDS or dealer grade diagnostics that could help. Like throttle load, throttle position etc. If you monitor what does it show when there is no throttle response?
  2. Ok. well, it is good that you replied but your engine is completely different to the OP so any responses have little to no relevance when it comes to oil consumption issues I'm afraid.
  3. There is a lot of info on here including the sticky thread towards top of mk 2 forums called 1.8 and 2.0 tsi engine failures. Start from the most recent and work back a little as you won't need to go to far before finding something. Is it the 1.8tsi or 2.0tsi? Anecdotally, on here, the 1.8tsi gets the worst reports on here but both can be susceptible esp if long service intervals are used. There is some hope I suppose if it has only started all of a sudden, that you have a specific fault rather than the clogged scraper ring. Do you see smoke when putting accelerator down hard, have you pulled the plugs, is there any leaking oil on drive (have you pulled the undertray to make sure you don't have an oil leak? When you say much oil, how much are we talking over what distance?
  4. Yep. what he said. Front assist uses the radar.
  5. To me it seems like sensors. When you sat you moved them around, did the fault follow the sensor or stay where it was located? As @MicMacsays run diagnostics, listen, when something is a certain distance away I get no beeps. Silence until reasonably close.
  6. Mine are fussy. Especially at the front for some reason. For example when wet, there was one or two that beeped constantly. I replaced. Now 1 or two others do it when wet..... How much paint is on them? I'd suggest trying a brand new replacement and seeing if it improves things in that position.
  7. I haven't upgraded mine. Still on standard. I have replaced rear springs though. The b12 kit is very respected. If you want it to be flatter, I reckon you need new anti roll bars.
  8. I don't know. There are places that specialise in improved rebuild but it costs £££.
  9. New unit? Which unit? . I think most likely Haldex pump is shot if never serviced. Needs oil change and mesh filter replaced or cleaned. But it could be a wire fault amongst other possibilities.
  10. It is usually the control unit for the fans which is integrated on one of the fans afair. It has could also be a range of other things including fusebox / relay faults. Have you searched the forums for car and model. Is it an oct mk2?
  11. A bit of googling and it seems that is CAN message 4wd system fault. Could be a broken wire, Haldenx pump etc. Has the Haldex unit ever been serviced?
  12. What is the Amundsen+ like compared to the bolero, I know it has BT, and DAB and sat nav. How well does the BT integration work and sound quality compared to Bolero same / improved / worse? Tks
  13. Yeah. ON the turbo cool down time. It applies to petrol an diesel, equally of course. There have been some advances like start , stop and secondary coolant circulation that help. But one principle stand true. It is not great to run the turbo car at 100% demand, pedal to the floor or high demand / revs, and then immediately switch off for the reasons others in this thread have stated. However, most people need to exit a motorway or A road, then drive some suburban roads, then their street, then their house, then switch off. This is ok IMO.
  14. Ebay is often your friend with these sorts of things. Sometimes you get caught out with misdescription and I just send them back for refund! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUINE-SKODA-SEAT-AUDI-VW-PORSCHE-PARKING-SENSOR-5Q0919275B-GRU-Valeo-2020/383935282157?epid=2113691279&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item5964537bed:g:n3sAAOSwWplfl83-&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%2Fn%2BzU5L90Z278x5ickkxFtV7J5P58ubuVigtBH%2Fe4aRHv51%2BCPxhN7AwNmGkmlFO18YrXQlxEvqaddj%2FLr43ic%2BhuBn%2FQkufslzPTmrdPoQjuNsjdVi8jBLd3kxIsh2%2F7uHG24a%2FyCjfUIjCBiwzdEh21Q3tw2tvk4HvixYhxbsTuAtNP6nfRebLWk%2FOHK%2FjGpg2bDW9PGs1J3O9bReRvTBwvzyGotlXKxrYFjlYCpKUt4W6W7B9jEelYwVWUJm0hEmeOVYevc0vxlzujYm07wPB2sYmIjb1xwPEml6tSA0z%2BV3ZiEjC9fDkGA820kqJV7io9CRAllsNfU%2FwwGZwMTnVGqbXYUWXmniuBXxaavdmYWyWIrPK69B%2BOXoynKvj7Z%2BN2Bxfqttn0lJrPJqFsvmt%2FVsoolyR76cjtsTuJrwYcqxSGBgLXxrEMUevVtWxrHKukglrbKQwIzEsKOjt2NpJ4DxnTgGi1Wo0VnqaK3zB41tKlQMtEJFjhFKlgZ%2FuHtx6ooTdwStBTRB%2FV5k3XJGBzAjdPbzElQuID74t9cmnwooNPvUl5lzO6FpSsiB8A9kJx8j%2FLe6Y%2BiODdMCMz%2BugwkvkLKBODbQ9KhZBsiHgQY7XR87ozJNZQ08Ok03gRIaXQm7JleLvvp3WXIWxCe31LXn22isrqtLnI0NytZKWVi2kbyrNxrTpc9tr3E4dSbPlWwICyUAXWZJp3QRYH7%2BXH2Jg6njFe2d2s8CThCMNYHdvi5yKftUe6aC9Hj7SfjwanJ5xxCzWqZPxqHzkbts12OrpXhxulSwopCYjQ%3D%3D|cksum%3A3839352821575668a92f97f74a109bfff5ca5708ef74|ampid%3APL_CLK|clp%3A2334524
  15. Not sure but the boost pressure error suggests the turbo is not giving sufficient boost or a pipework leak. I've never heard that noise on mine but then I've not had a boost pressure regulation fault before.
  16. The y obviously believe a clutch flywheel problem. the slipping drive certainly indicates a clutch problem. Is this the seven speed or in 2009 probably more likely 6sp wet clutch? If your happy with the car and know it's history I wouldn't totally dismiss spending the money. You have to consider what you would buy spending the same money, £1500. Potentially a bag of problems. The biggest cost is labour, clearly, so if you can find a transmission specialist who can dismantle a little quicker or at a lower rate that could be an option. But the biggest risk is facing further costs after disassembly or repair. So the confidence, or guarantee that this will fix the issue is potentially worth more!
  17. I would recommend at least cleaning the air filter more often than once every 5 years even if not replacing. But it does depend a bit on the climate, roads and amount of dust where you drive. I too have a little bit of driving and maintenance experience.
  18. Yes, but without the smoothed section on the screw for the top box to move freely and the thread only be on the bottom section, it doesn't work as well.
  19. The first is evap purge valve covered heaps of times on here. Not all make the noise but if it is not throwing errors I would leave it. The second, as @AlexTud says, is the throttle body butterfly positioning sequence.
  20. It is for you to make that decision. Bear in mind, it is not totally uncommon for parts guys and TPS to get things wrong, they did when planehazza first asked about a replacement and that extract was taken from ETKA at exactly the same time.
  21. Yeah, They're a captive screw, So VW will sell you six, no probs, with a new airbox to go with for £££! But those WHT002087 are identical as I remember just with a phillips head. Mind you they are probably made from the same mild steel so will end up the same way. I did buy some 5mm x 40mm stainless hex heads I was going to file down the flat section but never did get around to it!!
  22. OK. The listing I provided from Rayx is from ETKA. That is the electronic part listing from volkswagen. Edit: and there is definitely a difference in design between the two units. One has an extra checkvalve, the other does not. Whether it will cause any ill effects is open, but there is definitely a "deliberate" difference.
  23. Well. You are right about one thing, they must have supplied heaps of them!! But they are already wrong, saying the other version is for post 2016 cars. That would be a gen 3 EA888 with a different engine code not CCZA or the 1.8 equivalent in Gen2. I'll dig out the extract @rayx provided. He was pretty switched on. And the trouble with computers and technical information, is they are only as good as the user in knowing how to use them! What month year is your vehicle manufacture? That is the important determination according to parts listings. It was sometime mid 2010 there was a changeover. Mine in April 2011 and mine was a AJ but @planehazzavehicle was earlier manufacture, 2009 or 2010 and his PCV was AH. Edit: Extract attached. 14 June 2010 was the changeover day according to this. If yours is after that. OK. CCZA 2.0 TSI separator.pdf
  24. I think there's a career for you in fine electronics or clock spring repairs! Nice.
