Connect Lite trip data
I think it’s the phone battery optimisation settings for the Connect Lite app. I have also allowed the app to use GPS data all the time. To be extra sure, I open the app before starting a trip.

Octavia Mk 3 2013 5e Fuel door actuator
It’s still happening to me every few weeks. I definitely need to get on to TPS and order a 7P0 - 810 - 773 - F actuator on Monday. Meanwhile a decent nylon trim pry tool kept in the glovebox is a must! BJM on 7/2/20

VRS Road Noise
I changed from Michelin PilotSport 4, which were slightly noisier than the previous Continental PremiumContacts, to Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, which so far I’ve found the best of the class. This is in 225/40 R18 Y (92) size, fitted in May. Cost £87 ish each fitted at ATS Euromaster, purchased with a discount from blackcircles.com.

Which oil is recommended for mkIII 2.0TDI?
https://www.opieoils.co.uk/f/2354/26629/2016/engine-oil.aspx 5w30 is the one you need. Opie Oils are selling it as a service pack of 6 litres. Brand is a matter of choice/budget. I buy supermarket for top-ups as long as it’s the correct VW approved spec e.g. Millers Oils Trident Professional or you can go Castrol, Shell or Mobil and pay easily half as much again. A garage will be using industrial quantities of, probably, Quantum.

CC/ACC - What to do with my right foot...
I like your description of your left foot not being calibrated! Neither is mine, my right foot works both pedals. For what to do while on CC, if it’s only a short time, suffer the discomfort of a twisted foot (I’m a size 11). On long motorway stretches, foot flat on the mat.

Octavia Estate: pre or post 2017?
Welcome to the forum, I’m sure you’ll find loads of help and tips on here. @FixItAgainTrevor A TDI Scout sounds like it will fit the bill a treat for when you move to Scotland, AWD for winter conditions, raised suspension, rugged aesthetics for when you need to park way up a trail to make the most of your climbs. Tons of space for kit, x 4 hanging hooks in the boot, good luggage cover for shielding what you’re carrying, very useful. Looks are really subjective, but I think it wears the post-facelift headlight design very well.

About to buy a 2016 VRS Hatch
Great cars @BenUK, I’ve had mine since 2016. I had a leak from the engine-mounted High Pressure Fuel Pump at around 50,000 mile point. Otherwise my only expenses have been tyre replacements, Michelin PilotSport 4, Continental PremiumContact or Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 are usually around £200 a pair from Blackcircles. I average about 35 mpg in my TSI. The Driving Modes take a bit of getting used to. My MY14 Octavia has four driving modes – Eco, Normal, Sport and Individual – which can be accessed via a vRS button on the centre console. This then lists the options on the touchscreen, Normal being the default position. I have found it best to save my preferences in Individual. Eco never seemed to be economical. Normal is a bit bland, Sport too shouty in the car with the engine noise Soundaktor. Mine’s a DSG with shift paddles. I drive with the shifter set to D rather than S, it’s still responsive enough. The paddles are rarely useful in my opinion. Occasional use when a series of different bends in the road leave the automatic mode a bit flat footed. The car’s no sports coupe, but no slouch either and the best drive I’ve had in it was on the A827, along the side of the River Tay in Scotland, following the north side of Loch Tay from Kenmore to Killin and then on the A84 on to Callander. Thee are some really lovely drives to enjoy on the Heart 200 routes. https://heart200.scot/the-route/

Auto DSG high cost repair - please help!!!
Great outcome @Stuart2021 What a feeling it must be to have dodged having to do the transmission work the original garage had advised. They really ought to be held accountable for such a poor diagnosis, they're the professionals! Being "a bit busy" shouldn't be an excuse for poor diagnosis either, but the 2nd garage seem to be a bit more reasonable with giving some refund. I'd say you'd be justified in giving the first place a 1 or 2 star review on Google or Trustpilot, as long as you stay factual on what went wrong. Are they in any Good Garage Scheme?

Anyone running Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres?
Which, if you look back at my post you earlier quoted a snippet of, I had typed 1st =

Anyone running Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres?
Yes. Which bit are you doubting? If you watch the Test YouTube video that may further clarify that Jon doesn’t think there’s much to choose between the PS4 and GY F1 A5... and yes, the Goodyear is cheaper. Isn’t that a good thing?

Anyone running Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres?
My PS4 fronts are approaching end of life. This is on a vRS 220. Had Continental Premium Contact 6 before these. Michelin's probably just have the edge but are definitely feeling more vague now (still legal). I think I'll go for the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 this time, good reviews and 1st = in 225/40 R18 Y spec on latest tyrereviews.com test. Blackcircles for me, with fitting at local Euromaster centre.

Octavia Mk 3 2013 5e Fuel door actuator
My 2013 Octavia has just developed this problem. Tried slim bike tyre levers to pry open the rear edge where it usually releases, but it feels locked tight. Does anybody have photos of the receptacle that the actuator spindle fits into? I may have to buy the actuator too when I do (might be if) get it open, if anyone has the part code handy.

Skoda specialist recommendations near Stafford/Stoke
Which ones have you tried? VAGcar.co.uk in Cannock come up with good reviews and are on the Good Garage Scheme with 100% on their feedback. https://www.goodgaragescheme.com/pages/garage.aspx/6606/VAGCAR+Ltd I have no personal experience in the area, but I've used good garage scheme places at home that I'd go back to again.

Auto DSG high cost repair - please help!!!
All you can really do is shop around for comparative quotes. Maybe best to stick to places in the Good Garage Scheme, looks like there are a fair few near you. Good Garage Scheme I had a DSG box failure on an A3 I owned, it’s not a cheap fix whether it’s electronics, or the physical stuff, as in your case.

Octavia vrs 2016 headunit and screen upgrade
Looks like an Amundsen. There's a page in Settings that will show the code for your hardware. Then do a search on here for that system. Upgrade options will have been discussed at length, I'm certain.

Best tyres for VRS
I've got Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on mine, totally fine wet and dry conditions. Minimal alloy wheel rim protection though, just one thing to be aware of. It was the same with Continental PremiumContacts I had before. My 18" Geminis are a state! Let us know how the Goodyear are.

Grill Stripes
Except his opening post is literally asking for people’s opinions!

Grill Stripes
In my opinion it looks cr*p. What’s the point? Most people who see it won’t have any idea what the colours mean. Honestly, I’d stick to the mean black look and leave the coloured grille bars to the BMW lot.

Poor fuel consumption wth my 2.0TDI 150 DSG
Alternatively it may be doing too many DPF regenerations! : "Re: Vw Golf Mk7 2.0 tdi bluemotion 150 ps 2013/2014 This looks as if the engine is doing a normal DPF forced regeneration. The normal idling revs are 800rpm , when regeneration is in progress it idles faster at 1000rpm. During regeneration the ECU deliberately wastes fuel to heat up the exhaust gas to burn off carbon in the DPF. This results in a temporary period of high fuel consumption. You may also notice the cooling fan continues to run after the ignition is turned off to cool down the hot DPF." see here VWAudiforum DPF Regen Sticky post

Poor fuel consumption wth my 2.0TDI 150 DSG
You don't give the age of the car, total mileage of it, any service history. If it's high mileage with little servicing and an older car, then problems could be accumulating. If the car's only 2-3 years old and serviced correctly, that's good. Does a diesel motor even get warmed up properly in just a 10 Km drive each time? I'm not sure if these have DPF filters, I suspect others will confirm. This will need more than a short, slow drive to activate a regeneration to reduce the ash content. Look on some VW forums to see if this common engine gets posted about for poor economy reasons.

New 2021 VRS running in
Lucky man, I’d love another petrol vRS, but I’m being tempted by the iV model. What’s the spec of the one you’re getting?

Satnav update - idiot guide!
Glad that you've managed to make the update work now @TrinityJay I've set Android Auto to automatically come on when my "older" Android phone (OnePlus 6T; AV 10) connects to my Octavia's Bluetooth. Like you say though @TrinityJay, no dashboard display but simpler layout on the phone, which can be voice-controlled.

Choosing rim color for Octavia
