  1. That could possibly suggest a slightly weak battery. Strongly suggest a decent charge cycle, then a good battery load test.
  2. With a good battery, charged to approx. 75/80% of full charge, stop-start should become available immediately. NB. not all new batteries will arrive fully charged.
  3. Hello David, at the age of your vehicle, I doubt that any warranty provider will be able to supply a reasonably priced policy that will be able to cover your concerns. Given the likely exclusions in any policy T&Cs, I feel you may be better to save any premiums you would pay against the day you need it for repairs.
  4. The keyfob transmitter will transmit the lock/unlock signal at a fixed signal strength, if too far away from the receiver unit, it (the receiver) will simply not operate. Longer operation time of the transmitter keypress is likely to shorten fob battery life.
  5. Hello Bigster, I assume that when you say 'battery has 8 months' you mean it is only 8 months old - is that correct? If you didn't do this before the test, I suggest that you give your battery a full charge, on a good charger at the correct rate - not a 'boost' or trickle charger, then retest after removing the surface charge (headlights on for around a minute) The parasitic drain you report from your radio is possibly skewing your test result.
  6. Has the battery condition been tested?
  7. It would have been good if there was just a little more space provided to get the damper strut back on though.
  8. If you have powdered graphite - or even a soft pencil (not coloured) try some of that on the key blade.
  9. I say old chap, if this water gets any hotter, I'll cook - Py Kory Pakeha, you catch on quick.
  10. Hello, static voltage is not too bad, 9.8 on cranking is a bit low and probably explains sluggish starts. Alternator output looks ok. Are you able to get a recovery voltage reading of the battery (without engine running) immediately after cranking? Do you have access to, or know someone with a good battery tester?
  11. Re. point 1- yes, that is, unfortunately, a possibility - particularly if the type of battery is changed. If your servicing garage has the facility to do this, that should work.
  12. Special tool required to plug into the OBD port - check if there is a member near you who can help, there is a register available somewhere on the forum. The minimum required is to change the logged serial number of the battery (can be a made up number - or as one member posted recently, the date - Eg. 30112022***** for the necessary number of characters.
  13. As the sidewalls of tyres can be quite fragile, attention to leaving clearance from kerbs should be pretty basic.
  14. Even with an identical replacement battery, it is preferable (some say essential) to code the battery monitoring system so that it knows that the battery has been replaced. The original battery is probably EFB type, but will be marked on battery top.
  15. + 1 for the GT85 or PlusGas. A home-made one from a marine forum, but I haven't tried it - mixture of ATF and Acetone - warning do not use heat with this one!
  16. Don't think that's called metal grey. Looks the same colour as SWMBOs Fabia.
  17. The Octavia does, so I assume the Superb will too. I think the main function is to 'sharpen-up' the throttle response.
  18. Hi Scoffer, I'd suggest something more aggressive in the line of release fluids.
  19. The cruise can be very useful in speed-restricted sections of motorway - especially the loooong sections with average speed cams. Standard cruise is not a lot of use in the usual UK motorway mayhem - ACC should be better, but me no have! I recall reading somewhere that you can 'toggle' between the speed limiter and CC, possibly ?? with the mode 1 & 2 switches on the end of the limiter stalk?
  20. Hi Matty, have you got the correct colour? Metal Grey is not silvery. I agree with you on the 6-speed manual though.
  21. To each their own, I guess - I actually like that colour. A lot.
  22. To be fair to the OP, some of the online manuals are not very clear - it seems that only some Mk 3 Fabias have this separate speed limiter control fitted - SWMBOs doesn't.
  23. Hi Jedi, welcome to the forum. I think this is for the speed limiter.
  24. Hi, Mk3 (EA211) 1.4 TSI are belt-driven cams. The older TFSI was the Twincharger, which had some serious issues with high oil consumption. A point to note, Audi still badge their TSI engines as TFSI.
  25. Hi Matty, gearbox certainly should not feel 'rough' in any way (caution) How hot did the engine get? Did you have oil temperature reading dialled up on the dot matrix display?
