  1. Great shot of the harbour and international terminal. Do cruise ships still visit?
  2. Hi, welcome to the forum. Possibly - does your vehicle have a switch near the bottom of the B pillar on drivers side?
  3. IIRC the V5 specifically states that it is not proof of ownership.
  4. Hi Jing, I wonder if this was some sort of immobiliser issue. When this happened, was the key in its usual place? If it happens again, try placing the key fob against the start button when you press it.
  5. Are you able to post an audio recording of the noise?
  6. Hello, welcome to the forum. If the noise you describe is particularly noticeable, it could be that there is an issue with either the starter motor - or the flywheel ring-gear. Does the vehicle have a warranty? My MY16 Octavia is very quiet when starter engages.
  7. Hello Dan, air in the clutch system would cause difficulty in de-clutching and selecting gear, but should not cause the clutch plate to slip and fail unless from serious abuse. The plate uses a diaphragm spring to press the plate against the mating surface on the flywheel.
  8. Hi Pete, that sounds like the posting from Bollcat on 27th May last year. His clutch failed at 2700 miles! 1.0TSI manual.
  9. Incredible how well that engine sounds, given how long it hasn't run.
  10. Hi Ken, was this a reference to the batch of Moll EFB batteries?
  11. That manoeuvre would certainly be 'interesting' from lane 4 on the M25.
  12. Hi Rob, was that a type 82 Kubelwagen at the Cars & Coffee meet?
  13. Just be aware that in the event of an accident, your insurance company could take the view that an accident was 'preventable' if the front assist had been active - they might consider apportioning some fault to you if the system was deactivated.
  14. Hello Paddy, welcome to the forum. Check that the front radar sensor (or mounting bracket) has not been damaged in a minor parking shunt.
  15. Does the battery appear to be recovering OK from low charging?
  16. Hello Columbo, welcome to the forum. Get the battery tested as well, intermittent power steering can be an indication that the battery is failing.
  17. The Love emoticon is for your account of the trip - 😞 is for your wife getting C-19 on the flight home.
  18. Hope you enjoyed your stay in the Old Country Cobber. I guess you're back home now.
  19. Still not an unreasonable expectation - my Octavia has a 6 year old EFB, most mileage is short trips commuting, and always use stop-start, battery still tests as good.
  20. Hi NightShadow, welcome to the forum. From other postings on this question, you will probably get multiple fault warnings light up when you reconnect the battery terminals - but these should all clear after a short drive. If you wish to avoid this possibility, you could keep the car system 'alive' by connecting a 12-volt supply to the power socket, but this is not really necessary.
  21. Although quite reasonable to expect at least 4 to 5 years life from a battery given normal care.
  22. Hi Andy, welcome to the forum. That message means that one of the criteria for allowing the engine to perform an 'Idle stop' has not been met - therefore the engine keeps running (stop-start temporarily disabled) One of the criteria is A/C running - but set temperature not met. Another is possible windscreen misting/fogging conditions.
  23. On Auto setting, the fan speed will adjust in an attempt to get the cabin temperature to commanded temperature quickly (usually full-speed) - then ramp fan speed down as temperature approaches set point.
  24. Hi Beaumont, welcome to the forum. I'm afraid I don't know the answer - but I very much suspect there may be very significant differences between the two body styles. Ask the supplier for clarification - and an assurance in writing that it will fit. You might need to supply them your VIN.
