  1. What year is your Superb - is it MK2 or Mk3? Does it have automatic stop start? How undercharged was the battery? If your vehicle is fitted with a 'smart' alternator, the battery will typically only be charged to around 75% max. on the alternator alone.
  2. The oil usage was stated as .5 litre (1/2 litre) in 300 miles. Still excessive though.
  3. Enforcement likely to be a problem if the speed limit isn't correctly signed.
  4. Engine code is listed in the first part (3 or 4 letters) of the engine number, this will be found on the vehicle registration papers - it is also often marked on the B pillar load plate.
  5. I tried purchasing a 32gb card from Ali last year, card never arrived and had quite a lot of trouble getting a refund - eventually got a transaction reversal from Amex - Ali customer support was non-existent!
  6. So a TDI then? There is no way that changing the oil viscosity or brand will stop the high oil consumption that you say you have - > 1.5 litres in 1000 miles! There has to be something seriously wrong somewhere. Was a piston damaged when the valve spring broke? If compressions are OK as you say, oil must be getting lost via the valve stem or turbo seals.
  7. Hello, welcome to the Forum. You have not said what engine you have. Were the cylinder compressions tested after the top rebuild?
  8. 'Computer says NO' 😬
  9. Good morning, welcome to the forum. How old is the battery - have you had the battery fully tested?
  10. Good morning, from your original post, am I correct that the rear alignment was within spec. prior to the accident - do you still have that report sheet? If the vehicle is still covered by the repair warranty, I'd suggest that you contact both the insurance Co. and the repairer. My interpretation of the rear toe graph is that the rear axle is toed-out to the left. When you drive in a straight line, are you aware of having to counter-steer slightly to the left?
  11. Get the battery tested as well.
  12. The reasoning behind replacing the water pump at the same time as the cambelt on TDIs is because the pump is driven by the belt - and the TDI pump was prone to a relatively short lifespan. If the belt was to be replaced without doing the pump, the belt would need to be replaced again in the eventuality of the pump failing shortly after. This is not the case with TSIs (not certain about MPI)
  13. Hello, a strong possibility that the 'knock' last October is the cause for that small change in toe. Unless the axle was bent in the accident, I believe that it is actually possible to make limited changes in alignment with the torsion beam axle setup.
  14. I've not seen what the ABS sensor clearance is - but I'm guessing not large - excess float in bearing could conceivably change gap sufficiently to trigger fault. As the pad to disc clearance is also very small, worn bearings could be causing excessive contact.
  15. Not sure with the MPI - but believe that it is only the TDIs that run the water pump off the cambelt.
  16. How do the wheel bearings feel on that side?
  17. I was wondering about the possibility of the fuel filler angle being slightly lower than normal with the rear spring broken on the same side.
  18. ^^^^ + this - and there are a number of references on the forum to a failing crankshaft sensor not raising a fault code when engine fails to start.

No, but the front assist does. AFAIK, ACC uses the front assist radar to operate it - I'm not certain if ACC retrofit also requires a certain model of front camera (A5) but I have seen references to ACC being successfully retrofitted.

Try a PM to @East_Yorkshire_Retrofits for feasibility and cost.

Try a search on the forum - ACC retrofit.
  22. Do you mean crankshaft position sensor? (rather than 'Camshaft') - this can apparently cause the issue of diesels cranking but failing to start - and seems fairly common.

There are members on this forum who can decode what options are factory fitted from the VIN.
  24. Provided the indicator lights do extinguish when the engine is started, nothing to be concerned with - normal operation.

If ACC is particularly important to you, a retrofit is usually possible and may be worth considering.
