  1. So did you have a remap and EGR delete to "fix" the EGR fault ? A faulty EGR sytem will cause smoke on most diesels, one bad one I have seen plenty of is when they fail on a duratec transit, the smoke then is pretty significant !!.... the fault code you have is related to the EGR, now unless that is "removed" from the vehicle programming, its always going to be there as the EGR is not working and the ECU will see it. A remap on a diesel basically tells it to throw more fuel in, so thats what it does, it fuels or "overfuels quicker"........ I doubt you will ever find / see a remapped diesel that does not smoke to some extent when you boot it, the problem is some remaps are a lot better than others....it's amazing how many "mappers" have appeared over the years on all makes of cars and they suddenly become tuning experts with a laptop and some software.
  2. The wiper motor feeds also come through that coupler I mentioned.
  3. well 2 options...... Find the break OR just splice the feed off the N/S to the O/S. PS there is a BLUE connector / coupling station on inside of the boot, left side behind trim....the connections come through there, the other place it "could" be broken is inside the rubber boot between the door and the body, if there is power at the coupling station, then the break is in the rubber boot.
  4. Each lamp has it's own power feed from the onboard supply control unit. It's the same feed that powers the side lights on the respective side of the vehicle. Are the O/S side lights working ?
  5. your in Fabia forum.........
  6. If they are facelift lights they will fit your car
  7. the link to headlights does not work for me............... yours looks like a facelift to me.
  8. what do you hope to achieve ? more bass, more volume ? does it have front and rear speakers already ? and are they a component set (seperate tweeter) ? Would a sub provide you with what you need. I think thats what the standard hifi lacks, some low down punch.
  9. here you go.......I think after 2010 the CD changer was replaced with the MDI unit.
  10. A RNS 310 or 315 with "built in" bluetooth should work (note they don't all have bluetooth, check label shows a MAC address not 0's)........It just would not show info on maxidot etc as you dont have one, but the screen on the stereo would show the info.
  11. its always best to be the same...........unless you can be sure the ones with a diff letter suffix are a superceeded version, but its best to check with a dealer in that instance. PS those I linked are the same. EDIT..........if there are no error codes, maybe its a power supply issue.........if your handy with a soldering iron maybe worth taking apart and "reflowing" those connections at the power plug.
  12. if a specialist cannot fix it...............dont see any other way other than to replace, unless offcourse your not confident in the companies ability ?? one here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-1-2-BBM-INSTRUMENT-CLUSTER-CLOCKS-5J0920901B-2009/143632350195?hash=item217127bbf3:g:C30AAOSwhiVe54pT and here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-5J-1-2-1-4-16V-MANUAL-INSTRUMENT-CLUSTER-SPEEDO-DIALS-CLOCKS-5J0920911B/143850375049?fits=Model%3AFabia|Cars+Year%3A2009&hash=item217e268789:g:OFoAAOSwE0NftVJA Also was the vehicle plugged in to diagnostics as the dash panel does have the ability to store / log faults to be read
  13. dunno what dealer was quoting....... I bought the "most connections" electrical drivers door loom for Fabia 2 which is 4 electric windows, heated electric mirrors etc and that was only £95.........unless offcourse prices have gone up a lot. The loom is the correct "fit", but A) may not be ref what equipment and B ) maybe faulty.... if you look at the attached images, the 07 looms have a totally different connection at the A pillar (circled), yours has the large "big" plug from 2008 onwards as in the other image.
  14. So did you buy the car like this ???? To determine correct loom, we need to know what you have fitted as standard equipment :- 1. Electric windows x 2 OR 4 2. Electric heated mirrors 3. Remote central locking 4. Alarm I think yours would come under 2008 and uses the "newer" style loom.. http://www.oemepc.com/skoda/part_single/catalog/sk/markt/CZ/modell/FAB/year/2008/drive_standart/608/hg_ug/971/subcategory/972035/part_id/2552207/lang/e#sec_2
  15. do the wires test ok ? I am assuming you have pulled back what looks like heatshrink otherwise it looks very easy for the red/ white trace to short to earth
  16. The thick red is most likely red with white trace, this is the main power feed to the motor for the window lift, all browns are earth and the Blue will also probably have a trace colour as well.
  17. to be honest no idea, but anything is possible with these VAG cars and the way they are wired, especially when a fault is present somewhere. The main issue is......The drivers door is the "master" control unit for the windows, so "if" there is a fault there and OR with the wiring then any combination of errors is possible. The loom has obviously been repaired before, now personally I don't think there is enough room to do a decent repair in that small area, many will argue different I'm sure, but for me a new loom is the best fix. So yours has been soldered, this has to be the first port of call to check the repair is still sound because over time, vibration and OR corrosion can affect a soldered joint in vehicle wiring and offcourse that is also "assuming" it was a good repair to start with. Have a good look at the solder repairs and check continuity "either" side of the repair to prove its good. PS what colour wires were repaired ?
  18. ok try holding the key in unlock in the passenger door and see if the windows operate
  19. not sure how an MOT would pick up a loose timing chain unless had become very noisy / had a rattle, even then it plays no part on the MOT........does it have a high mileage ? Anyway, I know it sounds obvious but its either something that "moves" or flexes when the engine twists rearwards as you accelerate, OR it's something already spinning which "catches" when the engine throttles / speeds up My first port of call would be to have a look at the dog bone / pendulum rear engine mounting, if thats worn its possible that could be it, it's at the back on the bottom of the engine. Check its all sound and not worn, ie the rubber has not perished and it's on metal to metal which contacts as the engine twists backwards.
  20. do all the doors lock from passenger door "including" the drivers door ? also check fuses 45 51 52
  21. Why was the timing chain replaced on a 2014 MY car ? thats where I would be looking.
  22. you need to verify the door looms especially the previously repaired ones to ensure all is good, soldering on a car is often not a good idea especially on something that moves and flexes.
  23. shut all doors, lock the car, wait 30 sec, then unlock AND hold the key in the unlock position to see if the windows come down ?
