  1. I think this may have been true for some time just described in a different way. Our late 2019 SE L 190 TDI Karoq has flappy paddles by virtue of having the heated steering wheel, I remember checking the options at the time and that was one pack.
  2. In hypnotic parlance it's known as "future pacing". It embeds the idea that it's going to happen and gives people time to prepare for it. I'm glad I bought a Euro 6 Yeti rather than my original plan to buy a 170 TDI one. I wonder if we'll see the value of Euro 6 diesels go up.
  3. Obviously. In fact, I think it was the same private road that he took me down with 175 showing on the speedo of his Lamborghini.
  4. A friend of mine deliberately went through one with 175 mph on the speedo and it didn't flash.
  5. Possibly yes. That could be the upside. The downside is that the added weight transfer during rapid take-offs will inevitably lead to wheelspin and/or traction control intervention. As someone who's interested in how a car goes, stops and handles, that's not a trade off I'd be prepared to make.
  6. I don't understand why people buy tall cars that are only FWD. The complaints I see about wheelspin from 1.5 TSI DSG cars when taking off quickly, only reinforce this. I certainly wouldn't have bought our current 190 TDI if it hadn't been AWD.
  7. Do you mind saying who your local VAG independent specialist is? If it were my car, I'd be taking it to Star Performance in Dysart, here in Fife.
  8. I've got the, apparently very rare, electrically adjustable driver's seat with heated leather on both front seats in my 2016 Yeti SE L Drive. Coming from a Mk5 Golf GT Sport, three previous VW Tiguans and our current 2019 Karoq SE L with heated leather, I don't find the Yeti's driver's seat to be at all comfortable. The seat cushion is too hard and flat, the bolsters aren't big enough to support me under hard cornering and I can never get the electric bolster adjustment quite right. I keep thinking about sourcing a pair of Mk1 Tiguan seats to see if they'll fit. Since both cars are on the Mk5 Golf platform, they should...
  9. Are they still in business...? I used to buy parts from them in Edinburgh in the mid 70's.

Aye, weel remembered, Sir.... My wife's 2019, SE L 190 TDI on its 6.5 J x17" Audi Q3 alloys with 215/60 x 17 Dunlop D5 Winter Sport. ET on these wheels is 33mm and the car drives very well on them.
  11. I'm not so sure that's entirely correct. I bought a 2016 Yeti SE L 150 TDI 4x4 at the beginning of last year. It had only done just over 30K miles and I suspect was on its original tyres which were a matched set of Michelin Pilot Primacy. I looked at several others in main dealers before that and none of them were on All Seasons. Mine is now on Michelin CrossClimates.

We've been on Gen 5 Haldex since 2016. 'Haldex Generation V uses an electronic control design that can proactively engage the clutch before any actual slip occurs. It monitors steering angle, throttle position, engine torque, engine RPM, individual wheel speeds, vehicle yaw and other sensors. These feed the anti-lock brake system (ABS), anti-slip regulation (ASR, a.k.a. traction control), Cross Differential Lock (XDS: an advanced descendent of VW/Audi's Electronic Differential Lock, EDL), the Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) as well as the Haldex working together in the integrated 4Motion system. These data combined with those systems act in concert to vector torque to the wheels in proportion to where the driver is directing travel.' From here.....https://www.wolfeden.org/cars/golf-r/haldex.html
  13. My 2016 Yeti doesn't, nor does our 2019 Karoq. On the occasions when I want to know if the headlights are on rather than just the DRLs, I'll do a quick flick onto main beam to see if the blue light comes on.
  14. Škoda dealerships sell insulated mugs that fit. We got one thrown in with the Karoq and it also fits my Yeti so I suspect the cup holders in a Superb are the same size. HTH

No I've never done any of the UKGSer gatherings. I mostly ride a bike to get away from other people. I've never been to Spain on the bike either, although I have driven in France and Spain a fair bit. In fact, the only country I've ridden in, apart from Britain and Northern Ireland is the USA where I've done a fair few miles over the years.

No, I never had one of those wheezy old things. At that point, I think I was on my first GS which was an '04 1200 in blue from John Clark's. ST54 LVZ, I think. I remember Nik (Boz) and I meeting up at Kinross Services where I discovered I'd left my wallet at home and he bought me a tank of petrol. Is that where you and Dutchman joined us....can't remember? This is a pic from 2003 of me in the maroon shirt and Abdul who was the waiter in Khushi's Restaurant in Drummond St in Edinburgh. I know it was 2003 because it was my 50'th birthday bash.

Aye, I remember it well. How many years is it since you, Boz, Dutchman and I did a tour of Fife one New Year's Day? Hope yer weel....

I recognise that user name. Ex UKGSer......?

Hi, I guess you're in Dalgety Bay and the main dealer in question is West End Garage. I'm a bit suprised they can't find your rattle as I've always found them to be pretty good. However, if you're stuck, we do have a very good independent VAG specialist in Fife, Star Performance. https://www.starperformance.co.uk I've been going to Star for service and mods for getting on for 20 years. In fact my Yeti is going there next week for a cambelt change.
  20. Posted 24 February, 2020 Just in case anyone experiences the same and looks at this thread..... this condition is caused by having a flat(ish) or way under inflated tyre on the car. my mk6 Golf gtd does exactly this. it isn’t fitted with one of the new flat tyre monitors but if it were it would trigger that too. i drive high motorway mileage each week (1400 miles) and if I get lazy and don’t check tyre pressures each week this kick down on cruise (particularly when on flat or going down hill) is how I know to get pump out. 😀
  21. I doubt it very much. Did you see my comment above about unintended acceleration being the origin of the issue? Perhaps Škoda hadn't got round to it, for some reason, when your car was built some 18 years ago. However, every VAG car that we've owned since 2000, i.e, 1 Mk4 Golf GT TDI, 1 Fabia vRS, 1 Mk5 Golf GT Sport TDI, 3 VW Tiguans and 1 Karoq 190 TDI has cut the throttle when the brake was applied.
  22. How much power and torque is your car now making? I've done upgrades to 312 mm front discs on both my Mk4 Golf GT TDI, many years ago and much more recently to my remapped 2106 Yeti 150 TDI. The Yeti was upgraded by fitting Mk5 /6 Golf GTI caliper carriers and 312 mm drilled and vented discs. If you want more retardation, it's possible to fit Porsche 4 pot calipers onto 312 mm discs. To do that you'd need something like this kit plus the front calipers from Porsche 986, i.e. first generation Boxster. https://www.darksidedevelopments.co.uk/products/darkside-mk4-platform-312mm-brake-upgrade-fitting-kit-for-porsche-986-4-pot-front-calipers.html The Porsche calipers would offer the biggest upgrade. They would increase retardation ability as well as feel and the ability to modulate brake application much more. With these brakes, I think there would be no need to go to bigger discs with the penalty of increased unsprung weight.
  23. The quick and dirty way is to disconnect the brake light switch but you might not be too popular out on the track. If you want to know the original reason for it, search 'Audi unintended acceleration'.
  24. The flaps stick and break up and bits can get sucked into the cylinders. Mine, in my '08 Golf, were comprehensively knackered at 70k miles. Also the bushes for the spindle in the ends of the plastic manifold wear and you get boost leaks from there. Fitting the BKD manifold made my remapped car smoother, more progressive and a lot more economical. If I kept it under 100 on long runs across country it would average 50 mpg.
