Appreciate its a bit of a distance but it might be worth you speaking to the guys at https://eastyorkshireretrofits.co.uk/ or https://www.vw-retrofit.co.uk I know both have done installations with customer supplied parts. I can't say for certain, but you might find you need to code the new unit once its installed.

You probably know anyway but in the hope it might help. Do you have the heated windscreen icon in the clima screen? They don’t use wires in the screen anymore. Confused me when I changed from my 67 plate to the MK4. In the right light my screen has a bronze tinge that is the give away.

@TheWanderer I asked my dealer a similar question and they said they referred it to Skoda UK as they weren't sure what the situation was for those who's cars didn't come with one. I'll update here when I hear, but I would be interested to hear what others folks find out.

I checked mine too and no recall, 6 months old and was supplied without one so I guess that is why. I had hoped Skoda would install covers on the ones that came without but not holding out too much hope.

I had damage to my paint work following a dealer visit and they kept denying they had done it. I contacted their MD and Skoda UK along with leaving truthful but accurate reviews on the web. They wouldn't admit liablity and said it was goodwill but they paid to sort it. Don't give up!

Literally 5 mins if that. Once on the ramp they lift the gaiter and pull it out.

When I had my first MK4 the dealer had not removed the shipping blocks from the front suspension under the rubber gaiters. When I went over a pothole one of them broke and that made a sound similar to what you describe. Dealer removed them from both sides and all was good. I appreciate its a long shot since you covered 35K kms but maybe worth checking.

From memory its tucked away under Settings... Language ... I think its the last option.

Hi all I found a yellow cap under the bonnet of my 2023 petrol VRS. It's about an inch long and 1/2 inch across. I can't see anywhere obvious its come from, and didn't notice last time I cleaned the car or topped up the washer water. Any thoughts? Cheers

I was a little worried about warranty so as my dealership is a few minutes from my house I decided to call and ask for the update. Assuming all goes to plan there agreed to install it after I quoted the TPI number. Only thing they mentioned was that the TPI was now /11. Not sure if that helps anybody.

Car was in yesterday having the update and although I haven't done any real driving or testing, initial signs are good. Screen response is much quicker imo, lights now set to drive on left and can be changed without having to first select the already selected option. I'll test the cruise control at the weekend. At the same time they did the boot damping recall, sounded fine on the way home but I never really had that issue as I greased the wedges when I first got the car. Car was in for a day but only worked on for a few hours according to dashcam footage. For reference I requested the update, dealer did not contact me to say it was available. I had cases open with VWFS and Skoda Customer Services but no contact from them either so thanks to all on this forum.

AFAIK they lost access to be able to unlock SFD!

I just wanted to add an update to this. In my case, I'm not saying it will happen to anybody else, since the last dealer visit for numerous s/w issues and a subsequent s/w update - I've lost the use of the retrofitted camera completely!! I believe, although it is practically impossible to get the full story, all s/w on the car was removed/reloaded hence why I lost the retrofit coding as its gone to factory default. It's a real pain b/c the servicing dealer won't acknowledge an issue and the installer appears to be having issues unlocking for recoding. I'm being compensated by the supplying dealer but a pain none the less after getting used to having it.

I have a camera on my 21 Octavia VRS that was retrofitted because the dealer messed up my factory order. Cutting a long story short the camera was fine until my local dealership updated the camera s/w and subsequently I lost the contrast settings although the camera still works. Although I'm sure the company that fitted the camera could re-instate the contrast settings I'm taking a different route with the dealership due to all the other s/w issues so decided not to persue that. Vagtec fitted he camera so might be worth calling them to see if they have a permanent fix.

How did you get on? I'm in a similar situation and have been told by the dealership pretty much the same, although I have a case open with Skoda UK too.

I've been into the dealer and had 6 hours worth of updates but none of the versions changed in the system screen. Service guy was pleasant and said they didn't change any h/w but that might be needed. A week later all the issues started again and my local dealer says (different guy) we need to look again to see what faults has been logged - next available appointment 5 weeks away. Also said that if nothing has been logged and a fault isn't seen in the workshop we'll report no fault found. Seriously! I started a case with Skoda Customer Care (or don't care) and clearly they are well aware of the issues but no admission - standard reply. So frustrating, got to wait 5 weeks for what I reckon will be the standard couldn't find anything. I'm going to start taking pictures as I think this is the only way to get proof.
