Key fob remote broken, now fixed
Thanks, Very possible. Managed to avoid the open windows mystery although the open bootlid poltergeist was common when I first got the car. Maybe trouser fashion has chnaged over the last 8 years-or too many pies! Just praying it's not some module sowmwhere playing up.

Key fob remote broken, now fixed
More for future searchers than current answers. Non Kessy. One key fib stopped working one morning. Transponder part still ok, started car no problems. New battery, no joy. Tried other fob, worked fine. Swapped batteries still worked fine. Diagnosis = dead remote part fo the key fob. 10 years old- fair enough. Found a local locksmith who was cheaper than desler but ended up not changing the fob as he was ill/ unreliable. 2 weeks later.(tonight) leave work. Unlock OK, get to the shop for emergency rations and no locking. Aaggghh. At home still no action at all so popped the door handle lock cover to manually lock car. And after a couple of cycles the fob is then working OK again. Went to get "broken" fob, used it to manually lock unlock arm and disarm alarm and it too now works properly from it's buttons So, I have a short term fix, but why is the car forgetting that the fob should unlock it.?

Thoughts on Superb 4x4 280
Id echo everything said so far. Some common issues, water pump, DSG selector and creaking bushes, but for the price,/ space/ size its great. It can waft or be silly. And with the 4x4 that gap on the roundabout can be yours in all weathers. It is big and even indy servicing adds up (but same on all cars with the bits) it's not a sports car, and likes a drink around town. 8 mile commute in Birmingham is between 24 and 28 mpg. Depends on how many times I have to stop. On an A road drive high 30's , French motorways loaded up low 30's. But at 16 miles a day I'm not bothered.

Inside Canton Amplifier
But a phase inverted signal looks the same as the original signal after a delay of half a cycle. Ie its the timing of the signal that matters otherwise you could end up with twice the noise. (If the signals are in phase) Lotus played with active noise cancelling back in the late 80's for the road cars. Never made it to production.

TMC not working
Worked a dream on 2016 model using OBDeleven. 15 changed to 14, reset and have traffic alerts.

The Superb III Picture thread
Got a petrol blue 2016 model here too. a real change from the sea of greys.

What's your odometer at..?
a real range here. and reassuring to see some high miles. around 80k for me on a 2016 280. bought at 2 yrs old with 40k, so I've reduced the yearly down to average ish.

The 280PS Thread
2016 280, water pump/ thermostat here too, gear stick dont leave in P in park or similar due to faulty microswitch.m, also a relativley common failure. but its a great Q car, you WILL get up to speed before joining the motorway and damp weather will not stop you getting that gap on a busy roundabout or uphill away from the lights ( should you feel the need) oh , squeaky anti roll bar bushes are standard.

Throttle Response Change Using VCDS
I did both. 2016 standard 280 with dcc, no errors. It feels better but could be placebo effect.

Gandalf's Evolution
Can I ask who / where you did it and cost of new module? Do you feel any difference between new normal the old normal with the new parameters? Ie is this worth more than a slider? Regards.

Do yourself maintenance of haldex gen5
I'm so glad you had a very clean car to post, a bit like having clean underpants incase you get hit by a bus. Also a reminder to wash mine after our snow and ice (and salt and grit) (also a Petrol blue estate) This thread should be tagged 'suspense'. Hope it's not damaged.

Tall drivers in the Superb
Also another tall one here, is the rear of the seat at its lowest, ie on max sloping backwards. I do find the mirror us in my sightlins at junctions, but nothing new.

Coolant loss mystery
"No external leaks" as ApertureS says are you sure. Or just no signs on the ground? mine (also 280) was leaking from waterpump/ thermostat housing area, but always evaporated before getting round the engine cover to the driveway. I could see "wet" peering down the front of the engine sometimes though.

Maybe in the market for a 4x4 estate – but are there any pitfalls?
I'd possibly add the 'Don't leave gear selector in park' or similar, faulty microswitch, 700 to fix, some goodwill from skids if recently out of warranty. Plus sqeaky/groans from suspension bushes (no damage but sounds awful). Had all but the DCC misting but still love it. Re 4x4, see it as skodas 'quatro' useful in snow but a game changer for spirited acceleration in the wet. Never worry about axle tramp again.

Air quality sensor replacement
Hi I, can see you are also in Brum, I used midland VW in Norton Caine's recently if you are in the north of the region. fWIW, my air quality sensor also throws an error, but the air con is pushing out cold air even in the heatwave. There's a few air con specialists in Brum as well who may be better at fault finding/ tracing
