  1. If I have understood your posting you want your battery to start and it wont? 🤣 Being serious now have you replaced the airbag control module or sent it away to have the crash data removed? What was the extent of the crash damage, not many vehicles would restart after a head on impact sufficient to deploy the airbags mine did but there was practically zero body damage. Your next step should be a VCDS scan.
  2. Have you used the tool on another vehicle before, do you know how to use it? If so then please describe the difficulty that you are encountering, describe what you mean by the piston won't move. I am not being obtuse, there is a reason for asking.
  3. The worst possible scenario, worse even than Doomsday. - A drop in the manufacturers share price!
  4. They are for the self destruct function (don't ask me how I know ) and as a warning to people like myself to stop flashing wire pairs with 12 volt and to move into this century by reading up to understand the distributed intelligence in modern vehicle Canbus wiring systems. Although Pete may well teach me that the Yeti rear wiper motor is not a Canbus node.
  5. The two "signals" are a twisted pair so are they not Canbus? Linbus perhaps? On the Octavia I thought it was a canbus node, in fact I seem to recall it having the terminating resistor for the network or maybe it was nearby?
  6. Fractured cable in the doorloop bellows, otherwise failure of the canbus module contained within the wiper, this would be revealed by a VCDS scan, quite possibly the former as well but a MK1 eyeball is best.
  7. German Ebay sellers are in my experience excellent to deal with and don't sell rubbish.
  8. Might be cheaper on Ali for the 4 rubbers, Amazon would charge me delivery to France. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000437487419.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.fb2938dauRL86k&mp=1
  9. I have looked at the Amazon ones but on AliExpress, they are intended for use on Tesla, I'm not sure that they would fit on a VAG model. Clearly like me you intend using the factory production line carriage points as jacking points, they are very thick metal and I don't think you should be concenrned about scratching, the correct pad which I believe is for the Audi TT would ensure a better location for the jack pad and my interest in them is that they would be way more visible to me and I would not have to get under the car to locate the jack correctly. I have held off buying the Tesla pads in case they dont fit or would drop out, I require them to remain in place permanently. If you try them and they work out please report back.
  10. Given the tooling cost to make an exact copy of the original you can see that the first is a fake, the second one may have actually come from the original moulds, when you have stuff made in China that can happen a lot, the circuit board inside is another think, likely to be a cheap clone but once again it could actually have come off the same production line or be rejects being recycled. Critically though its the lack of a serial number, Rosstech control the issue of these and that is how they are renumerated, without a genuine serial number and genuine dongle you are not going to be able to register the device and obtain support from Rosstech and having the security of knowing that what you will be plugging into your vehicle is the real deal and not going to cause mayhem with the vehicles control modules. Very interesting to see the photos, I like the way you slipped the genuine one in without giving the game away. Good luck with finding a genuine one.
  11. Yes, it will put back in what was taken out when starting in a matter of seconds regardless of battery size.
  12. A bag of cocaine if I'm not mistaken! Someone has waited a long time for that 🤣 Those tiny wheels just straddling the pit has given me the Heeby-Geebies!
  13. If you have cruise control it may need re-enabling on the new ECU, this can be done with VCDS. Your speedometer will continue to show your vehicles mileage but if anyone uses the check function in VCDS it will show the mileage (kilometrage actually) and operating hours of the donor vehicle which could be higher or lower. Other than that it is plug and play. I didn't need to plug in my old one but it would have worked as before. Good luck with the theft of the new vehicle 🤣
  14. The panel will be available from TPS. Looks like you need to make friends there as you will be needing a lot.
  15. They make more sense than where it has been translated. What do you think "Instrument celebration" would be? Sorry I cant answer your first question.
  16. I'm perfectly calm thanks, you have quoted only part of my post, I started by saying that I would weld it but..................... and I also agreed it would be uneconomical to repair.
  17. I would weld it because I am tight and my time has no value. However the whole beam is very corroded and the eaten away lug is very concerning, at the very least that bracket will need refabrication, that and the necessary reinforcing gussets for the crack repairs make it uneconomical paying someone for a welded repair. My big concern is that it is a torsion beam axle and as such will already be considerably weakened, welding will create additional stresses, the next crack which has probably already started will end up being a catastrophic failure. For that reason alone I would definitely not weld it were the car to be involved in a fatal accident caused by failure of the beam then my actions would be seen as criminal negligence. I bet if it was shotblasted and dye penetrant crack tested you would get a real shock.
  18. A casting delivered to the machine shop that was not rusted would be rejected, "weathering" - leaving outside to corrode is an essential part of the casting process for stress relieving. If not done then the casting can warp when machined.
  19. It is the latter that is inappropriate for a 4 year old car! I cannot see how they can say that is OK for its age 🤣
  20. It will be for stashing whatever your choice of illicit stuff will be! I saw the cover plate on mine & think I removed it to find............. well nothing 🙄 Its a lost volume which could be useable, I would be interested in the price of the tray and whether the original blanking plate would cover it.
  21. My dog found that going down a carpeted staircase gave him an extra edge. Bloomin funny to watch as well!
  22. That is the same effect as when the hoses degrade and partially collapse from turbo heat when under heavy load. That one on my 98 diesel Alhambra took a very very long time to track down, I knew it was heat related from when it happened (towing uphill on autoroutes etc) but finding the culprit was not easy. Well done to you, another example where a garage would likely end up taking a customer for a fortune and never resolve the problem.
  23. Aftermarket discs are dirt cheap they will certainly be a fraction of the cost of skimming even on the vehicle, if you are having to pay labour for the discs to be fitted then that will alter the economics. I like you will only replace discs when they really need be and I also have a lathe so can skim them but for the price I have paid for the last 3 or 4 sets, barely more than a tenner a disc I dont need the grief and can weigh in the old ones, they command a higher price then general steel scrap.
  24. If I were in your fortunate situation I would be doing exactly the same and avoiding any contact with VAG, I completely get it! In fact I am now in the same situation but it cost me £250 or maybe even £300 I cant recall, having the company that did the remap roll back the emissions fix, it would have been done for free had I been able to get to them for the remap rather than having it done by an agent but it was during covid and the stars were not aligned. I was just happy that when I did eventually get to Cornwall, sadly for my stepmothers funeral that they were able to do it for me with no notice, frankly it was worth every penny, dont ever allow yours to be updated! My now ex UK neighbour was like you, I did some minor VCDS coding for him which it turns out he could have done from the maxidot menu, I slipped in the needle sweep function to freak him out (he is Mr Nervous) and then to wind him up I said I had downloaded tha latest ECU software for him because he had a very early version, I caught him hook line and sinker!
