  1. If it was a nut like in the picture below, it might have used a 36mm socket. But the Octavia MK2 uses a bolt...hence a 24mm bi-hex socket is required.
  2. Is it a Fabia MK1 or MK2? If you don't know, see this wikipedia entry on the Fabia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Škoda_Fabia#Engines_2
  3. OEM part number WHT002795 15 WHT 002 795 dodecagonal head bolt M16X1,5X70 2 https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2007-419/4/407-407000/#15 M16x1.5x70 Bolt https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/wht002795 This bolt needs a bi-hex 24mm socket.
  4. You can fit a 225/40R18 tyre to a rim width of between 7.5" and 9". However, Skoda normally fit a 225/40R18 tyre to the minimum 7.5" rim width. Fitting a 225/40R18 to a 9J rim will make the sidewalls very stretched which will leave the rims very exposed to kerbing damage and give a very hard ride. Because the sidewalls would be so stretched, the 225mm nominal width tyre will be closer to an actual width of 245mm. Being so wide, this could cause rubbing. As the 225/40 has very low sidewalls, the rims will be prone to getting damaged by potholes. 205/50R17 or 225/45R17 would give more comfort and protect the rims better than 225/40R18 tyres. 18" rims will make the 312mm diameter front brake discs on the VRS look small. 225/40R18 can be fitted to a rim width of 7.5-8-9.0 https://www.toyo.co.uk/tirefinder/index/width/225/aspect/40/rim/18 205/55R16 on perhaps 6.5Jx16 ET42 5/100 57.1 rims would be a lot more sensible and give a much better ride, far less prone to pothole damage, less drag, cheaper tyres, less prone to kerbing damage, and less tyre noise. Using standard tyre and rim sizes will also keep your insurance company happy. If you have a centre bore bigger than 57.1mm you would need to use spigot rings so that the rims are centred on the hubs. Not using them would cause wheel vibration as the rims wouldn't be centred.
  5. As you can see in the chart below, the Octavia MK2 came with either 6Jx15 ET47 or 6.5Jx16 ET50 steel rims. The 6Jx15 ET47 uses 195/65R15 tyres, and the 6.5Jx16 ET50 uses 205/55R16 tyres. 7. The Fabia MK1 1.9TDI 100HP car has standard ride height suspension. The Fabia MK1 1.9TDI 130HP car has lowered/sports suspension. By using the front springs from the 100HP standard ride height car and the rear springs from the lowered/sports suspension 130HP car, the car may end up looking like a speedboat, ie. the front end will look high compared to the rear end.

  9. Skoda dealers can't help you modify your car. All they can do is recommend what Skoda has approved. Slightly oversize tyres such as 225/55R17 fitted to standard 7Jx17 ET40 rims and 245/45R18 fitted to 8Jx18 ET44 rims will be fine. Many Superb MK3 owners are already using these sizes without problems.
  10. Over 60,000 miles or 100,000 kilometers and you are doing well. Less than 30,000 miles or 50,000 kilometers and you are not doing well. A lot depends on your driving style. Good drivers who plan well ahead, drive in an economical fashion, and maximise their use of engine braking to slow down, will have brakes that last a long time. It helps to have a diesel engine, because diesel engines produce more engine braking than petrol engines.
  11. I purchased four new Pirelli tyres many years ago. The beads split on all four tyres when fitting and removing them from the rims. Pirelli didn't want to know.
  12. 235/45R18 doesn't fit the ID.3...but 18" rims from the ID.3 do fit the Superb MK3. However, the ID.3's ET50 offset does move the centre of the tyre 6mm inwards compared to the Superb MK3's 8Jx18 ET44, or 4mm inwards compared to the Superb MK3's 7Jx18 ET46. The below alloy rim is almost three times the price of the steel 7.5x18 ET50 ID.3 steel rim...although many will look for cheaper secondhand options. Superb MK3 7.5Jx18 ET46 Alloy Rim https://eshop.skoda-auto.cz/cs_CZ/kolo-z-lehke-slitiny-trinity-18-pro-superb-ii-octavia-iii/p/3T0071498J+8Z8 It's nice to see a non-directional tread pattern on the Nokian WR A4. Most winter tyres these days seem to have a directional tread pattern.
  13. 14. I doubt you would even get a reply from Pirelli. They are Italian after all, so expect the usual non-existent customer service. Pirelli have a long history of selling shoddy tyres, so are best avoided.
  15. Some of the build codes are on the white sticker/label in the boot. Most are not. There might be around 180 build codes that are associated with your car's VIN number. Skoda would have known what all your car's build codes were going to be, even before it went down the production line to be assembled. However, now you know all the possible variations...it should be a simple job to measure the outside diameters of the brake discs to find out what you have. Possible front brake disc diameters for the Superb MK2 288mm, 312mm, 340mm, 345mm Possible rear brake disc diameters for the Superb MK2 260mm, 272mm 286mm, 310mm It's unlikely you will have the 340mm or 345mm diameter front brake discs, or the 310mm diameter rear brake discs...unless you have one of the most powerful cars.
  16. It depends on the build codes. For the Superb MK2, the build codes for the brakes are as follows: 1ZE 288mm front discs 1LJ or 1ZA 312mm front discs 1LA 340mm front discs 1LK 345mm front discs 1KF 260mm rear discs 1KS 272mm rear discs 1kJ 286mm rear discs 2EA 310mm rear discs https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/superb/sup/2013-632/6/

  18. mytyres are listing 7.5Jx18 ET50 steel rims from the VW ID.3 that might be ideal for winter tyres. 19. It's a new engine, so the piston rings and cylinder bore are still bedding in. Just top up with quality engine oil to the maximum mark. Be careful not to go over the maximum mark...or at least not by more than a couple of millimetres. You will probably go more than 5300 miles before you need to top up again.
  20. I use one of these for my AGM battery. It's really simple to use, plus Bosch is a good make. In the UK you do need a Euro mains plug adaptor if you get the German version. Bosch C1 Battery Charger https://www.amazon.de/-/en/189-999-01M-battery-charger/dp/B00RP3DEW6/ref=sr_1_1?crid=TYL3MHAGUSON&keywords=bosch+c1&qid=1646504361&sprefix=bosch+c1%2Caps%2C76&sr=8-1 The 3.5Amps charge rate is ideal for almost any car battery. I certainly wouldn't want to charge a 12V 60Ah car battery at more than 4Amps. Gentle charge rates means that the battery lasts longer.

Good point about collection only, as clearly it would only suit someone local. However, it wouldn't be too difficult to wrap them in cardboard (perhaps old cornflakes packets) and post them economically by myHermes. About £5.80 up to 5kg for shipping by myHermes https://www.myhermes.co.uk/send-a-parcel#/ Then you could maybe charge £80 including postage, and still get a quick sale...perhaps on ebay. I would state clearly than these are 55mm struts and not the smaller 50mm struts...as that's an easy mistake for many folks to make. People would probably be searching for new "Bilstein 22-131614" and the cheapest price on ebay. Most sellers on ebay are asking over £120 for two.

That may be a manufacturer's code of some sort, but it doesn't look like an OEM part number.
