What bulbs are fitted to the S3 & upgraded bulb recommendations
Ah, was hoping to get away with just one side but not a massive issue. Getting rid of my OE bulbs replacing with the new Osram CBN that’s not long been out. My head is saying get the Osram NBL but heart wants the “led look”

What bulbs are fitted to the S3 & upgraded bulb recommendations
Does the wheel arch liner need to be removed both sides or just the passenger (uk)?

Min temperature for air con to operate
Funny you say that as I do think my xenons are rubbish. The screen from inside looks good but I do need to the inside of the glass. I’ve got some isopropyl alcohol somewhere for a good clean

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Shouldn’t the axle stand go on those rubbers and trolley jack from the sills? The official lifting points is from the sills from what I’ve seen

Min temperature for air con to operate
Mine doesn’t fog up whilst driving, only when it’s been unused all day, gets a bit of warmth from the winter sun then cold evenings

Min temperature for air con to operate
Ah I must admit I’ve never heard the clutch engage or even hear a different tone with ice cold air in the summer. On the VW site it mentions it doesn’t work below 0oC, couldn’t see anything on the Skoda site. I guess it just had too much condensation to do anything, where my car is it’s in the sun all day then with these silly cold temperatures it fogs up, probably doesn’t help I’ve not cleaned the inside of the windscreen since I bought it 4 years ago, and usually only use it on the weekends 😬

Min temperature for air con to operate
Got in my car today front windscreen had condensation on, started the car had aircon on waited and waited and waited, didn’t even touch it. So I had to resort to my trusty sleeve as I got annoyed. Whilst driving I remembered my old Passat the aircon didn’t work at temperatures less than 5oC or something like that, is that the same as the Superb? Outside read 3oC, when I arrived at my location I asked my wife to stand by the engine and listen for a click (usual aircon engaging sound) couldn’t hear a thing. I also didn’t notice the revs changing. So either it doesn’t operate at low temperatures like my old Passat or my aircon has randomly decided to die

Fixed price work PDF + DSG 6 speed question
Ah cool thanks, as long as I’m not going blind I’m happy. I don’t have a 4x4 so don’t need to worry about the haldex

Fixed price work PDF + DSG 6 speed question
I can’t see the link to the fixed price on there website at all, I’m sure it was somewhere on that link you posted few months back. Do you know if the DSG price includes changing the filter (if there is one)

Fixed price work PDF + DSG 6 speed question
I’ve tried looking on the Skoda website for the fixed price pdf for maintenance. Can anyone link to a UK one for this year or has it been removed? It’s the one which had year 1,2,3 etc Also 2016 190hp tdi DSG 6 speed, I assume this is the gearbox which requires oil change at 40k miles, my cars done around 38k so getting near. I guess the fixed price is to change filter as well as oil? thanks

Alloy wheels - swapping OEM wheels
If you’re going to buy new Skoda wheels buy from the accessory list and not normal part number. Same wheel but soooo much cheaper on the accessory list

parking in a box/garage?
Length is rarely an issue, it’s the width for garages especially UK ones. Before you sign I’d go to a dealer, sit inside then open the door how far you need, then measure the overall width. If it’s fine, then you can do what my wife’s grandad did, which was put the car in the garage with help the first time, then from the ceiling have some rope hang down with a rubber duck on the end and position it so it touches the windscreen. Simply way to be double sure

Passat headrests on a Superb?
Unfortunately not, I’m somewhat keeping an eye on vw’s at a local breakers yard near me. Only problem is the pictures aren’t that clear inside so can’t tell

New 19” tyres required, which ones
Ah good shout on insurance, I’ll stick with 235 but it’s between Goodyear asymmetric 5’s and PS4 hmm. It’s annoying as I need all 4 so hardly cheap decision to make
-
New 19” tyres required, which ones
Thanks for all the replies. just to clarify I’ve got the 19” Sirius alloys standard is 235/40/19 can I put on 245/40/19” with zero problems? The price for 235 compared to 245 is crazy, more tyre with 245 yet about £45 cheaper per tyre

New 19” tyres required, which ones
I’ve got the choice of either in UK One more question regarding both, does it come with good rim protection? The P7’s have saved me a few times with roads which have horrible kerbs. Google searches the PS4/S is coming up as inconclusive hmm

New 19” tyres required, which ones
From my memory there’s PS4 and PS4S. Is there a particular one you’d recommend
-
New 19” tyres required, which ones
My P7’s starting to have more cracks on the tread now. As I need all 4 at once I’m expecting a big bill so I really want excellent replacements. I don’t want a jack of all trades master at none all season tyres as sometime next year I’ll be buying a winter set. I’m not too fussed if I go back to P7’s as they’ve done many miles but I have noticed I’m getting wheel spin in 3rd when it rains a bit but I do only have 3mm left and tyres almost 6 years old. For some reason I prefer the better known brands. Any recommendations?

Rear brake disc and pad question
Brembo discs and genuine pads on, now I have good braking all round I’ve noticed the car doesn’t pitch forward and feels so much more stable. Yesterday when I picked it up I did have some black marking, but I literally drove 3 miles home, which I was somewhat concerned at So today I went on a longer random jolly, so I put it in eco (DSG) and ACC, seem pretty perfect now, so no idea what the black stuff was From seeing other brembo discs the coating should last many years instead of rusting up on the hub

New alloy wheels, need your help.
1st one looks good, the others look terrible imo.

Boot release from inside car - how?
Can’t see why there would be a button to operate a manual boot like you have, sounds like a printing mistake

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Car at the dealers having rear disc and pads changed, so I asked for a longish test drive in an enyaq which I’ve got at home now. Biggest complaint is this stupid design flaw. The dash is far too low so my knee keeps hitting it. If it was a little bit higher it would be great as I won’t be attacked and I can open my legs more. I tried putting my feet just to the left of the brake pedal which was more comfortable but then left foot is almost under the brake pedal

Car Iced up, now where’s that ice scraper……
Tbh I use luke warm water and is fine in seconds

Continuation. The legacy file part 1
I would take them to a small claims court for everything you’ve paid for so far plus any additional work. Keep all your receipts for the case, I very much doubt they’ll turn up. Look forward to seeing your case on Can’t Pay We’ll Take It Away

Rear brake disc and pad question
So I’ve gone for Brembo discs (08.C501.11 made in Italy) and genuine pads. The more I read about pads from other manufacturers the more I got put off from various posts here and elsewhere. I would have gone ATE rear pads but ECP don’t sell them (they sell fronts) for some reason nor does many other places where I can pick up locally. My local dealer will be fitting my supplied discs and genuine pads on Thursday as I really needed it done this end of the year. Whilst they’re fitting them I’m doing a long test drive in an enyaq. Last time I done one of these longer test drives I went home and picked the dog up for a spin in a Karoq which he and I gave a “Nul Points”, so I’m intrigued on his thoughts on the enyaq.
