New 19” tyres required, which ones
I’m in UK yeah, as the tyres are different spec to OE it’s an easy get out clause for insurance should anything happen. I could ring them and they’ll probably be fine but will be hard to explain it them if they don’t know what I’m on about, like I’ve had in the past ”These tyres are approved for Volvos, hard luck try it again”

New 19” tyres required, which ones
That’s mine as of today, hoping they’ll last until April and pass MOT (some tyre gel and they’ll never know)😬

Homologated to Volvo, be a pain explaining to insurance

New 19” tyres required, which ones
Haha very true about what we drive. The problem is I only want Michelin or Goodyear tyres. I can’t get Michelin Primacy 4’s in my size unless it’s Volvo spec which is no good The Goodyear efficient grip (Primacy 4 equivalent) is impossible to get also.

New 19” tyres required, which ones
So a quick update. I'm going to keep my crappy tyres on for now and hopefully it'll pass MOT, I've looked and cracking on the tread does not mean a fail which is good, different if it's on the side face from what I can tell. The reason i'm waiting is because I've heard good things about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 5 except for the noise levels, now they have a new Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 I will go with that. Only problem is the Asymmetric 6 is not out yet in 235/40/19, so I just rang them and it'll become available in 235/40/19 4th April 2022, so will depend on when wholesalers get them but should be pretty quick. If my car fails MOT because of tyres in March then i'll have to get the Michelin PS5, but at the moment holding out for Asymmetric 6's

Display speed limit
You’d think it could just get the speed limit for the road from the sat nav if you don’t have the camera instead but I don’t believe you can

Water Leak check
Part of the maintenance checks for the mk3 is clearing the scuttle panel area, but it’s not as easy as other VAG cars (Passat b5/b5.5) as you need to remove the wipers to get it off. So I’m living dangerously, I’m sure I read Skoda should do it as part of the servicing but I don’t think they do

New 19” tyres required, which ones
Hmm, just tried searching for Goodyear Efficient grips on black circles, my tyres, camskill can’t find them. This 235/40/19 size is very annoying and needlessly expensive compared to 245, but I can’t be bothered with the insurance hassle either grr

New 19” tyres required, which ones
I think the primacy 4 is what I need, but can only find it for about £208 per tyre which is crazy, the “cheaper” primacy 4s I can see is for Volvos grr. Father in law has the eagle F1 assymetric 5’s on his A4 and have lasted ages but noisy whereas I want a quiet ish tyre. So I think it’s down to primacy 4 or new Michelin PS5, but I will checkout the Goodyear Efficient grip 2 so thanks for that

New 19” tyres required, which ones
Right I have to get new tyres this month and MOT booked at the end. I’ve heard the PS4’s only last around 12k miles? Not sure where I read it, probably an amateur drifting site I hope. Goodyear eagle F1 5 is noisier than the P7’s, is that true? I’ve seen the tyre label but that’s not quite real life reflection. Michelin primacy 4, not heard a great deal about this in truth, does it have good rim protection? There’s the new Michelin PS5, not seen anywhere in UK that has them yet and I suppose far too new for longetivty. What I’m after is a tyre which can last easily 25-30k, good rim protection for just in case moments, a tyre that can be good for occasional spirited driving, quiet inside and tyres which won’t crack due to lack of use (I hardly ever use my car) I know I don’t need much 😬, but out of these 4, what’s best for my needs? Michelin Primacy 4 Michelin PS4 Michelin PS5 Goodyear Eagle F1 5

Have you thought about getting it wrapped?

What have you done to your Superb III today?
I like different music to you, but give “Black Label Society - Lords of Destruction” a test, that’s my go to bass test song

What bulbs are fitted to the S3 & upgraded bulb recommendations
This is the video I saw, he has an octavia too so projector (now whole housing unit) probably very similar to the superb. I can see a big difference, there wasn’t a lot of difference between NBL and original CBI, but the new one is brighter and bluer, it’s still cool blue intense but labelled as CBN (CBI Next Gen) https://youtu.be/EKVgD2TYMUI

What bulbs are fitted to the S3 & upgraded bulb recommendations
Ah, was hoping to get away with just one side but not a massive issue. Getting rid of my OE bulbs replacing with the new Osram CBN that’s not long been out. My head is saying get the Osram NBL but heart wants the “led look”

Does the wheel arch liner need to be removed both sides or just the passenger (uk)?

Min temperature for air con to operate
Funny you say that as I do think my xenons are rubbish. The screen from inside looks good but I do need to the inside of the glass. I’ve got some isopropyl alcohol somewhere for a good clean

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Shouldn’t the axle stand go on those rubbers and trolley jack from the sills? The official lifting points is from the sills from what I’ve seen
-
Min temperature for air con to operate
Mine doesn’t fog up whilst driving, only when it’s been unused all day, gets a bit of warmth from the winter sun then cold evenings
-
Min temperature for air con to operate
Ah I must admit I’ve never heard the clutch engage or even hear a different tone with ice cold air in the summer. On the VW site it mentions it doesn’t work below 0oC, couldn’t see anything on the Skoda site. I guess it just had too much condensation to do anything, where my car is it’s in the sun all day then with these silly cold temperatures it fogs up, probably doesn’t help I’ve not cleaned the inside of the windscreen since I bought it 4 years ago, and usually only use it on the weekends 😬
-
Min temperature for air con to operate
Got in my car today front windscreen had condensation on, started the car had aircon on waited and waited and waited, didn’t even touch it. So I had to resort to my trusty sleeve as I got annoyed. Whilst driving I remembered my old Passat the aircon didn’t work at temperatures less than 5oC or something like that, is that the same as the Superb? Outside read 3oC, when I arrived at my location I asked my wife to stand by the engine and listen for a click (usual aircon engaging sound) couldn’t hear a thing. I also didn’t notice the revs changing. So either it doesn’t operate at low temperatures like my old Passat or my aircon has randomly decided to die

Fixed price work PDF + DSG 6 speed question
Ah cool thanks, as long as I’m not going blind I’m happy. I don’t have a 4x4 so don’t need to worry about the haldex

Fixed price work PDF + DSG 6 speed question
I can’t see the link to the fixed price on there website at all, I’m sure it was somewhere on that link you posted few months back. Do you know if the DSG price includes changing the filter (if there is one)

Fixed price work PDF + DSG 6 speed question
I’ve tried looking on the Skoda website for the fixed price pdf for maintenance. Can anyone link to a UK one for this year or has it been removed? It’s the one which had year 1,2,3 etc Also 2016 190hp tdi DSG 6 speed, I assume this is the gearbox which requires oil change at 40k miles, my cars done around 38k so getting near. I guess the fixed price is to change filter as well as oil? thanks

Alloy wheels - swapping OEM wheels
If you’re going to buy new Skoda wheels buy from the accessory list and not normal part number. Same wheel but soooo much cheaper on the accessory list

parking in a box/garage?
Length is rarely an issue, it’s the width for garages especially UK ones. Before you sign I’d go to a dealer, sit inside then open the door how far you need, then measure the overall width. If it’s fine, then you can do what my wife’s grandad did, which was put the car in the garage with help the first time, then from the ceiling have some rope hang down with a rubber duck on the end and position it so it touches the windscreen. Simply way to be double sure
