  1. I think this was cut out of later cars because of typical VAG cost-cutting. See also UK Elegance models losing the option of rear electric windows after MY03 IIRC.
  2. Disconnect the battery? Fit CCTV near the cars?
  3. Would be better than dropping my brother off in a Fabia, mind you. I'd look pretty cool, or at least I like to think I would. However, I think through the threat of me purchasing a bronze one was enough to convince him to behave.
  4. Thought so. I kept closely inspecting Fabias I found in the Tesco car park to see if they were doing the same thing or beginning to do it. 9/10 are.
  5. The rear window is pretty irritating on mine anyway, it's got a scratch that car headlights just love to refract and blind me on. My windscreen was doing the same thing, wasn't usable on sunny days or at night for the scratches anyway. Was almost glad that it cracked... just was at an inconvenient time back then.
  6. Has been like that since I bought it. Am I right in thinking this is a common 'Fabiaism'? If it falls out, it falls out.
  7. You should have seen it this morning. It's been washed and the headlamps and windows polished using Asda's finest glass and plastic cleaner. Here's some befores... I'm still finding bits I've missed, but it's looking not bad. The exterior hadn't been done since the start of May and had clocked up about 2k miles in that time. Next job is to do the interior as it hasn't been done in nearly a year... and with a Spaniel it shows.
  8. I could post it and cover tracked postage and return costs... if you didn't mind doing it.
  9. Last time I did it I fubar-ed not just my cheap Technics RS-B205 but a very expensive Pioneer CT-757... which I still haven't got the money to replace! It's not been my week for trying to fix things either, see the 'annoyed' thread for today's escapades... I used an O-ring from a Cavalier oil filter to repair a Thorn VCR. Thorn still works, Cavalier is a cube now.
  10. As the title asks. I've got a delightful Technics RS-TR474 Mark II that I use for making up cassettes in the car. However, it definitely is showing signs of needing new belts now. My skills when it comes to changing belts on cassette decks are beyond terrible. At least I can do the pinch rollers myself. Anyway, has anyone got suggestions of places that can do this for mucho cheapness, or could someone here be willing to volunteer some time in exchange for some beer tokens etc?
  11. Likewise, but with petrol. However, to the OP: dae whit ye like really, none of us can stop you. But aye, don't drive for the sheer hell of it, IMO.
  12. Woah-oh living on a prayer...
  13. Got my photos back from the day that the car had a fit when I was travelling to Largs. Turned out alright though. And then some from Dunaskin... Some more on my Flickr account too. Just done with my scanner after being shot on Kodak ProImage 100 ('coz it's cheap, innit) with my Canon EOS1000F.
  14. Hello and welcome to Briskoda... going by that username, you don't happen to be Shane Ritchie, do you?
  15. Now that is a Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag.
  16. Can't read that with a straight face...
  17. 5w/40 is what I put in the car (1.2 BME, on 63k miles). It just works, was 10w/40 Mobil stuff before and no nuns exploded nor did any kittens get massacred. Quantum stuff is what I used at the service there, but I don't think the make is important really, as long as it works then that's what matters. Both times these oils were cheap enough. If you want to play it safe, 5w/40 or 10w/40, IMO/IME.
  18. It is. I'm waiting for it to be really sunny so I can do the car inside and out. Could be waiting a while for sun in Scotland.
  19. Probably entering my neck of the woods then.
  20. If you're near Ayr then Deutsche Tech at the back of the Aldi seem to be reasonable for a VW/AG tech. Unit 18, North Harbour Industrial Estate, N Harbour St, Ayr KA8 8BN.
  21. Don't think this one was shared, but this was set at Kames in Muirkirk. One of my late Dad's old stamping grounds as a young 'un.
  22. Badly needs washed, but shines nicely.
