  1. My Fabia hatch (2006) was a nice replacement from the Grande Punto (2008) I was meant to bet, being a higher spec in some regards funnily enough.
  2. Hello and a warm welcome to Briskoda! Amazing that you've had a BX for so long.
  3. Ambiente gets electrically adjustable heated mirrors over the Bohemia though. So it wins in my book.
  4. Also, check your spare wheel well for water. Mine didn't have any when I bought the car but about a month later it was full, turns out one of the vents was leaking on the rear.
  5. I've got a small bubble (I think) on my tailgate just above the number plate, but it's nothing I'm worried about. Sills do rust if harbouring grit and water but only if you maybe clean it once a millennia or just have blatant disregard for your car's paintwork.
  6. Aye I know, hence the "if possible" bit. I'm about as good with diesels as I am at art, and I got told not to take art as a subject at school.
  7. Would you maybe benefit from getting a tailgate from a scrap car (see eBay) and using that instead? It's probably cheaper.
  8. Make sure it has been serviced with the right oil, if possible. Take it out for a test drive and if you hear creaking going over speedbumps etc then you should get the console bushes seen to or use it for bargaining with the seller and get the job done later. Make sure all of the electrics work too; test the windows, rear screen heater, air conditioning (if applicable), recirculation, and so on. Make sure your fuel cap opens okay if it's one of the pull-release types too, mine is missing the spring but I've bodged my way about that one. Edit: Check for leaking rear doors too. Hope that helps you somewhat.
  9. Hello and a warm welcome to Briskoda. Hope your Skodas are treating you well!
  10. That's about what my Mum gets in her Duster (same engine heavier car) while I jaunt about happily in my Fabia getting 40mpg
  11. So I've always had a 35mm camera of some sort (I also buy them before selling them on my eBay store) and for the past few years I've always kept a Praktica BMS (with original GDR-made Pentacon lenses) sitting on standby for the day where I want to use it again. I am now in a position where I'd like to procure some film for it and my free stash of expired (shot at lower ISO etc to compensate) Kodak Ektachrome from 1988 ran out c. 2019 so I'm a tad stuck. Certainly, I could go for Colour Negative film with the camera, but I like using the projector I bought many moons ago. Now, Agfa's CT Precisa 100 (which I used to be able to get for £6 a roll ) hasn't been in production since 2018. I am wondering, however, if anyone has got any recommendations for relatively cheap colour reversal film that I could use in this camera as I grudge paying £17 for a roll of Fujifilm Provia 100f but I suppose I may have to just do that if push comes to shove. Thanks.
  12. A couple more photographs from yesterday's road trip...
  13. Good morning Steven and a warm welcome to Briskoda. Hope the Octavia treats you well!
  14. Glad that you've got this fixed.
  15. Yeah that sounds about right. Mine never had a CD changer and only has the two ISO connectors and the antenna connector.
  16. Hello and a warm welcome to Briskoda from a not so far away neighbour.
  17. A vRS SE passed me about half past three today on the A75. Don't know what one it was but I've seen it in the Dumfries are before. Whoever you are, you've got a nice looking motor.
  18. Could you post some photographs here so I (or others) can see what you're referring to. I feel a wee bit lost.
  19. Switch them over as @TMB says if you're partial to keeping most settings.
  20. 350 odd miles knocked back like a dream in the Fabia (besides nearly running out of petrol) involving a run to Portpatrick, Stranraer, and other associated places.
  21. A Nano is a good choice. I get a "device not recognised" through my aftermarket Kenwood KDC-BT640U in my Fabia but the old Alpine unit I had before was designed specifically for it. Sadly it is the march of progress and I, for one, don't like it.
  22. Views from Portpatrick...
  23. I didn't say there was, but there's a reason I'm on aftermarket speakers all round...
  24. Get prices for both? Sepulchrave is right, especially if it has been like this since you purchased the car. How do you know that they weren't "old skool" ravers?
  25. Possibly, if it's like Mk1 stereos then you should have a code number in your service book IIRC. This is where my knowledge of MkIIs begins to run out a bit. Edit: see below:
