  1. It may be cost cutting/weight saving but whats the problem with that? Both are good things if quality isnt compromised. Rocker covers have been made of plastic for over 20 years now, and in all my time working on these plastic sumped VAG engines (100s with over 100k on the clock), I dont think ive seen a plastic sump fail because its plastic - ive seen many impact damaged ones but a alloy sump wouldnt fare much better. If anything ive seen less leaks from them, mainly due to the fact that people cant crossthread these quarter turn sump plugs and cause leaks that way. Not sure about the newer TDI engines to be honest, i believe they are still metal sumped, but may be wrong.
  2. Seen as the 2.0tsi EA888 engines use a plastic sump with a plastic sump plug that has an O ring - DONT put any PTFE tape on as it will leak.... Instead, when removed, clean the sump plug and inspect the O-ring for any damage, if any is found, replace, if not, reuse is perfectly fine. 06L103801 - plastic sump plug 06L115562 for all 2.0TSI engines - which has now superseeded to 06L115562B
  3. No visible indication to the driver. You can go to the climate menu, settings and make sure auto recirculation is selected though.
  4. Stripped down many of these seats, the drivers seat 100% should not/does not have one. As @J.R. has said, chances are someone has possibly stolen a seat base to make it work. Which would make sense as to why its not plugged in, as there is no wiring or need for it.

You’re right that originally they were an ‘alternative’ to seat belts. you are right the drivers seat doesn’t have an occupancy sensor as - all going well, someone is sitting there when the vehicle is moving. airbags will do more damage without a seatbelt - imagine you tripped over and fell face first onto the ground, it’s going to hurt. Now imagine I said I was going to catch your fall with a baseball bat coming towards you, i think I’d rather fall on the floor. but I’m sure we can all agree, seat belts and airbags are safety critical and should be worn/used
  6. Definitely not the case! Airbags are designed to be used in conjunction with seat belts. Pre tensioners to position you correctly and airbags to prevent head damage mainly (except knee bags to prevent submarining). If the seat belt isn’t plugged in they will not activate in a crash, as hitting an object and travelling forward at 60mph whilst that airbag deploys at Xmph back into you will do a whole lot more damage than if it didn’t deploy at all - if you’re not belted in that is. They are called SRS officially - supplementary restraints - not a replacement and definitely not effective without a seatbelt.

It is the passenger seat occupancy sensor. connects to a contact element Inside the seat and yes the blue end just hangs under the seat albeit should be quite high up under the base and out of sight. the bit in the bottom of your photo going towards the foam goes under the foam on the metal base and creates a pressure sensor
  9. The part number above is the newest revision which hopefully fixes some of the failings with the old one. don’t worry about the HW and SW, just the part number.
  10. The air quality sensor only has an affect on air recirculating and air con particulate removal properties
  11. If you connect straight to the negative terminal you bypass the current monitor and the battery monitor can’t track how charged/discharged the battery is
  12. You never said this part…. You need to run a new wire to the body control module from every lamp unit and this needs to then be coded correctly to work.
  13. Still got my original factory battery after 6 1/2 years with no signs of failure. all depends on how long it’s left and if it is properly charged on runs or only the odd trip to the shop once a week for example
  14. If done correctly, yes. The shafts are locked at the water pump end and the pulleys are allowed to freewheel until after the belt is tensioned
  15. Is your car on its original timing belt or has it been replaced? If it’s been replaced there’s a chance the bolts weren’t replaced and torqued correctly. id be replacing the bolts with new ones with loctite and refitting to the correct torque
  16. I sell genuine boot release handles for £25 posted in the U.K. if that is the fault. But if you are saying the button on the centre console is not unlocking the boot (have you tried with the car on/off/running) then there may be a different issue at fault

  18. It depends if you purchased a 5A or 5C immobiliser cluster. do you know what you purchased?
  19. The GPS is done with a single wire with fakra connectors which plugs from the MIB unit to the shark fin.
  20. You are giving the absolute bare minimum response and ignoring questions, that will not help us get your car fixed. Run us through start to finish what it is you are doing as if we were standing right next to you include what you are doing specifically and any responses you get from the car or tool.
  21. Stop changing parts without a proper diagnosis. Have you checked for power at the lamp unit? have you changed any coding in the car? Have you changed any parts and what was the outcome? Have you checked any fuses?
  22. What is stopping the keys from being coded? and the part number doesn’t tell you if it’s the early or late version of the immo (you need early) who is trying to code the keys and is the cluster brand new? what fault code is odis returning?
  23. New cars use a thinner oil and run much hotter, they will burn through oil whereas older cars just used to leak it out like a sieve 😂
  24. The coolant bypass valve is located on the opposite end to the timing end. It is just above the gearbox bell housing, small black cylinder with an electrical plug and 2 coolant pipes. Fairly common for failing
  25. In the photo you’ve attached, the 4 fingers closed to the bottom of the photo go in first, then the top side of the photo pivots up and clicks into place.
