Driving in Holland
Although it amay be true that the DRLs on our Karoq act with equal brightness as 'sidelights' , the difference is that there are no rear lights on with the DRLs. And unusually the DRLs seem to funtion at the same brightness even when the headlights are on. On our othrer non VAG car, the DRLs become less bright when acting as sidelights. On the subject of auto lights, I was following a Mini in the dark along the dual carriageway A31. There were no rear lights on. Eventually I passed it and found the the car was being driven on DRLs which appeared to be bright enough to provide some illumination of the road for the driver. If the car had been equipped with auto lights and they had been switched to auto this most probably wouldn't have happened. I always use auto on both cars, the only problem I have is that the system doesn't work in dalight fog, and I have to resort to switching on manually.

Tyre Pressure Problems
I'm sorry, I don't undestand how the indirect TPMS can give a warning for all four tyres. It doesn't measure speed but relies on the ABS sensors. The sensord measure the rotation speed of each wheel relative to each other and the speed which is in the system from the reset. If one tyre loses pressure the rolling diameter decreases and the wheel rotates faster. The system picks this up after a short while and indicates that there is an unexpected rotation speed, therefore a loss of pressure. On our Karoq the system actually indicates which tyre, although on other cars we have owned it did not indicate which tyre. If all tyres are losing pressure the rotation speed of all of them will increase, and there may not be a discrepancy between wheels, so probably no alarm. I could understand an alarm of two tyres were depressurising, but if three were, there would be an odd one running at a different speed, and whether the system would recognise the one revolving slower as 'abnormal' and the other three as normal, I just have no idea. I have no idea where the cars actually obtain their speedo reading from. If it isn't from ABS sensors it is possible that the TPMS system measures against the initiallised speedo reading.

Driving in Spain in my Skoda Kamiq 1.00 TSI SE L EXEC = LED lights
As the original post was over a month ago, this may help others. There may be a setting in the menus for left hand and right hand running. There is on our Karoq and may be similar on a Kamiq.

Tyre Pressure Problems
Does the tyre pressure diagram on the screen have the tyre pressures displayed? If not, your TPMS is the indirect type. Are you reinitiallising by pressing 'set' when you reset the pressures? If you are losing only 1.5 psi, I'm surprised it is registering, as indirect systems often only register when the drop is ~6 psi. Is it the same tyre which is low each time? If so I suggest you check for a slow puncture.

12v Front Socket - Permanently Live?
I have a bullet connector in my front socket. The tell-tae red light is always on. I would have preferred to run my dashcam from this outlet, but as it is always live I have to run it from the usb c socket. But that is a problem in itself, as connecting direct the car sees the dashcam as a computer, and will only work with a data only lead.

12v Front Socket - Permanently Live?
On the contrary, I've never known an accessory socket which didn't switch off when 'ignition' was off ,apart from an early Citroen C4 Picasso, which had a permanently live socket in the boot. The other two sockets were ignition controlled. This led to me running the battery flat in Austria when my kids forgot to unplug a fridge. The replacement car, a 2011 version, had a switched socket in the boot.

Temperamental ENGINE stop/start button
Can you confirm what actually happens when you press the button and it doesn't start. Does the starter operate but the car doesn't star, or does nothing happen.

Sorry, a tyre query
You probably have little option. A tyre of the same size from a different manufacturer will probably make little difference. You can't really use different sze tyres on the same rims, so you would need to buy smaller wheels with higher profile tyres. I have the same wheels on my car, also with Bridgestone Turanzas, and I am happy with the ride and comfort, but I am rather disappointed with the potential wear. I'm only on ~14000 miles but the tyres look touch and go for a 3000 mile trip in June. I may have to opt to have the wheels rotated front to back.

Reversing lights
This will depend on the purpose of the reversing light. Is it to indicate to others that the car is reversing or to illuminate behind the car?

New car.
Do they fit Eco tyres. These are not the same as summer tyres, and if they are fitted the difference in fuel consumption is minimal. I've seen a tyre test for Eco tyres, and the wet grip is far worse than the standard summer tyre, more on par with many of the Chinese imports.

Moving from 2015 fabìa 1.2 petrol to a August 2022 Karoq 1.5 petrol with dsg automatic
I thought all indicators were on the left nowadays, although it is possible that some Japanese cars have the indicators on the right.

SOS emergency contact workshop
I had this issue. They thought it was a software issue, and that they needed the car all day. I had a courtesy car (a Superb) booked for that day (Friday) and the weekend and Monday, in case the update ran over. Turns out my software was up to date and more investigation pointed to a fault with an aerial, sorry I can't remember its name. That arrived on the Thursday and was fitted that day. Had the Superb for a whole week, and have had no issues since.

1.5TSI or 2.0TSI?
A higher power engine doesn't necessarily mean worse fuel consumption. Based on the official figure of cars with three different power outputs, the best consumption is frequently obtained from the middle power. The low power ones frequently have to be driven harde to maintain progress. The fourth point is only prtially true. At current prices the first year tax ranges from £0 to £2605, wich is based on CO2 emissions. However for subsequent years every vehicle pays the same £180. So, if you buy new, you get stung with a high emission car, but buying used you should only pay the £180.

Fob battery
OK if you actually have a manual and it is in the car. At present my manual is on the computer desk next to me!
-
Fob battery
Whichever type you fit, don't go for a cheap one. The keys appear to be sensitive to brand, Panasonic being most often recommended. Also, it is sensible to carry a spare battery in your wallet/purse and one in the car to avoid being stranded if a battery fails away from home.

1.5TSI or 2.0TSI?
The diesel will probably be much better up hill. I have had diesel and now have two petrol cars, and this is where I notice the difference most.

7 speed DSG clutch...cost?
Bear in mind that the DSG is a dual clutch system, so one or both may need replacing.

Diesel or Petrol
Because all diesels produce soot. This is trapped in the diesel particulates filter. This fills and should be regenerated by the soot particles being burned off. Doesn't always happen, the filter clogs and the engine won't run. Also oil burning produces inorganic particles due to the sulphur and phosphorus compouds in the oil. The low SAPs oil sp[ecified reduces this but doesn't eliminate it totally, so on very high mileage cars this ash can block the filter. Also bear in mind that petrol cars have GDPs (gasoline particle filters). Although there doesn't appear to be an issue with these a there s far less soot produced than from a diesel, the issue of ash may potentially be an issue for high mileage cars.

Diesel or Petrol
I used to be a fan of diesel. However, the general political attitude to diesel and loss of a diesel car in a crash made me think. I bought a PSA 1.2 110bhp car and it is fine. It returned over 54mpg on a 3 day break, and performs well enough, apart from not enough pull uphill. When I wanted to change our other car we bought a 1.5 TSi Karoq manual. Fuel consumption is pretty good at ~50pg, but I don't drive particularly hard. My only real issue is lack of torque at low engine speed. There are several issues I have with diesel 1. The cost. Diesel cars cost more to buy, not sure how much at present, but it used to be ~£1500 2. Cost of fuel. I have a speadsheet to calculate the breakeve mpg to cost less in fuel. At present prices with my petrol Karoq doing 50mpg, I would need to get 57 mpg to break even, and a lot better to make a significant cost saving. 3. The potential problems with Adblue systems. I had an early Adblue tank failure, luckily covered by warranty, and I still see so many posts on other forums about issues diagnosing the problem and the costs associated with repair. 4. The ever increasing isues with using diesel cars, with (I beleive) some London Boroughs refusing to issue parking permits to diesel owners.

Virtual Cockpit Route Guidance
Try pressing the bottom left button on the right hand side of the steering wheel. Using the scroll above the button, rotate to select navigation, then press the scroller. Then scroll again until it shows what you want and press again.

Automatic Central Locking When Moving
On many cars pushing and holding the locking button will deactivate or activate locking.

Automatic Central Locking When Moving
Try this. On the touchscreen go Vehicle/settings/Opening and Closing.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) / Cruise Control (CC)
I tend to favour ordinary CC with distance braking. I don't like the way ACC always defaults to the current speed limit after the initial setting.

New sportsLine mirrors
Some Citroens which had blind spot monitoring as standard spec are currently being delivered without monitoring, apparently due to shortages caused by the chip shortage.

SKODA KAMIQ
Although this question may have been better in the Kamiq forum, there is so much in common between many Skoda models, and as far as I can tell, nowhere on Briskoda where general questions can be asked. I have a Karoq, but I always look on the Kamiq and Kodiaq forums, as there may be some threads that help me and I can contribute about common issues.
