What is YOUR best MPG with the DSG gearbox?
It isn't only the extra weight that requires extra fuel. There is also extra rolling resistance due to all the extra rotating parts. Many of these may well cause extra friction even in 2WD if it is possible.

DSG mechatronic failure .... UK parts pricing surprise!
I don't have DSG, but I have taken out the extra 2 years warranty, so bills like this should be avoided.

Returning to the Skoda fold.
I know this is a little late, but if you press the start button without putting your foot on the clutch, the majority of the car functions will work. May not apply for some software updates

Correct Tyre Pressure?
Sorry, I'm confused by this. If the rear axle maximum load is 800kg and the tyre will carry 615kg, then the two tyres on the axle will be able to carry 1230kg, well in excess of maximum tyre load. Or am I missing something?

Does the 1.5 TSI Have Rear Disc Brakes?
I all the time I have had cars with TPMS, the system warned me before I had any idea that there was an issue. The indirect systems usually alert when the tyre has gone down by 6-7 psi, which isn't enough to feel. Luckily I have not had anything worse than slow punctures cause by screw or nails.

Karoq 2020 SE L TSI 1.5 petrol engine rear fitted camera.
The camera isn't at the centre of the car, so it is unlikely you can do anything about it.

SOS fault?
The first reason I was given was that the system was changing network providers, and this was causing problems. Last occasions I had real problems was 4 alarms on a 25 mile local journey, and 3 times on a short journey to the supermarket. So unlikely to be a chaege of network. It also did a couple of thousand miles through France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and must have changed networks several times. Anyway, heard from the agent this morning, System stripped out and tested. Skoda Tech want another new aerial fitted (I did ask, there are two). I'll be taking it to Austria again in a month's time. So we shall see!

SOS fault?
Whenever this happens to me the green light is replaced by a red light. Usually can be cancelled by stopping the engine and waiting for systems to shut. My attitude is that it is something that I have paid for, something that has the potential to save lives, and I expect it to work properly.

SOS fault?
The first two occasions they replacd an aerial (don't know whether it was 2 different ones or the same one twice). Wok gratis as under warranty. This time I think they are replacing a control unit. Also not, first time they did a software updat frst, there may have been an update second time.

SOS fault?
I've had this issue on my Karoq 3 times. First 2 occasions it wa in for 5 days each time. Been having trouble again all summer with occasional alarms. I was going on a 3 week contnental trip and I would have likes to get it sorted, and the only place that could look at it before my trip was ~25 miles away. The car disgraced itself by alarming 4 times on the journey there. Skoda wanted to 'strip out' the system, but couldn't do it before our trip. So away we went, no alarms for over 2 weeks and a couple of thousand miles, but then 5 alarms in the remaining trip. The car went in yesterday, so we used it a couple of times on Sunday to fill with fuel. Alarm went off 3 times in about 5 miles. Luckily all of this is under warranty, with a nice VW T-Roc R line as a loan car for as long as it takes. My advice is that it will cost a lot to fix, but as it is a common known problem (despite what the agent tells you) you may be able to get it looked at and some kindof contribution. Won't do any harm to ask.

Noisy brakes
Surely on, what I assume, is a new car, the brakes may need 'wearing in' but I'm sure that in 8 months, they probably were worn in about 7 months and 3 weeks ago. Go to a different dealer.

Dealer forgot to transfer V5C to us!
Unless it is less than 3 years old.

First 3 Months with my Karoq
Many cars with stop/start do this. Sometning my 1.5 TSi manual does is that if it stops in a traffic queue, it restarts as soon as the car in front moves off.

rdicky
Bit late, but does the SOS warning light come up, and does the light on the overhead panel go from green to red?

SOS Problem, third time.
Sorry to have taken so long to reply. I managed to get it booked in at a different agent for diagnosis. A drive of approx 35 miles and 4 alarms on the way. They got in touch with Technical who wanted to replace some paers but as we were off in less than 7 days for a 3 and a half week continental trip I had to book it in for when I got back. Car didn't alarm on the way home, and in fact, managed to get from Dorset to Autria without alarms for over 2 weeks and a lot of miles.I was considering cancelling the work, but then the car spoiled it and alarmed 4 times in the next week or so. Si it will be going in in early August.

Clutch pedal hits the floor
If it did all diesel owners would be in trouble. It actually freezes at minus 11 degrees, a temperature which we are unlikely to see frequently in most of the UK. #https://filowholesaleltd.com/blogs/news/can-adblue-freeze

Automatic locking system override
Look beneath the heater control knobs. You should see a button with a padlock diagram on it. Press and hold and it should disable the auto locking. To reactivate just hold it down again. On most cars with this feature the autolock should disengage in the event of an accident.

2019 Škoda Karoq 1.6 TDI DSG more tire sidewall
I put the two dimensions in a tyre size calculator, and the increase in diameter comes out at 22mm, an increase of 3.27%. This is above the recommended maximum increase of 2%

Coasting - what do people think ?
I am easily confused, and this has me puzzed. Am I right in thinking that on a DSG car, in coasting mode the engine is still running? If so it is using fuel. If however the car were in gear, taking your foot off the throttle would cut the fuel supply to the engine, therefore using no fuel at all. So if you are on a motorway doing 70mph and there is a jam ahead, in the first case you would be using fuel to idle the engine, then applying brakes to stop the car. If however it stayed in gear you would use no fuel, then apply the brakes from a lower speed resulting in less brake wear. Doesn't really add up to me.

Corroded rear discs
What do you mean by 'not contacting the whole of the disc'? If you mean the swept area doesn't reach the edge of the disc, this is entirely normal. If the pads made contact right to the eg=dge, then it is possible for the pad to have an unworn edge, then, particularly on non-ventilated disc, it is possible for the pads to touch each other and for the brake to become less effective.

Kodiaq 2 PHEV launched in UK from £41,935
Just be aware that any of these cars will attract a higher rate of VED tax, whether bought new or not.
-
3 karoq - awaiting delivery what's the issue?
I doubt very much whether you will be given a choice of numbers. I have bought 10 new cars since 2000, and only once, in 2003, did I have any choice.

Aftermarket fit of raised boot floor
As far as I am aware, as a spare wheel isn't a legal requirement, if one is present it is not subject to MOT. This from Gov.uk 2.12 Tyres and wheels These will be inspected to check for: condition security tyre size and type tread depth Spare wheels and tyres are not inspected. Vehicles first used on or after 1 January 2012 will be checked to make sure the tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) MIL is working.

Kidiaq L&K fobboot release
If the boot is not electric, then obviously no. But if it is electric I would expect it to open. Just bear in mind that if it is like my Karoq the button will open the boot from a fair distance. I had my boot open everal times through accidentally pressig the button whilst my keys are in my pocket that I have removed the key from my unch and leave it on a table.

SOS Problem, third time.
Not feeling happy with Skoda and my local agents. Earliest booking I can get is 6th July, but the car will be on the continent in that time. So not in until 22nd July. BUT they are asking £24 for a loan car. I can do without one for a day for diagnostics (plus the warning of a diagnostic fee if they don't find anything) but on the last 2 occasions they had the car for 5 days, and I don't see why I should pay for a loan car whilst the car is in for warranty work.
