  1. Because the authorities in the UK have to treat us all like idiots because we have so many? It only takes one idiot to make a Tic Tok video of a pump running not in the tank But what you refer to is a different mechanism than the tripping mechanism on modern pumps. Canada have reintroduced them.
  2. When you hold the handle it does not pull out of your hand and drop when the pump stops because the tank is full. It just becomes ineffective. You do not stop the tripper latch working if something else hold the handle up. Positioned in the right place so as not to interfere with the tripping mechanism the pump always switches off when full. You should not impede the tripping mechanism.
  3. Petrol caps fit under the handle but i have to use a USB stick top because there is no (separate) fuel cap on mine.
  4. I walk around my car checking tyres for foreign objects and tread whilst filling up
  5. I can see one near the Spokes opposite the one on the nearside (as pictured) of the rim?
  6. The tyre looks like the result of driving with a vibration for weeks, i cannot see any sign of incorrect fitting either. Modern wheel balancing machine tell the operator what weights and precisely where to put them. Then they spin it again to check. If you have had the alignment checked and a new tyre it should now be fine
  7. Why not use Googlemaps Speed limit alerts and drive within them, then you don't have to worry where they are? https://support.google.com/maps/answer/9356324?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=3292869&sjid=4937796780056475035-EU#zippy=%2Cturn-speedometer-on-or-off
  8. UK sales for March
  9. Demand for new electric cars is continuing to flatline in the UK as drivers remain reluctant to make the switch, latest industry figures show. Although electric vehicle registrations grew by 3.8 per cent in March, they made up a smaller percentage of all car sales compared to the same month a year ago. Market share for EVs slipped from 16.2 per cent in March 2023 to 15.2 per cent last month, as private buyers shunned the switch to pure battery-powered cars and instead turned to hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The automotive trade body said 'a sluggish private market and shrinking EV market share' was a sign of the 'challenge ahead' for the industry, especially with manufacturers facing hefty fines if they fail to meet binding electric car sales targets from this year. https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-13271207/Electric-car-sales-falter-drivers-turn-hybrids.html
  10. New EU car sales rose 10.1% in February 2024, with the battery-electric market share remaining stable at 12%. Petrol models retained their lead as the most popular choice for buyers, followed by hybrid-electric. Diesel sales dropped in most major markets, except Germany. https://www.acea.auto/pc-registrations/new-car-registrations-10-1-in-february-2024-battery-electric-12-market-share/
  11. The original FIT scheme had two payments, generation and export. If you use it yourself you don't get the export payment surely? It's also important that people thinking of going down this road of installing Solar panel will not get the same benefits of those who got them before the FIT scheme ended. https://www.comparethemarket.com/energy/content/feed-in-energy-tariffs/
  12. carefully pull it outwards towards you as you pull it forwards? or Grab the outer of the cable and pull it towards the engine, the inner cable will remain with the handle? Or disconnect the whole mechanism from the side and pull it then? It is helpful to have someone pushing down slightly on the bonnet to take pressure off the other end.
  13. The TSRS displays the last sign it sees? The satnav is reliant on it's latest update? I would rely on the signs I see.

  15. Don't mis-understand me. I would love a BEV and when one comes along, that can meet my need, that i can afford, i am in. I don't class all EV owners as Evangilists. Some like yourself appear honest about it all. But the ones with the means to pay it forward and invest thousands of pounds in new technology and solar this and Battery storage that wind me up. They refuse to add the cost of their infrastructure into the cost. They believe they charge for "free" from a solar array. How much do they lose by not getting the "feed in tariff" or "Smart export credits" when they charge the car for the KWs they take, it's a choice but nothing comes free. To tie all my bugbears into one post why don't we have charging for free at a hub powered by Cyclists that ignore the Highway code rules, on Static bikes. πŸ˜‰
  16. The possibility of "Road charging" is EV related because it is why the scheme will be inevitable? The evangilists bang on forever about how they can charge and on a good day with a following wind they can actually get paid for driving about πŸ˜‰ But the truth will be, we know from experience in other things, that once the dust settles and everyone is on board, all the benefits of money saving will disappear. It will end up costing the same if not more. And Co2 will still be rising. As a quick aside. Last Sunday in mty 2 litre diesel I needed to go to Colne from Bolton. My trip meter range said 463miles when i left, when i got home my Range was 466miles. Because i hadn't done a decent run on the motorway for weeks. Does this mean i used no Diesel on the trip? Was it Free?
  17. You were lucky, my neighbour was,in my opinion, conned by the dealer in the trade-in because the Dealer said it was "worth nothing now really because no-one will be able to drive it" Gave him Β£4,000. That was two years ago and they still sell For over Β£7,000 now. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202403237895192?sort=price-asc&make=Mercedes-Benz&model=C Class&page=7&postcode=m456dj&price-from=3000&price-to=13000&year-from=2014&advertising-location=at_cars&fromsra
  18. That's a shame, that people sold their vehicles for something that was cancelled A friend at work lost money on a Land Rover and a neighbour traded in a Mercedes, both perfectly serviceable vehicles and are now landed with a Β£570 VED on the cars they replaced them with. Mr Burnham has a Mayoral election to win
  19. It was But i am very happy not to have it now. Β£15 a week in 1980 for fuel would be Β£129 now
  20. My Rover SDI 3500cc V8 did gallons per mile round town πŸ˜‚
  21. if you leave the Motorway in Cheshire you will not pass a GM camera until you enter Greater manchester obviously
  22. Your visit will be logged the moment you leave the Motorway
  23. At present ANPR cameras nationally, submit on average around 60 million ANPR β€˜read’ records to national ANPR systems daily. https://www.gmp.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/rs/road-safety/automatic-number-plate-recognition-anpr/
  24. ANPR cameras on every A road and significant B road like there are in Greater Manchester now. You can hardly leave the house now in GM without passing an ANPR recognition Camera
