Is the age of the car related to the current v1989 update issues?
If it was bought from a dealer as an official used Skoda then insist that they update the software for you FOC. They are supposed to have all software up to date.

locking system Octavia mark 4
The manual states that the in-car receiver for the key is underneath the front cup holder and a key with a low battery should be placed there to start the engine.

Map Update
Your infotainment version is old and needs updating. If you bought an approved Skoda used car the dealer should have upgraded all software to the latest version but they often do not. In my case I had to insist and then they did it. It will only update OTA after version 1941. For the maps database you need to download the latest map zip file and extract the folders/files from the zip archive. There are 711 folders on my USB stick after extracting the files. Plug the drive into one of the 2 USB sockets at the front and check the status after 0.5 hours of driving. There is no indication that the files have loaded.
- You need to run the engine for longer

SatNav no longer stores favourites
when I got my 2021 Octavia 2 years ago I had a number of problems including navigation not storing favourites. My software version was 1804 and I insisted that the dealer updated it to 1941 (the then latest version). This fixed my problems. If you bought an approved used Skoda then they are supposed to confirm that all software is up to date. This was the lever I used to get the infotainment updated.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
Skoda extended warranty rejected the claim as being above the maximum value of the policy. My garage pointed out that I had all components cover where the upper limit was the market value of the car. The claim has been approved and I am now waiting for the part which is on back order.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
The garage has asked me for the videos I took as they say that Skoda UK wants more evidence before authorising replacement. The garage has already told them that they have found broken electrical connections. I am taking the videos in tomorrow.

Infotainment System Restarting endlessly
I had this problem in August. The car is being checked today and I have just been informed that there is an electrical problem and the garage is contacting Skoda to approve a warranty replacement of the infotainment module.

Built In Sat-Nav.... Can you submit changes?
When Nokia phones disintegrated the map and navigation business was bought by a consortium of car companies including VW. The public offering was relaunched as the free Here maps. Have a look on Here maps to see how your footpath is shown and submit a change request as necessary. This is described above. Personally I use Here maps on my android phone and find the maps very similar to the Skoda maps.

NEW: software 1985
the OTA updates are for various functions in the car and you will not normally notice any change unless you have been suffering from a problem that the update fixes. These fixes are automatic and free, they are not listed on the public portal. You will only get map updates OTA if you subscribe to the infotainment package.

Sat-Nav Maps Latest Version?
you could try an OTA update. In the UK you can sign up for a 1 month trial of the online service and it is free if you then cancel it. If this is available to you then you could sign up to the navigation service and see if that will update your maps. You could then cancel after 1 week.

So we know that the infotainment c=system can read the memory card but I am now out of ideas as mine updates after about 30 minutes of driving.
