  1. The first thing to do is ask for a printout of the complete service record from the new garage. Once you have this you can check it against your own records. If it matches up then you're good to go. If it can't be supplied and an excuse is given then you can go to your main Skoda dealer and ask for it. To be very honest, I only ever use the main dealer for service, yes it is more expensive, but as a customer you can ask for the full service history printout. I tend to keep all the receipts as well, also for things like tyres. Pays off when you trade the car in or sell it. On the other hand, there are many reputable indy garages out there who pay the fee to be able to keep the online service record up to date and to be able to access it. In some cases these guys are better than the main dealer. I find that asking around is a good plan.
  2. If they are "ordinary" bulbs then you might need a ballasted LED to keep the system happy. Easy way is to try one at a time.
  3. The speed limiter and the speed limit warning are two different systems. You can enable the speed limiter so that you do not exceed the speed you set. The speed limit warning sounds a chime once you exceed the posted speed limit. It also sounds a (different) tone when the speed limit changes. Both of these settings are user configurable via the digital dash controls.
  4. I am not the tallest person in the world. I find the drivers seat, even on max lift, to be a little bit lower than I like and I have at least 15cm of headroom above me. Anybody know if it's possible to increase the seat height?
  5. One last thought, look in messages to make sure there is not a pending update "stuck" there. some territories do OTA updates for a lot of stuff, even major software updates. If it's not that then all you can do is take it to the dealer and ask for a full re-install of the software. Or a new infotainment unit.
  6. Yes, there is already more than one thread on here about how to do it. Software Update available for Bolero? - Škoda Scala - BRISKODA
  7. Android phones will connect by bluetooth (You will not be able to use Android Auto). The point is you need to pin down the issue to either your phone or to Android Auto or to the Infotainment. Once you know the culprit you can look for solutions.
  8. Few things to try: Stop using Android Auto to confirm if the problem is related to your phone. Make sure Android Auto is up to date. Just use the phone paired without android auto. Try connecting the phone via USB. If it's always when the phone is connected it's a phone problem.
  9. If your car is like mine you can change the view as you get closer to things. This does show the edge of the bumper. It's all explained in the manual how to change from the normal to the close up view.
  10. Yes your dealer can help but will probably charge you. If you are good with computers it may be possible to do it yourself but if you make a mistake then you'll ruin the infotainment.
  11. I don't think you can connect 2 phone simultaneously. I think you need to un-pair the older phone first.
  12. If you are unsure that you can do the update then ask the dealer. don't let them fob you off though. That said different hardware configurations may use different versions of software to give best performance. With infotainment I've learnt that if it ain't broke then don't fix it.
  13. Glad that There will be some contribution from the Skoda side.
  14. @DaveK0974 Do you use android Auto or Apple carplay by any chance?
  15. @Ootohere Why do you need to be quite so belligerent in your posts? I offer opinions here, as you do. I don't find the need to constantly question the opinions that others offer unless they are patently wrong or constitute bad or unsafe advice. IF you really don't know how to tell if a clutch is on it's last legs after driving for as many years as you have then perhaps asking would be better? 😃
  16. Let's be clear here. This is not 100% the owners fault. The owner, reasonably, contacted the recovery service provided as part of the overall warrantee. The recovery service apparently insisted the car could be driven. Clearly from what the OP has said this proved not to be the case. Now, should the owner have booked the car in at the first sign of a clutch slip, -yes! Should it have been driven with a known slipping clutch, - No. Should the car have been sold with a clutch that was on it's last legs as Skoda Approved, - No! The fact that Skoda UK have apparently involved themselves should tell you everything you need to know. The fact that "goodwill" payments have been mentioned also gives a big clue.
  17. Right, my thoughts which have been suggested already. Classically the clutch plate is designed to wear out. The normal first symptom is a little clutch slip. This is the sign to get the car booked in for a new clutch, well before the flywheel gets damaged. The recovery service should have known better than to force the car into gear. The fact the clutch could not be properly disengaged indicates something far worse than wear on the clutch plate. I would insist the dealership check the whole clutch release mechanism. The pictures make it clear both clutch and flywheel are toast but you'd need the parts inspected independently to find root cause. Maybe Skoda UK would like to take a look at the parts?
  18. I have re-read the "symptoms" and I'm not at all convinced it's just the clutch. That said I hope that is all it is. A good indy should be able to do the job for far less. The dealer thinks he has you over a barrel, reason enough to take the car elsewhere.
  19. Telephone Skoda UK. Tell them you bought the car as Skoda approved and it came with a warrantee that the dealer seems to be refusing to honour. If you hear that the clutch is not covered ask them where it says this. Also ask them why a car with apparent hard use was sold as Skoda approved and ask, as a minimum for a good will payment. In my last Audi I did 68,000 miles on the original brakes. It sounds like your car was maybe thrashed.
  20. We should all remember that these toys are driver aids.

MS windows was once great at finding the album art of almost any album. Not so much now. If you have the CD you can scan the cover and save it but that is a bit geeky.

This has been a VAG "issue" for years. You'll already know that each album has to be in it's own folder the root directory of the USB drive. Also the drive is better if it does not have any other data on it. Beyond that I've found that having the exact right size of album art in the same folder as the music sometimes works and sometimes not. In our car about 80% of the music shows album art using this method. The only for sure cure I've ever found is to use an MP3 tag editor to add the album art to each track. Also means you need every track ripped as MP3. The source thing is annoying. If you plug in a phone the infotainment just assumes you want to use it as the source. Even if you just plugged the phone in to charge it up. There is sometimes a chance to default back to the USB drive but you need to be quick. If I just want to charge a phone I use the rear seat ports.
  23. I drive the 1.5 DSG and it'll return over 50 mpg on long runs at the legal limit and well over 40 mpg around town. I don't find I need to change driving mode, just a little prod on the throttle is sufficient. Bear in mind there were engine changes and only the EVO2 engine seems to have ironed out all the bugs.
  24. Yep, if the camera behind the mirror is present then it can be done using VCDS. There are several firms that could do the coding. There are also a lot of folks who have the kit and can do it. You'll find dealers reluctant to do the adaptation. There is a VCDS forum on this site.
  25. USB is the simplest way. I'd be worried about anything that needed to pull 3 amps! that's 36W!
