Squeaky brakes in reverse... but not always!
My previous car a Passat B8, squeaked on reverse almost every time I reversed off the drive. If I revered onto the drive - no squeak . My new Superb SE L does it the opposite. I reverse on it squeaks when I drive away not when I drive on. Qualifiers this is not after a few minuets but rather hours ie overnight. Less than a few hours there’s no squeak at all. There is a tiny slope of about 4 degrees down towards the house. Your issue may be different. John

I have a Superb 2.0tdi fwd only 1200 miles, however I have not had any front wheels spin up in pulling off energetically either left right or straight ahead, most of this mileage has been gone in the wet as we’ve suffered with lots of rain in the S/W and N/Wales where about 750 miles has been done. I still have the (not very good imho) factory fitted rubber fitted. Any other usurers with comments about the factory fitted tyres would interest me, I expect `all weather tyres are on the horizon. Door auto locking inhibit
I don’t have a contact with this new allsinging and dancing version. AI gave me this information. Leading me to believe it may not be that simple and also it’s possibly expensive 🤷♂️ Yes, OBDeleven (especially the Pro/Ultimate version) can change MANY safety and customization settings on VAG (VW, Audi, Skoda, SEAT) cars, using long coding, adaptations, and One-Click Apps, allowing adjustments like disabling seatbelt warnings (IF LEGAL/SAFE), enabling emergency brake lights, or altering door lock behaviors, but newer models OFTEN REQUIRE SFD unlocking for protected modules, and it's vital to back up settings first. What OBDeleven Can Do: Access Control Units: Scan, diagnose, and modify settings in modules like airbags, infotainment, and body electronics. Long Coding: Manually adjust parameters (bits/bytes) in control units for deep customization. Adaptations: Perform specific procedures like steering angle sensor calibration or resetting service intervals. One-Click Apps: Pre-packaged coding changes (e.g., flashing lights on lock/unlock) that cost credits. SFD Unlock: Automatically unlocks protected modules (common on newer cars) for coding/adaptations with Pro/Ultimate plans. Safety-Related Changes (Examples): Emergency Brake Lights: Flash during hard braking. Lock/Unlock Beeps: Horn confirmation when locking/unlocking. Auto Lock/Unlock: Change when doors lock/unlock with speed. Parking Sensor Volume/Chimes: Adjust settings in the radio/infotainment. Important Considerations: Backup First: Always make a full backup of a control unit before changing settings. Pro/Ultimate Needed: For many advanced features (like SFD unlock and deep coding), a paid subscription (Pro or Ultimate) is required. Vehicle Specificity: Features vary greatly by model, year, and control unit. Legal & Safety: Be cautious; altering safety features (like airbags) can have legal or safety consequences. In short, OBDeleven offers extensive control over VAG vehicle functions, including many related to comfort and safety, but requires understanding and care, especially with newer, more secure vehicles.

Sold a Damaged 2019 Moon White Skoda Octavia Vrs 245. May be back up for sale ?
Sadly the world is full of robbing bar stewards. What was the mileage? If a little north of 19K, it’s possibly on sale again

Very nice indeed and also rare making it stand out even more 👍

Octavia vRS FL first impressions
I had an offer I couldn’t refuse on my 75 plate Superb, the discount offered made taking the Black over significantly more expensive Red a no brainer tbo. The cost of the extra cleaning components over 10 years will only make a small dent in the discount. I do enjoy washing the car. Also, I have changed from a hand wash and polish to pre wash- foam wash and rinse- dry. I’ll get the hand of it in a couple more washes and a better foam gun 🤞 John

Mysterious Brake
I’ll bet that’s only the “seat belt” tensioners tightening up not the brakes.🤩 A new system to me as well, but I did read parts of the user guide.

Has anyone experienced any malfunctions with their 2025 Skoda Superb?
Louise, I do hope they resolve this for you, and quickly. This evening I was chatting to a mechanic friend. He said that it sounds like a control box is failing. He also mentioned that it’s unusual for the Auto hold to switch its self off and (I’d told him this had also happened to me) he asked if I’d manually switch off the “handbrake” in the centre console by hand as that in VAG cards disables the Auto hold. I don’t do that as my previous Passat, A3 and Passat before that, all had Auto hold and I was confident in its use. He had no more advice that you were not already doing sadly. John

Fuel economy
34 miles round trip this evening gave me a pleasant surprise, an Average of 64.2 mpg. To be open, there was almost no traffic on the roads with 90%+ A roads, no wind and 6c. It’s possible that as it gets run in I’ll be very pleasantly surprised. I’d like the extra 40bhp, but don’t need the extra weight that’s hitting the 190 TDI, or the extra fuel consumption. My days of needing to go anywhere fast are long passed. Large, comfortable and reliable with few fuel stops are my main requirements. TDI’s do that for me. The 4 WD is only on demand it’s the extra weight that’s hitting the fuel consumption

When to fit new cam belt on my no history 156,000 miler
I would, as others advised, do a full belt, tensioner, water pump and alternator belt at the least. Also check the air and cabin filters, if they look heavily soiled, I would also replace them and possibly the fuel filter. Without history it’s always a difficult decision to: Change the brake fluid Change the coolant Re-gas the Aircon Change the gearbox oil and filter if fitted. Sadly that’s an expensive list unless your capability and equipment meets most of them. With the tools and facilities it’s only the aircon that’s problematic. John

Fuel economy
I drove my 2025 Superb Estate 2.0tdi 150 2wd, from Bristol to Hereford then to Glen Ceriog and return to Bristol with some short runs each stop over the extended weekend just gone. The trip to Hereford about 80 miles averaged 57.8 mpg To Clen Ceriog Mainly A roads 55.4 mpg The return journey via A roads and a busy M5 and congested M4 54.7 mpg. I now have 1047 miles on the clock and expect that as the engine is run in I’ll get about 2mpg improvement on average. On runs with my boss (SHMBO) in the car, it’s a conservative drive mainly to the speed limits. Not using the nanny system. John

Has anyone experienced any malfunctions with their 2025 Skoda Superb?
Louise, I’ve only 1047 miles on mine. The errors I’ve come across (in the order of times it’s happened) Reversing camera not switching off after reversing out of a parking bay and driving off. About 20 occasions. Auto Hold switching off. About 6 times, not for 4 days currently. Traffication, just once. There may have been others in the first few days, I hadn’t done enough research to understand if it was me not applying the correct setting for what I needed. I seem to have the settings as I need them now happily. John

Car not connecting to internet
I might just be clutching at straws here……l Have you down loaded and set up the App? If not then that would be my next move - just in case they are linked🤞

DSG Oil Change
I have 381 in my 2.0 TDI 150 superb wagon, it will definitely be subject to an oil and filter change at between 40-50k. I would much sooner have the piece of mind that it’s been done to be honest

Platinum Skoda - Bath.
Update, My mudflaps were fitted yesterday all looks well 👍 However as it’s pi* I mean raining hard and expected to continue all day I have yet to have a good look at them 🤦♂️ On the Plus side I was left with a Karoq Sportline to tootle around in. SHMBO enjoyed the ride, I thought it was rather sloppy into any sort of corner and despite it being a 75 plate seemed old fashioned after my Superb 🤷♂️ All first world issues 🥳 John

BarneyT
Barney, There are more than a few videos on the tube of you. I did my old mk6 Passat a few years ago after watching a few of those videos, if you have a few basic tools it’s about 45 minutes out in the cold and your light will be greatly improved. I used this guys method and used from 600 to 3,000 wet and dry. https://youtu.be/jjD8v5ar0qA John

Permanently disable lane assist and speed limit warning on the 2025 Skoda Superb MK4
That’s very true, the shills who are supported by OBD are still giving the impression that it will work, despite being aware. It can however (I understand) make the changes for new brake pads, batteries ect, just not the safety systems covered by SFD2
- 2024 Superb Sel ACC/Signpost recognition intermittently throwign error.

New battery
I would change like for like. As you have a stop/start system it’s important to have at least hte same spec. The cheaper batteries most likely won’t support the extra power draw required. Unless you’re going to replace it in the next couple of years the new batt will very likely last as long as the old one. Buy once cry once.

The automatic switching on headlights
That’s a fact, however the controls are very simple and in view to switch these on/off fog lights or bad weather lights. I’d prefer all round daylights (Saab started this trend back in the 900 days). John
