  1. I went for blue because my mk1 was red, and I wanted a change. Everyone this time last year was ordering white, my wife has the anthracite on her fabia and a yellow estate was way beyond thinking about.... Way too many silver cars about, Black woulda looked like a hearse, so that left me with the blue, which I have to be honest, looks fantastic, especially on the estate A few weeks after I picked her up, I went back to the dealers, and they had Red, Black and Silver vrs estates on the forecourt, and was so glad I chose the blue No Regrets Steve
  2. My 60 plate Octy vRS has used a litre in 9500 miles, that said, it used it quite early on, and now seems to have settled. My wifes 10 plate fabia 105 used no oil at all between collection and 1st service. I do check both quite regularly Steve
  3. Also gone from a mk1 to a mk2, 8 years no problems with my mk1. No brainer to go to a mk2 vrs, and still smiling! 9 full years of vrs driving, with just a thermostat failure as a black mark. Not bad for 110'000 miles....

  5. Got mine with just the spare as an option, didnt even bother with the maxidot. Its quiet, fast, good looking and brings a smile to my face everytime. Never had xenons, so wouldnt miss them, i hate leather seats, especially in summer, and the estate looks so much classier than the hatch...... You wont be disappointed
  6. If you did a black polo shirt with a vrs badge embroidered on u may sell a few.....
  7. Just gonna put my bit in...... I had a Mk1 vRS, on a 52 plate from brand new, kept it for 8 years, no problems, covered 100,000 miles and still ran like new when I decided to get shot. The only reason I decided to get a new one was because of the vat reduction deal that was around. I cover around 12'000 miles a year, so decided to stick with the petrol because I didn't think Diesel was justified with the mileage I cover, had heard a lot about DPF troubles and because my neighbour has an Audi Diesel that i hear start up every morning that sounds like a tractor. I did think about a L&K 1.8t instead, but due to the amount of time I usually keep my cars, there was a lot of gadgets that could go wrong, so decided on another vRS as the styling is great, although I did go for the estate as I think they keep their looks longer, hatchbacks seem to "age" quite quickly. I also opted to stay with a manual gearbox, again due to possible future costs if things go wrong. What I am trying to say is weigh up all those options that are available, and which ones are important to you. If you are keeping your car for as long as I will, depreciation wont be too much of a factor either. Everyone has different needs, so just think about what yours are! Steve
  8. It is a shocking error, but then its one that has also taken the owner quite a while to spot. I wonder if there is a vRS driving around with 2 Monty wheels on? Anyways, my wifes fabia is in for its 1st service today, 1.2 (105bhp) We got in touch with our 3 local-ish dealers for prices, Newport quoted £120, Griffin Mill quoted £140, but then dropped it to £120, and White Dove......Didnt even bother coming back to us with a price. I have had a few dealings with White Dove, and have to say, I wont even bother contacting them next time, I find them a complete waste of space.... Regards Steve
  9. Now had 6 fill ups with my 10 plated Petrol vRS on Fuelly, and its averaging out at.... 33.6 mpg Best has been 35.5 It also tells me its costing 18.1p per mile to run Its still a lot better than my mk1 vRS used to manage Steve
  10. Hey Adam Glad you have finally got the car, and it is looking stunning.... Will keep an eye out for you around the town. Sorry to hear about the puncture, typically I had exactly the same problem, in fact, within 6 months of me getting my Octy, all 4 tyres had been plugged (bloody industrial estates) I didn't get Maxidot with my wifes fabia, or with my Octy, and to be honest have not worried about it one bit. My wife has that 105 engine in her Fabia, but she has the SE trim. Its a great little engine, and is due its 1st service next week, 1 year old, 7000 miles, not 1 drop of oil added. My Octy on the other hand, has used 1 liter of oil in 9000 miles and 10 months of use And of course, don't let these first niggles get you down, that is an amazing looking car, will be turning plenty of heads, and will last you for many years to come! Now go bloody enjoy!! Steve
  11. Started mine off on V-power, then when the price went silly stuck to normal Shell Fuel. No noticeable difference to me, and the shell garage i use is the same price as tesco.
  12. I started keeping a check on my fuel with Fuelly.com and over the last 5 fill ups am currently averaging 34.7mpg with a Petrol vRS Sadly I don't do that much motorway miles, as I'm pretty sure it would be much better than that, but still happy. My old mk1 vRS used to average 30mpg..... Steve
  13. I'm finding that with the conti's, not much left on them, may get to 9k......
  14. Just buy a quinny stroller, one of the models folds up to the size of a small holdall. Ours cost us about 120 quid i think http://www.quinny.com/ot-en/strollers/quick-use/zapp
  15. Lol, I'm 39 and speak Ghetto....... You knows it!
  16. I'll keep an eye out in the 'port..... The wait really does ur head in, but not long to go matey....
  17. I thought that..... After 3 fill ups using fuelly.com my mpg is showing at 34mpg with my 2.0 petrol vRS, and most of mine is 50/50 town and motorway. (early days with fuelly, but my trip readings usually tell me around the 38mpg mark) My wife has that engine in manual form in her Fabia, great little motor, but can't help but feel it would be working very hard to pull an Octy around, it is a big car for a little unit. Is the Octy the biggest car that is supplied with that 1.2?
  18. Just joined fuelly, and my first couple of fill ups are at 35.5mpg average for my Mk2 Octy petrol vRS, not bad....... will see if that changes much as I have to fill up again in the morning..... according to the brochure, I should see 37.7, so its not a million miles away driven nicely..... What disgusts me most tho, was a fiat 500 had just fueled up on there from America, at 93 cents a litre, and the fill up cost them £21.50 (converted to pounds) Didn't realise exactly how much we get ripped off!!!
  19. Just come back from a weekend in Cornwall. Brimmed the tank before i left on my petrol vrs, and my wifes 1.2 105bhp fabia. Travelled down there from south wales, 70 all the way down, i averaged 42mpg (according to trip computer), a few localish days out down there, and then returned again at 70 pretty much all the way back. A total of 414 miles on trip, 20 miles left according to trip computer. Average of 38.3 showing on trip computer for whole trip Just filled back up, £71.50 of standard shell fuel, exactly 53.00 litres Driven nicely, its not a bad return, especially as the car was loaded with 2 passengers but luggage for 4 My wifes did the same milage, dunno what her trip comp is showing other than she had 30 miles left in tank, but that took 42 litres to fill back up, at a cost of £55
  20. I do about 10k a year in a petrol, average around the 32mpg mark. (50/50 split between town and motorway) A run from wales to heathrow last week, cruise set at 70mph saw 39mpg average (early hours) Usually costs about 65 quid to fill, and get around 350 per tank So not too bad..... Steve
  21. Hmm.... fuel for the trip..... 1919 miles divided by the 31mpg that the OP mentioned = 62 gallons of fuel. 62 multiplied by 4.54 to convert to litres = 281.48 litres 281.48 litres multiplied by cost of £1.35 (local shell standard fuel) = £379.99 That sound about right Rob??
  22. When i got my vrs estate in blue, our sales director also had a L&K in black, saloon version. He hates it, always looks dirty, and regrets it big time. Of course, what with his being diesel as well, i have fun reminding him of the fact he bought a taxi! I still think the estate is a much nicer shape, its just black always looks a bit "hearse-like"
  23. Just topped up by another half litre in mine, so thats a litre now in 6500 miles.... Steve
