  1. The car I bought Wednesday just threw this error at me this morning. Switching car off and on seemed to make it go away and it didn't return. I didn't buy the car from a Skoda dealer so I think there will be 3 month warranty and that's it. I'm considering buying a year long Skoda warranty and will get it sorted under that. <derp - not software fix, needs hardware>. Will see how it goes over the coming weeks.
  2. One would argue that the imminent arrival of the 2nd gen will result in some bargain first gens of course! The Stinger is a very handsome car indeed.
  3. Yes being second hand I was limited of course but that colour is really nice, photos don't do it justice!
  4. Good thread. Ironically I updated my VW Scirocco SD card with the Discover software last week, then I traded it in yesterday... The maps in my new car appear to never have been updated. So - using the direct download and I've had to order some new 32GB cards as I seem to have mislaid the only one I ever had. Bought 2 for £12! Amazed how cheap they are. A 128GB one is only £17! Looks like it'll take <30 minutes to get the whole 26GB. Not bad for home broadband, however I am cheating slightly - I've got 2 x 70Mbps internet connections.
  5. Would this all be covered under an extended warranty? I've put in 750ml of oil in 9000 miles which I don't think is too bad, but will be keeping an eye on this. Going to put the car on variable servicing now as I'm covering 25K per annum.
  6. I turned them off because it looks like I've got my fog lights on all the time.
  7. I'd imagine this is something that could be tuned with VCDS.
  8. Same, I wanted a 2.0TSI when I was buying but there were none about, hence my 1.8TSI Good luck selling, lovely colour that.
  9. Update. So Skoda in Newport ended up having the car for damn near a fortnight over the Xmas period, where at one point, Skoda UK claiming that I had "no extended warranty" and refused to pay out. After a swift threat of court action, the garage double checked and indeed Skoda were wrong. Car had a whole "new clutch" at apparently a cost of £1200, and all paid for under the warranty. I've now done 5K in the car since I've had it back in Jan (I drive a lot) and it's been fine since. I actually purchased a warranty for year 6 of the cars life, as I'm going to be throwing another 25K through it this year and I want to cover myself as the engine is one from the age of dicky chain tensioners. If I have a good year I may extend the warranty again, then after year 7 shove it off for something else. Hopefully by then I'll get a job closer to home.
  10. Good news, everyone! Main dealer said that there was indeed a technical bulletin that highlights the clutch pack needing replacement in such a case so looks like this will be sorted under warranty.
  11. DSG6 wet clutch service is 40K, and is extra. Cambelt is usually 4 years or 60K miles as far as I know... But if it's 4 years, then time to change. No good when the belt has snapped.
  12. Ah so, time for some good old thread necromancy. My car was due it's 10K miles service today and I highlighted the juddering in 2nd (its getting really bad) I called the dealer (it's within warranty, so I need to go to a main dealer to ensure they carry out the work) The technician's recommendation was to change the oil. (really?) I explained that the DSG box in this car does not receive normal oil changes - only the service campaign and it's been carried out. Explained that I had checked this with Skoda Customer Service earlier in the year. So they're keeping the car until tomorrow. This needs to be sorted.
  13. I've seen mine into the 100's and I don't tow. I do sometimes have a lead foot though.
  14. Sounds like battery to me too. My last car the battery died without any warning whatsoever - though on the day it was a bit more difficult to start it the first time. It died completely on the way to the Brecon Beacons though so I was glad it died halfway when I stopped to pick up more people....
  15. So I know this is a common fault and mines gotten pretty bad lately but 95% of my cars time is spent in 7th on the motorway. Car is going to the dealer soon and I'm having the gearbox looked at under warranty. This is all well and good but what should I do long term? It's a 2011 Superb 1.8TSI. When I bought it in April - it had 15500 on the clock. Today it has 24K and my annual mileage is now looking to be 24-26K a year due to a change of job. The warranty will run out in April and I'm happy to keep on owning the car but what's the likelihood of it needing further clutch packs long term? If this is going to become a recurring problem then had I better think about replacement of the car? Though I suppose any work done under warranty - my understanding is that the replacement part is covered by a further two years warranty. Is that correct? My other concern is the good old chain tensioner but I am considering getting the part replaced by an independent garage in Feb/Mar so it won't die after the warranty is finished.
  16. I bought a 2011 1.8TSI in April. Changed jobs in July and now doing 25K a year. Will stick to 10K fixed servicing though. Cars only done 24K now. Had 15K when I bought it.
  17. I hope my TSI will be ok. Dropped 7K on the odometer since May
  18. I bought an 11 plate 1.8TSI 160hp with 15K on it in April. I've since proceeded to put nearly 7K on it (back and forth London twice a month) and I've put 1L of oil in it Economy is about 35-38 (brim to brim) Very happy with it - my only concern is the chain tensioner. The car is under warranty now but I'm going to change the tensioner - I forecast 50-60K going on it in the next two years - so I'm happy to change it for peace of mind
  19. Bumped mine up to 5238 and updated maps last night - worked a treat. I had 402x something before. Was getting mighty fed up of approaching roundabouts that actually weren't there or taking turns the map didn't know about....
  20. I'm not really worried - the bulk of the miles are because I'm now travelling 750 miles a month to London and back and that's expenses - so all my petrol cost is paid for.
