  1. Well maybe I'm being selfish, I make good money and am very highly skilled in my field, I'm probably a bit more optimistic than most about future job prospects.
  2. Of course. That or be stuck with the EU? I will take 10 years of that to be free of it.
  3. Yes - they were the reasons I voted out. I'm only young but I looked at the bigger picture and can see what the EU really is.
  4. They can complain all they like - surely will change nothing and I'm getting fed up of reading people trying to get a 2nd referendum. It won't happen.
  5. Irrespective of what was said or not said before hand, a vote was held and a result was computed. Nobody can now complain about the vote because of the supposed lies from beforehand. Tough **** if leave won, they won - FACT.
  6. Very nice! If I actually carried rear passengers a lot I'd think about this....
  7. Probably the first bit of sense I've read in this thread.
  8. Anyone who thought the NHS would get £350m is completely deluded. And it was a bit unfair pinning that on Farage this morning - he wasn't even part of the official campaign! I love how quickly all the obvious remainers jumped all over that!
  9. My dad has an 11 year old Octavia with DSG and its fine (though admittedly it's only done 21k) I've owned a few DSG cars (4 of them) and never had a DSG issue. I've covered 70k in them. Buy with confidence. They're great. Last car I had for 4 years (was 10yr old when I shifted it) and had covered 80k w/o issue
  10. For a grand - if you can get a year out of it, it'll pay for itself. It's certainly a very interesting car.
  11. We shall see - I've just taken a new job and from July I'll be doing around 17-18K per year. I'm quite pleased about that as I'll be able to put some miles on it before the warranty runs out next April. At that mileage that gives me 5 years until 100K so I may or may not run into problems. Once the warranty is run out I may get the independent to examine the tensioner and replace it if it is an affected one. I guess I'll be wiser to move to variable servicing at 18K per annum too?
  12. Bah I did 400 miles on Tuesday alone! And 2K since the end of April...
  13. I think so! One guy mocked the name of the car then he actually had a ride in it and said, actually, this is really lovely
  14. My car that I bought in April is 5 years old - has had 6 services all done by Skoda. I'll probably get it done once by Skoda as its under the Skoda warranty and I can afford the extra few quid for the main dealer to look at it. Once the warranty is done then it'll be going to my independent who are experts. Of course my only concern is the chain tensioner - so I may be tempted to take it straight to the independent and get them to change to chain and tensioner if it's affected. Id rather pay the 3-400 quid to do it myself then wait for it to go bang under the warranty. It would be a shame to waste this engine - it's only done 17k
  15. 2.0TSI? Jealous. But I'm really happy with mine too. Though I'm starting a new job next month and mileage is going up by over double. But it's the perfect car for the commute couldn't be happier.
  16. HHC was standard only on the 1.8TSI DSG model I believe but as eluded to above - can be enabled depending on your ABS module being compatible. I too have enabled XDS as my cars module is capable of it.
  17. So actually 42 on Maxidot means 39 in reality. I'm still very happy considering the size of the car. My very first Octavia was a 2.0 petrol and that read 32mpg no matter what I did! (That was a mark 1)
  18. I'll need to go fill the tank today so I'll get true reading of yesterday's trip
  19. Just wondering what most 1.8 owners generally get? Back and forth to work (5 miles) I average about 32 over both journeys. Today I drove to Gatwick and back - 380 miles - 43mpg average. Was up to 45 at one point - but the M25 on the way back buggered it - some unfortunate soul smashed up his Civic into the back of a van (hopefully they all safe though!) and did cause some delay.
  20. Also 8LLX on a blue BMW - testicles reference?
