In the UK, where The Wanderer and I both live, such a law already exists, and AFAIK a similar law exists in the EU - which is why WHEN A VIDEO IS BEING WATCHED car manufacturers blank the infotainment screens above a certain (very low) speed.

On my MIB1 Amundsen I used a 200GB SD card with over 40,000 tracks on it, all playable - sorted by artist and album as iriches says.

A major factor is that we drive RHD cars and most major manufacturers do their physical testing in LHD countries in LHD cars. Certainly this was the case when I worked at an automotive consultancy. The Type Approval of RHD versions is largely a paperwork exercise. With this testing regime problems like KPH/MPH, LHD/RHD won't show up - so IMHO VAG should take from this sorry episode that they need to do more physical testing of RHD cars in RHD countries before launch.

+1 The aim of the regs is to reduce/prevent drilling through with masonry drill bits - which cope easily with plastic trunking but struggle/fail with steel trunking.

AFAIK EV chargers do not take their power exclusively from your own solar cells. If the power generated by your solar cells is less than all loads (including changing your Enyaq) are demanding then the difference is taken from the incoming supply from the National Grid.

Remember forums tend to be visited by two groups - enthusiasts (with high expectations) and owners with problems. Having said that - similar issues are being reported with the Golf 8 (same platform) and the VW ID EVs - so it seems VAG may have rushed vehicles into production without sufficient software testing. Personally, I wouldn't touch an Octavia 4 for a couple of years (when I worked for an automotive consultancy a principal engineer at Ford Research in Dunton Essex advised that if you bought a new model in the first year of production you should expect to finish the development for them!). Caveat emptor...

Maybe dealers have been asked to check whether all service campaigns and recalls have been applied?

The Wiring Regulations advise that all concealed wiring should be covered/enclosed by trunking.

You need to carefully read the Octavia 4 forum on here - there are issues with software bugs (some possibly safety affecting) and long delivery delays.

Gas bonnet struts gets my vote, first thing I added to my Octavia.

This isn't a new problem with the Octavia 4 - the same thing happened on the Octavia 3 key batteries with kessy - the keys are VERY sensitive to battery voltage, the only "cure" was to fit fresh batteries from a major manufacturer.

I'm not talking bus lanes, HOV means ANY vehicle with more than one occupant - car, bike, trike, bus, etc.

And if possible implement camera monitored HOV (High Occupancy Vehicle) lanes like many US cities with big fines for driver only vehicles using them.

As the pressures drop the rotational speed of the wheels increases, keeping a long term record of wheel rotational speeds allows this increase in rotational speeds to be detected and reported as a loss of pressure. That's how VAG explain it... I certainly had my Octavia 3 report loss of pressure in all 4 tyres (I set the tyres during a heatwave and when the temperature dropped the tyre pressures dropped and the TPMS light came on), yes I did need to pump up all 4 tyres.

There are also different generations of each of them, which are referred to as MIB1, MIB2 and MIB3. Some differences between generations: MIB1 versions do not support CarPlay or Android Auto. MIB1 & MIB2 versions have map updates locally via USB and/or SD card but MIB3 versions have map updates over the air (OTA).

That's true of the original indirect TPMS software that only compared current rotational speed of the wheels with each other, but the TPMS software in the Octavia 3 can detect loss of pressure in all 4 wheels - it keeps a long term set of data that will show loss of pressure in all 4 wheels.

When I purchased my previous Octavia as a one year old approved Skoda used car the dealer had painted the nearside rear OE fit alloy wheel, paint which came off the first time I washed the car! So I took the wheel to the local powder coater in Southampton and the wheel was still perfect when my ex sold the car over 5 years later.
