  1. IMHO at the very least there should be an emergency manual release - like on my ex's Mk1 Fabia where you could access the lock via an access hatch in the boot.
  2. Do you have ACC or Front Assist? The symptoms sound to me like it could be the front radar believing something is too close in front and applying the brakes?
  3. Exactly my point, this isn't a DVLA Safety Critical Recall (despite the possibility of unncesssary injury to the driver) so Skoda won't be getting driver details from DVLA.
  4. The UK Government, and even more so the NHS, does not have a great history of designing decent IT systems - so I won't be holding my breath for this to happen!
  5. The difference is that it is described in Israel as a "recall" but in the UK it is just a "recall campaign" not a "safety recall", so there is no legal requirement on Skoda to inform owners. My L&K falls in the affected VIN range but since I'm not the original purchaser and I didn't purchase it through a Skoda dealer Skoda UK do not know I am the owner so are unable to write to me!
  6. What concerns me is what are the Police going to do with (likely) all the videos sent to them, I suspect most of them will just sit in an inbox due to lack of resources to check them - which means the ones that are worthy of warning/prosecution will get lost in the mass of those sent in by someone annoyed by someone else doing something perfectly legal. Seems like it's a good idea but only IF properly resourced, which given the cutbacks on Police spending isn't going to happen IMHO.
  7. Best way is to ask Ross-Tech by email to support (at) ross-tech.com
  8. Here's a theory: NYHET (NEWS) = 2017 models being sold at full price KANPANJE (CAMPAIGN) = 2016 models being sold at a discount to clear stock The way to know if this is theory is plausible is for @jobjor to look at the Model Year digit in the VIN and see it he has a 2016 or 2017 model.
  9. It does refer to the vehicles VIN number. Modern VCDS cables come in 3 versions, 1 most expensive for businesses which can be used on any number of vehicles and 2 cheaper aimed at enthusiasts which have a limit (3 or 10) of the number of different vehicles they can be used with. They detect the vehicle by using the VIN that they read from the vehicle electronics, and remember that whenever you make changes to settings - note NOT when you just scan a vehicle or clear fault codes (DTCs). So when you read "2 VINs left" that means they bought a limited version of the cable, and have used it on either 1 or 8 vehicles depending on whether they bought a 3 or 10 VIN limited version. Note that for security reasons previous VINs cannot be cleared or read.
  10. Skoda always spell it "Simply Clever" so I would strongly suspect that the one with "Symply Clever" is a poor quality fake. Check also that what you end up purchasing really is a 32GB card when it arrives, recently I purchased a genuine Skoda SD card from eBay that had been described as 32GB but when I checked on arrival it was only 16GB. The seller refunded me and changed the description!
  11. Turbo can get really hot, so it's not surprising that they rapidly show signs of rusting/corrosion. An example:
  12. It doesn't, there are many items I have previously purchased from Kopacek before Brexit which they now will not ship to the UK.
  13. I'm very risk averse, hence why I use the key wallet - having said that as @GreenMachine1.6 pointed out Skodas are nowhere near the top of the list of most stolen cars so I'm not going to lose any sleep over the risk - I'll just be vigilant in putting the keys into the wallet.
  14. Most likely the front assist radar module has been moved slightly and needs recalibrating.
  15. ... or one of the metal lined key wallets, this is what I use.
  16. Yes, just asked a different dealer who provided it straight away!
  17. When I asked for the Service Record of a 1 year old Skoda I had just purchased from the Skoda dealer near Southampton they refused to give it to me because of concerns over Data Protection legislation - which is ridiculous!!!
  18. There have been many examples of a vehicle passing the MOT but not meeting a legal requirement posted on here over the years, so it's no great surprise. One example - fitting LED or HID bulbs into a projector headlamp only certified for halogen bulbs usually gets an MOT pass but is technically not legal.
  19. Small I would say, and the balance error suggests that not all have gone bad - but which one(s) are bad? Easier maybe to just get all four injectors tested...
  20. You're right, my 66YO memory lets me down often now
  21. VW stop issuing updated maps 5 years after production of the infotainment system ends. The MIB1 systems went out of production in mid 2015 so they stopped issuing map updates after 2020, I found this out when my previous Octavia had a MIB1 Amundsen. The maps are a format specific to the Amundsen (and the equivalent VW, Audi and SEAT infotainment systems) and I never managed to find any third party or individual able to create newer maps.
  22. On the front and rear suspension, offside on RHD cars IIRC.
