  1. The Skoda update site doesn't offer firmware updates, only map updates! Best way to get a firmware update (if one is available) is to contact @pab567
  2. Some of those require different hardware (ambient lighting & retractable mirrors spring to mind), so no they can't all be activated just by coding/adaptation changes.
  3. VAG group as a policy only build cars to the spec ordered (only exception I know is US spec cars have the pre-wiring for their satellite radio system installed).
  4. I've had Goodyear Eagle F1's on my last 2 cars and had only good experience. On my Audi RS4 they lasted over 15,000 miles - 50% longer than the OE fit Pirelli PZero Rosso, the same as two versions of the Michelin Pilot and only beaten by the Vredenstein Sessanta which made 18,000 miles. On my Octavia after 20,000 miles over 5 years they needed to be replaced not because of wear but because of sidewall cracking, most likely caused by being parked in the strong Devon sun all year round.
  5. All those and simply not testing properly, especially for RHD models.
  6. VCDS or VCP or OBDeleven, or someone mentioned here local to you will usually do it for 'beer tokens'
  7. No, coding changes are needed to enable the MFSW.
  8. This thread may help List of VCDS & VCP Owners
  9. The Highway Code definition of coasting is and is based on the premise that the driver is in control of the gears and clutch, and hence in an emergency where acceleration is required may fail to react quickly enough to restore 'drive' Coasting with a DSG gearbox is a different situation since the car remains in gear and within milliseconds of the driver pressing the accelerator the TCU will re-engage the appropriate clutch and restore 'drive'. Another case of the Highway Code not keeping up with vehicle technology and/or being poorly written.
  10. assume = ASS of U and ME 🤕
  11. Seems this is the real problem that needs solving - not anything to do with the SD card itself?
  12. '11 & '12 plates would have been an Octavia 2 which was a completely different design to a '14 plate Octavia 3. Owners who have switched from Octavia 2 to Octavia 3 have also commented that the road noise ('boom') is much worse on the Octavia 3, seems this is one consequence of the new lighter design.
  13. How much fuel in the tank? This sloshing sound has been mentioned before on here when the tank is between 3/4 and full.
  14. Do you have an Amundsen? If so the sat nav SD card can be in either SD card slot. So you could try swapping the SD cards over and see if the problem is the SD card slot or the SD card itself.
  15. What kind of headlight - halogen or bi-xenon?
  16. Might be a good idea to post in the relevant Yeti forum rather than this Octavia 3 forum?
  17. People can only share the knowledge and experience that they have, so it's not going to be possible for members here to help/solve every problem and to expect that is unreasonable. I hope you find a solution elsewhere, but don't blame us for not being all knowing.
  18. I had the handbrake come off by itself a couple of years ago in the Aldi car park in Bideford, fortunately it was parked only a few inches behind another car and gently rolled forward onto their rear bumper. Never happened again and the Skoda dealer, predictably, said no fault found.
  19. Short answer, yes. Here supply the raw map data to VAG many months before VAG release the maps because it takes them time to convert the raw data into the correct format for their sat nav systems. On the older VAG sat navs (e.g. RNS-D, RNS-E, etc) the map data freeze was August of the preceding year, so October is an improvement!
  20. Sounds like a failing wheel speed sensor to me - all those systems rely on knowing the vehicle speed, so if one (or more) wheel speed sensors fail then that's the Christmas tree you get (I had it on an Octavia last year because of a failed right rear wheel speed sensor).
  21. When I tried that tweak on my previous 1.4TSI with a manual gearbox, ACC and parking assist all hell broke loose as it appears to have changed some of the messages on the CAN bus from the engine ECU so the ABS, ACC and parking ECUs all threw fault codes about missing messages, so I do undo the coding change and turn the ignition off/on a few times which clearing the fault codes.
  22. The parking sensors turn off above a certain speed, so if the wheel speed signal is messed up then it's entirely possible that a parking sensor fault will be reported.
  23. It certainly was 12V whether the car was locked or not on my 2015 Octavia estate.
  24. "Short to GND" means no voltage present where voltage expected - most common cause is a blown fuse, next most common is a broken wire or bad connection, least common is faulty component.
  25. When I had a set of winters and a set of summers I always religiously cleared them of stones etc. and thoroughly washed & dried them before putting them away in tyre bags. Putting away tyres that possibly have contamination from chemicals etc. where you don't regularly see them would seem a bad idea to me. I'm not OCD but I do like to look after my possessions!
