  1. did you ever get round to finding the part number from my photos, then you can know if MIB 1 or MIB 2 unit as your year has a changeover of parts depending on the build date?
  2. indeed, even with all the posts on this subject and the guides other have written for us (thanks to those for the contributions) something can always trip it up!
  3. Excellant glad you got there with it, well thats logged for the memory bank for next time, "lock the SD card" . Triple hourly rates charged to my Swiss bank account please ....☺️
  4. Good job we backed up old data then. SD card "locked" again with the slider bit? I've not seen "checking data" before on mine sorry. The only other thing I can remember in other threads with issues was using Mac to format card doesn't do it properly or the format type used initially.
  5. Welcome to the forum. The age old cambelt debate, to kick start the usual discussion, please let us know what engine is installed in your car. But I will start by saying if it's a TDI then fives years is generally the most "popular" time to change it, the tensioner and water pump. Estimate around £650 at main dealer or £400-500 at indy garage. TDI. I will also add ( but sorry, not wishing to dampen your excitement of a new motor😄), check the colour of the coolant in the expansion tank, and also if you have an even heat coming from both passenger and drivers side vents when nice and warmed up. There is a well documented issue on this forum (including my own 2016 TDI @ 55k miles) with a bag of silica that's in the expansion tank to extend the protection of the many types of alloys used across the engine cooling system and emissions management, that can splits and blocks the heater matrix. Any sign of horrible colour (it should be nice and pink) in the coolant expansion tank "brown" or rusty looking is a good indication it's gone south already. Looking forward to more cambelt replies. Regards.
  6. Yes extract can take a while. Logos aren't that important. I've never updated them as they are all ok.
  7. Do I get Bank holiday rates today....😄
  8. I don't think we actually established Amundsen or Columbus...sorry I don't know what two SD and cd player model you have. Download whatever map you can fit on the card you can see listed, once your vin was entered on Skoda Portal. It shows the maps highlighted in green if can download one. But petroldave hinted 5 year life for downloads.
  9. Trying not to be patronising here. First make a copy of all the folders on your Skoda SD card to your PC as a backup of your maps folder on the card. Then you can read these instructions. You have to know the size of your SD card (windows will show it) to know which map file you can fit on it. Formatting the SD card does not erase the special file Skoda have on it to know it can work in the car. You cannot put map files on any other card.
  10. @TheWanderer. Given you cars history and the amount of time you've been without it, get the Skoda Warranty without a doubt as suggested by others. Just looking at a few dealers websites , just 1hr of diagnostics is ~£130 (some list £60 for first thirty minutes) then labour on top for any repairs. You'll have that value back even at @ £338 per annum with one fault in that time.
  11. Station logos can be downloaded, not sure if this link still works? Worth a try. Pop it on an SD card. From a few threads on the forum, station logos might only appear when you "preset" the station.
  12. I'm sure I've seen a thread where someone fitted these exact speakers. The good thing about them is they have a surround that has a lip to direct water into the door and out the drains. I remember in the thread they fitted other speakers with with aftermarket spacers that let water into the cabin! I still have some of the two way 165mm Focals from my old Seat, they were excellent, a good choice for sure. I was going to put them in at some point, but didn't as i'm happy with the sound (always biased to only the fronts though). As a guide, I was quoted around £400 a few years back to change the fronts to some component Pioneers with some additional sound deadening on the door skins, dynamat etc. Good luck.
  13. The key to your problem you need a ferrite ring around the power cable. And importantly, the power cable needs to be looped through and around it once to reduce interference of the DAB signal as shown in this link. https://nextbase.zendesk.com/hc/en-150/articles/360018064857-How-to-fit-a-ferrite-core-magnet-on-a-cable
  14. Its telling you its due its "annual inspection" which is not the same as the "Service" interval reminder. Go to Car "settings" scroll down list to " Service" and it will also tell you when (days/miles) when your "inspection" and oil "Service" is due Quick Google and i think this is in the manual too. Follow the steps below to reset the inspection warning Press and hold the long button below the dials labeled 0.0 / SET until the dash lights up Whilst holding this button, turn on the ignition and continue to hold Keep holding the button until “Reset inspection service – are you sure?” is displayed Release the 0.0 / SET button and press it again to reset the service interval warning. The dash will display “Service Reset” Turn off the ignition and now start the car, you’ll no longer be greeted with the inspection warning. Try that
  15. MOT rules from .Gov website, makes it pretty clear halogen to LED will be a fail.
  16. might be some help in this thread and some diagrams too.
  17. My infotainment, Amundsen MIB 2, has an option to turn off the drls , go to "car" settings, lighting. However you should still be cautious about changing from halogen to led from an MOT perspective
  18. And in winter, I'm sure I've noticed (when left on) the idle been increased due to the additional electrical demand.
  19. Would have to first question whether it is possible for you to take it to somewhere that can check the alignment properly and against factory parameters. Rather than trying to fix alignment yourself. Why is the alignment out in the first place, accident damage or something else? Manual adjustment (even more so for LED lights) is not really recommended as it could cause blinding of other road users.
  20. Great video, love the fact at the end they discuss the ticking time bomb "MIT Silikat" Roughly translated it means, we made our engine so sensitive to corrosion we had to stick a plastic bag of special crystals in the expansion tank that, in about 5 years time, will split and block the heater matrix😄
  21. Classic sign of the heater matrix being blocked. Lots of threads on this on this forum. Check the colour of the coolant in the expansion tank, if it looks rusty then it's contaminated and the silica bag in the expansion tank has probably split and blocked the matrix. you need the whole coolant drained out, flushed and new heater matrix installed. Wherever you bought it from did they provide any warranty, if so take it back to them for them to fix as soon as possible.
  22. @Mattk53 To find part no so we can find out if you have Mib 1 or mib 2: Press "menu" button. Press "setup" by scrolling left and right through the screen menus. Scroll down the setup list to "System Information" And get to my last picture.
  23. when you say the other two settings, do you mean in the middle so not to the left or the right. Mine is in the middle and not rockered to the left or right to work the doors.
  24. @Mattk53 With the infotainment off, Just push the SD card in a bit and let go and it will pop out the slot. if it's got a label with Skoda on it then that's the map data. Standing corrected by others above, if it's an Amundsen then maps can again be updated via a Windows computer easy enough. You can only put new Map data downloads on the genuine Skoda SDCard, you can't just use any old SD card.
  25. @cheezemonkhai can I presume you know you need to code it to the car once fitted?
