  1. Yes, on the phone handset button on the right hand side of the steering wheel.
  2. Were these failures an issue on the S2 Superb? I ask as the system in ours worked brilliantly and having looked on the S2 forum, I can’t even find it mentioned? (Preps to get inundated with 658 threads!).
  3. In March 2020, I had a MK2 CR170 and I knew it wasn’t going to be ULEZ compliant and living in the zone, it had to go. Given the low annual mileage I was now covering, a petrol was the obvious answer. I drove a couple of 1.4 DSG Superbs and found them underwhelming. But when I saw the 280 advertised, saw the very high spec and then actually drove it, it was the obvious choice and I have not regretted it; it’s best car I’ve ever owned. Yes, it does only give around 25mpg on my very short daily commute but I’ve got 40+ on a decent run and yes, servicing costs are higher with the 4X4 system but it’s not insane.
  4. What you’re experiencing is normal. Get an override switch as per @Danoid suggestion and this feature is no longer an issue. They’re dirt cheap, a bit of a faff to fit, but well worth it.
  5. No, it’s a specific oil for the DSG box which is not actually an automatic at all, but a manual unit with two gearboxes and an automatic double clutch system. This gives you the full description.
  6. If you want a cheaper pair of boot lights, these do not have any issues, so no bonging when you open the glove, nor box flickering on the maxi when the doors or boot is opened. Here
  7. Here’s a Link. Gives you the part numbers and price. LLL will probably be as competitive as your dealer.
  8. Unfortunately, it looks like Aber isn’t exactly smothered in Indy VAG businesses! Sounds like it could be a wheel sensor causing the issues you have, as I experienced exactly the same issues when the NSR sensor failed. Have you looked at to Forge Aberaeron? They are a true indy and have a pretty decent set of reviews.
  9. I had the OE ones on the MKII and they were great, so no reason to think otherwise on these.
  10. Has that been bodged previous repair? That looks like filler all over it?
  11. Sorry, posted too soon. I’m thinking there shouldn’t be any reason why you can’t transplant the interior parts, motor, glass and wring, into the new housing. The dimming mirror glass is >£400 alone. 😳
  12. Sorry, posted too soon. What I mean is the original unit does not appear to be that badly damaged, so if you could just interchange the parts, you’d be good to go.
  13. I didn’t know it was mounted in a glass section on the door, so does the replacement com with that section already fitted to the door mirror unit? Can they not be changed over, or is it glued in place?
  14. The brakes on mine are absolutely fine; no sign of heat, corrosion, pitting or destruction on the fronts or rears and I’m nearly on 50k. I also find them to have excellent stopping power. However, the PITA is the dust, so…. ….on the basis of this, are these Brembo and ATE pads the way to reduce the dust?
  15. I use the boot stays all the time. I have a boot tidy thing from Lidl and it’s crammed-full of car related stuff; one of those stays stops it from moving around the boot space.
  16. Gone are the days of vacuum fuel starvation. My Mums Ford Prefect 105E (81MPJ!) regularly had that issue on loner journeys in the summer. On one occasion when we’d had to stop as the engine was hunting like crazy and finally stalled, a passing RAC patrolman on his bike stopped and asked we were OK. Mum explained that unfortunately we weren’t members and he said don’t worry about that. He asked what the problem was and Mum explained what had happened, and the patrolman walked to the back of the car. He then opened the petrol cap and with a huge rushing of air and a bang as the tank returned to its correct shape, the problem was solved. Mum now made sure she’d vented the tank at the start of any longer drive she undertook.
  17. You might be getting a front/rear and the top/bottom buttons operating at the same time, so pushing the switch at 2, 4, 8 or 10 o’clock; that would cause the effect you describe.
  18. Don’t understand; you can’t feel where the lumbar support moves to, when pressing the quad button? The front and rear buttons change the amount of support the lumbar provides. The top and bottom buttons moves the position of the lumbar support up and down the back of the seat.
  19. Not getting rid of the 280 at any point. Absolutely love the car and dislike the MKIV. Might look for a small city car and use that to keep the mileage at a reasonable level on the 280 (currently 49k).
  20. You forgot to add the cost of depreciation…☹️
  21. I’ve never turned the 280’s off, nor the MKII nor the MKI before that… and not the Octavia before that!
