  1. Here’s a Link. Gives you the part numbers and price. LLL will probably be as competitive as your dealer.
  2. Unfortunately, it looks like Aber isn’t exactly smothered in Indy VAG businesses! Sounds like it could be a wheel sensor causing the issues you have, as I experienced exactly the same issues when the NSR sensor failed. Have you looked at to Forge Aberaeron? They are a true indy and have a pretty decent set of reviews.
  3. I had the OE ones on the MKII and they were great, so no reason to think otherwise on these.
  4. Has that been bodged previous repair? That looks like filler all over it?
  5. Sorry, posted too soon. I’m thinking there shouldn’t be any reason why you can’t transplant the interior parts, motor, glass and wring, into the new housing. The dimming mirror glass is >£400 alone. 😳
  6. Sorry, posted too soon. What I mean is the original unit does not appear to be that badly damaged, so if you could just interchange the parts, you’d be good to go.
  7. I didn’t know it was mounted in a glass section on the door, so does the replacement com with that section already fitted to the door mirror unit? Can they not be changed over, or is it glued in place?
  8. The brakes on mine are absolutely fine; no sign of heat, corrosion, pitting or destruction on the fronts or rears and I’m nearly on 50k. I also find them to have excellent stopping power. However, the PITA is the dust, so…. ….on the basis of this, are these Brembo and ATE pads the way to reduce the dust?
  9. I use the boot stays all the time. I have a boot tidy thing from Lidl and it’s crammed-full of car related stuff; one of those stays stops it from moving around the boot space.
  10. Gone are the days of vacuum fuel starvation. My Mums Ford Prefect 105E (81MPJ!) regularly had that issue on loner journeys in the summer. On one occasion when we’d had to stop as the engine was hunting like crazy and finally stalled, a passing RAC patrolman on his bike stopped and asked we were OK. Mum explained that unfortunately we weren’t members and he said don’t worry about that. He asked what the problem was and Mum explained what had happened, and the patrolman walked to the back of the car. He then opened the petrol cap and with a huge rushing of air and a bang as the tank returned to its correct shape, the problem was solved. Mum now made sure she’d vented the tank at the start of any longer drive she undertook.
  11. You might be getting a front/rear and the top/bottom buttons operating at the same time, so pushing the switch at 2, 4, 8 or 10 o’clock; that would cause the effect you describe.
  12. Don’t understand; you can’t feel where the lumbar support moves to, when pressing the quad button? The front and rear buttons change the amount of support the lumbar provides. The top and bottom buttons moves the position of the lumbar support up and down the back of the seat.
  13. Not getting rid of the 280 at any point. Absolutely love the car and dislike the MKIV. Might look for a small city car and use that to keep the mileage at a reasonable level on the 280 (currently 49k).
  14. You forgot to add the cost of depreciation…☹️
  15. I’ve never turned the 280’s off, nor the MKII nor the MKI before that… and not the Octavia before that!
  16. It’s down to the daylight sensor not being activated for the given light conditions.
  17. The OS part number is 3V5868885E. It’s about £40.
  18. Must’ve saved a € or 2 to go down the software route, but that in itself, makes it more difficult solution than a switch.
  19. So I’m guessing after 2016/7, they removed the interior and tilt sensor disable button at the bottom of the B post?
  20. Find a local VAG specialist and use them.
  21. Feel for you, mate…. The TW Hybrid Ceramic Wax products are excellent and after buffing, your shoulder will still feel OK too if your new DA runs outta battery!
  22. I’m guessing after 7 years and no update, Andy, they’ve probably sorted it!
