  1. Adaptive cruise is an excellent innovation, but as for the other add-ons that technology has brought, such as lane assist and traffic jam assist, they’re now always off.
  2. I have a Racechip unit; it’s excellent. No more dead spot. The latest version can be controlled via their app too.
  3. That’s really good news. My 2016 MOL battery failed in October 23. I think my short commute takes a toll on a battery.
  4. Yep, looks that way…🙄
  5. Looks really great. On a completely different subject, Lee, what sort of garage is the Superb parked in?
  6. I know, it’s a different car and a 4x4, but I put Conti All Seasons on the Superb in December’22. Absolutely brilliant tyres and especially so in the small amount of snow with had in Jan 23 and outstanding in the much heavier stuff in Ireland that Feb. Quite amazing how much difference there was in the handling. And they’re soooo quiet compared to the original OE Pirelli P7’s they replaced (35k and on 3.5mm). The Contis have now covered 16k and they’re down to 5mm, so I should get 25-30k from them which I’d be really happy with given their softer compound. I’ll never go back to standard tyres again. I also put them on SWMBO’s Focus last year.
  7. Yeah.. of course a replacement screen is the only answer! I used cerium oxide on a small (25mm) medium pad, attached to the small battery DA I have, and that made short work of the end of travel crap on the drivers side blade, which caused terrible squeaking and thud as the blade stuck (literally nothing else worked) and it removed minor stone scratches on the blade arcs too. Oh and if you leave the oxide to dry in the container you use to mix it in, it’ll dry and it can be reused again.
  8. Yeah, that’s a good price, well, from a dealer. I think I paid around that two years ago from VAG specialist, but they cleaned the filter properly, sent before/after pics.
  9. Do you have the full service history? If so was it serviced in accordance with the manufactures schedule - many motability cars are not. If alls well (& even if it’s not to be Frank) I suggest you send an email to MD of SUK, Matthew Bowden. Note this was a Motability car and that they had not passed on the recall to your Grandfather and now the car is effectively a write off so plead with him for help.
  10. Because it’s calculated using a number of factors. So off the top of my head they include opacity of the oil, the mileage you’ve covered and the “determination” of your driving style. There are others. Putting all that aside, I’m on variable servicing, but I’ve only gone as far as 15m without an oil change; I get it bang-on or within a month either side of 12. Additionally, I get the other fluids / filters get changed / cleaned well in advance of the recommended periods.
  11. Oddly, yes that was the one that failed on ours….
  12. Just buy some aftermarket Aerotwin refills. I’ve been using these for 10+ years and they’re perfectly fine. Here’s one supplier, but there are much cheaper ones on eBay.
  13. Your specialist will scan the car and that will identify which one has failed.
  14. Warm mild soapy water in a spray bottle. A microfibre to move it in a circular motion and another to dry it.
  15. Yeah that’s veh good. Currently getting 23 to/from work, from cold in all of 1.5 miles! 😂 Best I’ve had is 40.1. on a 200 mile run from Surbiton to Stena Birkenhead. Around 70/75 most of the time with the odd blast to see off BMW/Audi/Corsaboi tail hangers.
  16. It’ll be a faulty wheel speed sensor. Symptoms identical to mine about three years ago.
  17. Ahhh, right. I think it’s all a bit overblown, as there’s going to be ‘000’s of units with no issues at all.
  18. Zero difference in real-world performance, so why the desire for the 280 over a 272?
  19. Obviously you’ve tried to reset the mirror in the dipped position?
  20. Well, the Fleet Director in question did have some odd left-field choices but as they were only on the fleet for 6 months and no one else wanted them, they were roaring cheap. Same applied to the Kia; this was 1999/2000 and they had zero presence in the fleet world so they too were run at practically zero cost. And trust me; those 200’s were still very rapid and the Hillmans loved them.
  21. Both of which you’ll never use imo.. Whoops…. Just get the MK3.
  22. Mine is slightly off centred to the left and always has been one-way or the other. I had Hunter 4W alignments done in the 1st year of ownership on at least 1/2 doz occasions. It could be off to the left, then the right then left again. I gave up. But it is bloody annoying as I’d love to have it centred properly.
  23. Oh I should add something. The 200SX Turbos we had on the fleet were the even rarer than normal, as they were all autos.
